4 INSTALLATION GUARANTEE We supply a twelve mnth guarantee n all installatins perfrmed. If a fault is fund that is caused by ne f their installatins, they will rectify the prblem prmptly. If a fault is fund that is nt related t their installatin but is a fault f the prduct, they can endeavur t slve the prblem at the apprpriate rate. Recmmend remving flare jints and brazing pipe wrk. Cautin!: Head unit may be pressurized with nitrgen, Sizing the unit. Use apprpriate sftware r qualified persns t carry ut heat lad. website has a simple heat lad calculatr. Rule f Thumb: flr area in m 2 /6=kW, r W/m 2 fr residential applicatins. Refer t Airah handbk fr ther applicatins. Fresh air supply may be required fr cmmercial installatins refer t AS1668. Cndensing unit. Use 50mm 50mm waffle rubber under each f the cndensing unit feet. Allw suitable space fr cndenser air flw. Refer t manufacturers installatin instructins. The cndensing unit is pre-charged with R410A. Air flw away frm the clsest wall. Beware f clse perimeter fences and neighburs, (nise). Add il traps fr large vertical pipe runs, D nt exceed manufacturers installatin recmmendatins fr maximum pipe run, and maximum vertical distance between indr and utdr. 6 Fan cil (indr unit) munting Ducted evapratr units ensure adequate vibratin cntrls (rubber munts, springs, hang unit with light gauge gal strap). Ensure unit des nt interfere with light r ther electrical fittings r services. Wall munt units - Munt fan cil base t wall. Ensure there are n bjects behind the pint where the hle fr the pipe wrk is t be drilled, (electrical cables, studs, ther services). Install the fan cil level. Drainage slpe is allwed fr in the drain tray in the unit. Wall munted units - Ensure minimum distance between ceiling and tp f unit refer manufacturer s recmmendatins. (min 50 mm), Cautin!: Head unit may be pressurized with nitrgen, Cautin!: Take care nt t kink r crease the cpper tube when bending the pipe tails Munting n Internal walls Run drain t nearest external wall r drain pint (liaise with building supervisr r wner) May require cndensate pump fitted behind indr unit, Try and cnceal pipe wrk in wall cavity r cupbard. Wall penetratin and cver The wall penetratin shuld be cut with a hle saw n the cndensing unit side twards the inside use a lng drill frm the inside t make the centre hle befre drilling. Ensure that the utside hle is slightly lwer than the inside hle t allw fr the drain line t fall gently twards the utside. Wall cver is t be fitted t utside penetratin. Take care t pass cpper tube, electrical cable and drain pipe thrugh this befre bth ends f these are cnnected r fastened. Seal the hle with waterprf sealant r similar t prevent vermin entering the wall. Rf Munting/Penetratins Use apprpriate pipe flashing, (dektite r similar) Seal the penetratin with waterprf sealant t prevent leaks and vibratin. Purchase r have made galvanised r pwder cated munting brackets r sectins d nt use timber, Use gal strap t secure the cndensing unit and prevent being blwn ver by wind/strms. Cautin! Wrk safely at heights, use apprpriate restraining harnesses r barriers and/r access scafflding r cranes. Cautin! Wrk safely at heights, use ladders crrectly, maintain crrect angle, extend ladder 1 metre abve gutter r wrk surface, and tie ff r secure t rf r wall during use. 7 Pipe/Electrical duct use the pipe cver as agreed by custmer. Cver the expsed pipe wrk as per the COP, Inaba r similar plastic cver. COLORBOND hat sectin with matching clur t custmers requirements. Other types are available and may be manufactured t suit. Cnnectin and testing f tubing Perfrm flare cnnectins apprpriate fr R410A refrigerant Cnnect gauge manifld t system. Take care t ensure refrigerant is nt lst frm the cndensing unit. Pressure test new tubing and fan cil with nitrgen t 59 C equivalent fr R410A. 3670kPa (This is because unit is reverse cycle). Use nitrgen regulatr. Perfrm leak test - use bubble slutin. Repair leaks if necessary. Electrical cnnectin Electrical installatin t be carried ut by licensed electrician. Sme units require pwer t indr unit r utdr unit refer t manufacturer s instructins. Cver all cables in cnduit r under pipe cver. Cndensate Drain Ensure drain pipes are insulated t prevent water damage Use 25mm r larger electrical cnduit r pressure pipe and fittings. Run drain vertically dwn wall. Use saddles where necessary. Run drain t dwnpipe r ther waste pint. Sme units are able t switch exit ends remve bung and swap utlet t ther end if required. Install a suitable trap int ducted units that facilitates servicing. (EZ trap) Ducted systems ensure the discharge frm the safety drain is visible and instruct custmer t arrange fr immediate service if safety discharge is visible. 