Jyväskylä - located at the northern end of Lake Päijänne, the provincial capital Jyväskylä is home of the Neste Oil Rally Finland, the Finnish leg of the rally world championship. Lappeenranta - is the commercial and educational centre of South Karelia, the gateway to Lake Saimaa, to the Saimaa Canal and also to Russia.
