Go to the website then click the Gmail link at the top of the screen. CTE Connect: Create Web Based December 2010 Page 1 of 13

2 2. Click the Create an Account button at the bottom right of the screen. 3. Complete the Create an Account form. a. Enter your first and last names b. Enter a login name (this is also your address) In this case, my new address will be [email protected]. c. Enter a password. 3 Tip: Click the check availability! button to be sure your desired login/ address is available. Select another login name if the first is unavailable; see below. d. Optional checking this box will set the computer s homepage to Google. e. The security question is used to retrieve your password. If you do not like the questions Google has provided, select Write my own question from the drop down list to write your own question. f. This is the answer to your security question. Be mindful of capital letters as it is case sensitive. g. Optional If you have another address to retrieve forgotten passwords, type it here. Otherwise, leave blank. h. 4 j. Enter the letters you see in the graphic. This is to prove that a human is creating the account. Note: If you type the letters incorrectly, the program will let you try again. k. 5 Yahoo Creating a Yahoo account has 4 steps and takes less than 5 minutes to setup. 1. Go to the website then click the Mail link on the left of the screen. 2. Click the Create New Account button on the right of the screen. CTE Connect: Create Web Based December 2010 Page 5 of 13

6 3. Complete the form. a. Enter your first and last names. b. Select your Gender from the drop down. c. Enter your date of birth. d. This defaults to United States. Leave as is. e. Enter the Zip Code of your home. f. Select from the ID/ addresses suggested g. or type in the ID/ of your choice. 7 h. Enter a password. The note to the right will give you tips for creating a secure password. The password strength indicator will assist you as well; see arrows below. i. 9 Hotmail Creating a Hotmail account has 3 steps and takes less than 5 minutes to setup. 1. Go to the website then click the Sign up button on the bottom of the screen. 2. Complete the form. a. 10 Tip: Click the Check Availability button to be sure your desired login/ address is available. Select another login name if the first is unavailable; see below. b. Enter a password. Select a question from the drop down then type the answer. e. Enter your first and last names f. This defaults to United States. Leave as is. g. Enter your state. h. Enter the zip code of your home. i. Select your gender. j. Enter the year you were born. k. Enter the letters you see in the graphic. This is to prove that a human is creating the account.
