2 Create an Account First time visitors need to create an account before submitting an online application. Please note: you will be asked to enter a valid address. If you already created an account and want to view your application status please login. address Password The Kindergarten application period will be from January 13, 2014 to February 14, For more information, see the NYC Department of Education website.

3 Create an Account In order to complete the account creation process, a verification will be sent to the address you provide. If you do not receive the verification , please check your Junk Mail folder. To create an account, you will need a valid address. You can sign up for a free address on the following sites: Gmail Yahoo Hotmail

4 Create an Account Address Create Password Confirm Password Confirm Address Please include at least 6 characters, and at least one number (1-9) or one special character such as (!@#) in your password. Save and Continue If you would like to receive s about Pre-Kindergarten Admissions, Kindergarten Admissions, or Gifted & Talented Admissions, click the boxes on the left.

5 Create an Account Enter your name and contact information. Parent First Name Parent Last Name Daytime Phone Number. Please do not include dashes. Evening Phone Number (optional). Please do not include dashes. Save and Continue You are only able to submit an application if you are the legal parent/guardian of the child.

6 Create an Account Click here to enter your street address. Home Address Your home address will be used to determine your zoned school. Make sure to: Enter your home address as it would appear on your mail. If your address is not entered correctly, your child may not receive the correct admissions priority as indicated in our application and Directory. If you have an apartment number, make sure to enter it so that you receive any mailings from our office. Any placement offered as a result of a fraudulent address will be forfeited. Save and Continue

7 Create an Account Enter your street address in the pop-up window that appears. Borough P.O. Box addresses will not be accepted, please enter your street address. If your family resides in a Domestic Violence Shelter, please visit your local Borough Enrollment Office to submit an application. Address Number Street Prefix Street Name Apartment Number City Zip Code Street Prefix can be North, South, East or West. Select None if your street does not include one of these. Save and Continue

11 Kindergarten Directories in [your language] are available here [link] Save and Continue About submitting this form: Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation once you have successfully submitted your application. Be sure to keep this receipt for your records. Making Changes: You can make changes to your application and re-submit it at any time before the deadline 02/14/2014. Applying for Multiple Children: If you are submitting applications for multiple children with the same choices, you will have the opportunity to add their information during this application. Any adjustments to this application will affect all children included in the application. Session Time Out: Your session will expire after 30 minutes of inactivity. If you cannot complete your application in one session, you can save each step and return at a later time. Make sure you complete your application by the February 14th deadline. You will need to click two boxes to certify that you are the parent/guardian of the applicant and that the applicant is a NYC resident who will turn five in 2014 before you are able to continue.

13 Student ID / OSIS (optional) If your child currently attends prekindergarten click Yes. There are three kinds of pre-kindergarten programs, NYC Public School (non-charter), Community Based Organization Program, Private/Parochial. Current School Search for your child s school here. You can filter your search by borough and district

14 Check the box and click Add Programs to add your zoned school to your application. For more information about how to select schools, check out the Kindergarten Directories in [your language] here [link] You can search for programs by clicking the magnifying glass here.

15 Click the box next to the programs you are interested in, then the Add Programs button to add them to your application. You can filter your search by borough and district Add Programs

16 Once you have added programs to your list, you can reorder them by clicking on the grey square, then dragging and dropping them in the order you prefer. You can also remove a program from your list by clicking the X. If you click info you can see more details about the school.

17 You will be notified if you have not included your zoned school. If you do not want to list your zoned school, click Save and Continue. If you do, click Edit Choices. Edit Choices Save and Continue

18 If you apply to a dual language program you should indicate the language your child speaks at home.

19 If you have another child who is applying to kindergarten, enter their name, date of birth, and pre-k information (if applicable). If you would like the same schools listed for both students, continue this application. If you would like to submit different school choices for additional children, you must start a new application. If you do not want to add a second student, click Save and Continue. 20 If you have an older child enrolled at any of the schools you are applying to, click Yes and complete the information below to receive sibling priority. 21 Your application information is listed under Kindergarten Applicant Information. If you want to edit, click Edit. To complete the application, you must check all the boxes in order to continue. When you check the boxes you are certifying that: - You are the parent/guardian of the applicant - You and the applicant live at the same address (as listed on this application) - The applicant will be turning 5 in You have read and understand the placement process, and you are authorized to submit this application on behalf of the applicant(s).

22 Once you submit your application you will receive a confirmation and will be able to download and print your receipt. Consider other options. Charter schools run a separate application process. If you are interested in applying to New York city's public charter schools, please click the Apply to Charter Schools button.
