Frequently your responsibilities extend beyond your clinical education. PADONA is offering to its members a way to strengthen their management expertise through the annual intense three-day prep course entitled Don t Just Survive - Thrive: A Prep Course for Directors and Assistant Directors of Nursing! This course brings together noted speakers that are not only experts in their respective fields but have the ability to share knowledge with you in a non-theoretical format, making it easy to apply and immediately use in your facility. The enclosed program material provides detailed information. Attendees of this program are eligible to receive 19.0 RN contact hours. The program is being offered at Harrisburg Area Community College Wildwood Conference Center, on June 12, 13 & 14, 2012 (Tuesday through Thursday). Your registration fee of $ includes breaks, breakfast and lunch. Attendees are responsible for making their own reservations for local sleeping accommodations. 3 Program Details Location: Wildwood Conference Center HACC One HACC Drive Harrisburg, PA Dates: Registration: June 12, 13 & 14, 2012 (Tuesday through Thursday) Registration fee includes three days of programming and extensive reference material that attendees will be able to access online for use at their facilities. Attendees of this program are eligible to receive 19 RN contact hours. Registration due by: May 29, 2012 (no on-site payments). Registrations after May 29, 2012 may not be accepted. Refund/Cancellation Cancellations must be received in writing prior to the start of the program. Policy: Cancellations received after May 29, 2012 will be refunded 50% of the registration fee. 6 Thursday, June 14, 2012 DAY 3 Thursday, June 14, Session 6 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM MDS ASSESSMENT MANAGEMENT FOR DONs Sophie Campbell, MSN, RN, CRRN, RAC-CT This full day program will focus on the relationship between the MDS 3.0, RUGs IV and reimbursement. Effective nursing management of medical record documentation, management of the assessment office and understanding the impact that nursing care and services can have on reimbursement. Attendees will learn systems and processes for managing Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement through effective and efficient medical record documentation, communication of resident care and service needs and involvement in meetings. Additionally, we will review activities of daily living and restorative nursing, as well as appropriate referrals to rehabilitation therapy services. Day 3 Thursday June 14, 2012 Session 7 Review of the Quality Measures Sophie Campbell, MSN, RN, CRRN, RAC-CT This session is a continuation of the session related to MDS assessment management for DONs. The attendees will learn the changes in the quality measures and the medical record documentation that can provide support for or refute of the quality measures. 7 Faculty Sophie A. Campbell, MSN, RN, CRRN, RAC-CT Sophie A. Campbell, MSN, RN, CRRN, RAC-CT is Director-Clinical Advisory Services at Senior Living Services. A member of the Parente Beard LLC Senior Living Services Group for greater than ten years, Sophie has more than 30 years of healthcare experience with an extensive background that includes acute care, acute rehabilitation, long term care and education. She is a registered nurse who has worked in positions from nursing assistant to supervisor, unit manager and Director of Nursing in both for-profit and not-for-profit facilities. Her areas of expertise include operations, staff development, MDS accuracy audits and training, documentation compliance, supervisory/management training and monitoring, OBRA survey preparation and clinical compliance programs. Sophie has been an educator for Pennsylvania State University in the nursing continuing education program and also has been approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to provide directed inservices to providers following licensure and certification surveys, when these are mandated for compliance. She has presented seminars and provided consulting services to skilled nursing facilities nationally. Sophie has been published twice in Provider magazine, has had a chapter published in Post Acute Sourcebook 2000 and has reviewed OBRA and PPS education manuals for the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators (AANAC). Candace is Senior VP of Operations/Chief Operating Officer for Affinity Health Services. She has several years of experience in long term care as an RN, Director of Nursing, staff development coordinator, quality assurance nurse and interim administrator. Additionally, Candace has worked for Pennsylvania s quality improvement organization, Quality Insights of Pennsylvania, where she assisted nursing facilities with quality improvement principles. More recently, Candace has experience as an operational nurse consultant and a manager for a large consulting firm. Candace holds both a Bachelor of Science and Master s degree in Health Administration from Penn State University. She serves on the Nurse Reviewer Unit for the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association. Her areas of expertise include nursing facility operations, operations assessment, PPS/MDS/Case Mix enhancement, survey support, staff development and quality improvement.