8 Rugh In Ensure drain, crrect sized pipe wrk and electrical are installed, Check that the expsed tails are crrectly psitined, Adequately cver and prtect expsed pipe wrk frm damage, misture and debris, Cnfirm with site supervisr the lcatin f pipe wrk btain signature t verify satisfactry lcatin f wrks befre leaving site. Pressure test all pipe wrk with jints braze r use cmpressin fittings n all cncealed and inaccessible jints (d nt use flare jints). Relcatin f a unit If required t mve a system during cnstructin r re-lcatin: Attach the apprpriate gauges t the suctin line. Pump the system dwn run the unit, wind in (frnt seat) the liquid line valve. (Small line). Watch the suctin pressure until the system pressure appraches zer kpa frnt seat the suctin line valve. Immediately turn the unit ff. Discnnect tubing and electrical cables. Cautin ensure pwer is tested, cnfirmed de-energised and remved! Remve fan cil frm wall, re-package (if pssible) and stre away. Remve cndensing unit and re-package (if pssible) and stre away). Ensure all pipe and fittings are sealed using caps and flare nuts, r tape. Ensure n cntaminants enter the system. Charging Attach service gauges & pen liquid line and suctin service valves. Evacuate entire system t less than 500 micrns. (Refer t COP). Use electrnic vacuum gauge, suitably placed Clse gauge manifld, remve electrnic vacuum gauge. Weigh in liquid refrigerant equivalent t the quantity stated n the name plate (grams r kilgrams f R32 r R410A r ther), Add r remve refrigerant accrding the length f pipe run and manufacturers recmmendatins. Energise unit and run in cling mde. Fill ut cmmissining sheet with peratinal data (Pressures, temperatures, superheat at cmpressr suctin inlet, sub cling after cndenser, evapratr split, running current etc). Remve gauges and replace all caps. Use electrnic leak detectr t check fr leaks. Split AC Installatin Checklist V3 1 Page 8 f 11

9 System evacuatin Deep evacuatin methd Evacuate system between service valves and fan cil t minimum f 65 Pa r 500 micrns f mercury. (Refer t COP part 2 Sectin 6). Use an electrnic vacuum gauge, suitably placed. Allw a minimum f minutes t evacuate. (Time t d paper wrk and clean the wrk area). Islate the vacuum pump and allw the system t stand fr 60 minutes vacuum must be maintained belw 78 Pa r 600 micrns f mercury). Cmmissining Add r remve refrigerant accrding the length f pipe run and manufacturers recmmendatins. (Usually grams per metre ver the maximum length). Allw the equivalent f 1 metre f pipe run fr a 90 deg bend. Run current measure the run current f the unit. Refer t manufacturers name plate. Ensure inverter units are running at maximum. (Nte! Electrical testing must be carried ut by licensed persns) a). Flush the drain with 2-3 litres f water t ensure free water flw and n leaks. Put batteries in remte and set clck r cnfigure the wall cntrller t manufacturer s peratin manual. Check unit peratin in all mdes: heating, cling, fan (all speeds), dry, aut. Check blade swing functin Measure air nt indr cil (rm ambient) and air ff cil (supply air temp - SA) expected difference f apprx 10k. (E.g. Rm +25 deg C; SA shuld be apprx. 15 Deg C). Measure utdr ambient temperature, air ff the cndensing cil shuld be apprx 15 k higher than ambient. (E.G. utdr ambient = 35 Deg C, air ff the cndenser shuld be apprx 50 Deg C). Cmplete warranty card if required. Instruct custmer in the use f the unit: Cling set t Deg C. Heating set t Deg C. Drying Mde lwers humidity withut lwering temperature. Aut maintains set pint with heating and cling, Znes use f znes if fitted t ducted systems. Shw custmer hw t remve and clean the air filter. Recmmend regular service plan t custmer. Ask custmer t sign yur checklist t ensure they accept the installatin, and t facilitate payment. Ensure all tls and rubbish is remved. Use crrect manual handling techniques t lift heavy bjects, use thers t assist r use lifting equipment designed fr the purpse (frklift, crane etc.) Use gd husekeeping techniques t prevent injuries.
