1 ANNUAL EEO PUBLIC FILE REPORT KCAU October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015 The purpose of the EEO Public File Report ( Report ) is to comply with Section (c)(6) of the FCC s EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following station(s): KCAU The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning October 1, 2014 to and including September 30, 2015 (the Applicable Period ). The FCC s EEO Rule Requires that this Report contain the following information: 1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Stations comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period; 2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment sources(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section (c)(1)(ii) of the EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number; 3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period; 4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and 5. A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section (c)(2) of the FCC rules. Appendices 1, 2 and 3 which follow have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information. 10 Appendix 3 to Annual EEO Public File Report Covering the Period from October 1, 2014 through September 30, 2015 Station(s) Comprising the Station Employment Unit: KCAU, Sioux City, IA Section 3: Supplemental (Non-Vacancy Specific) Recruitment Activities Undertaken by KCAU Recruitment Initiative 1 Establishment of an internship program designed to assist members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment 2 Participation in job fairs by station personnel who have substantial responsibility for hiring decisions 3 Participation in events sponsored by educational institutions relating to career opportunities in broadcasting Description KCAU offers internships in various departments as an opportunity for students to apply their classroom theory to practical work experience. Our internship program offers students the opportunity to experience firsthand the reality of working in the television broadcast industry, and allows us to build goodwill in the communities in which we operate. Spring Semester 2015 we had one intern: Western Iowa Tech Community College Summer 2015 we had one intern: Northwestern College On October 27, 2014 our Operations Manager and News Director participated in the University of South Dakota - Broadcast / Media Job Fair which was open to the Mass Communication and Journalism Departments. They spoke with several students, two of which expressed interest in internship and job opportunities. On January 9, 2015, a meteorologist was invited to speak to at Orange City Elementary. He spoke about weather forecasting, responsibilities and daily routine in producing a weathercast. He also answered student questions about working in broadcast television and meteorology.

11 4 Participation in events sponsored by educational institutions relating to career opportunities in broadcasting 5 Providing training to management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination 6 Participation in job fairs by station personnel who have substantial responsibility for hiring decisions 7 Participation in events sponsored by educational On January 16, 2015, a meteorologist was invited to speak to at Lawton Junior and High School students. He spoke with 8 th grade science students about meteorology and weather forecasting, and the technology involved in forecasting. He also talked about responsibilities in producing a weathercast and answered student questions about working in broadcast television and meteorology. The General Manager and Business Manager periodically hold Equal Employment Opportunity meetings to educate department heads as to their EEO role and responsibilities. October 2, 2014, December 12, 2014, December 9, 2014, February 3, 2015, February 10, 2015, April 28, 2015, June 2, 2015, June 30, 2015, June 30, 2015 and September 15, At these meetings, management analyzes recruitment sources and discusses upcoming job fairs to ensure that managers with hiring authority will be in attendance and ensure that department heads understand their EEO reporting requirements. During these meetings, the General Manager and Administrative Assistant also educate department heads as to their responsibility to successfully communicate job responsibilities and expectations, to offer job training and to dispense annual reviews to employees in a non-discriminatory fashion. And all aspects of compliance such as reaching our community, recruiting efforts, outreach, wide dissemination, and self-assessment. On March 18, 2015 our Operations Manager and News Director participated in the Northeast Community College Job Fair which was open to the TV & Radio Broadcasting Department. They spoke with fifteen USD students about job opportunities and internships. On March 18, 2015, our News Director spoke with the freshman class at Northeast Community College. He spoke with students

As well as internship opportunities. He shared responsibilities, daily routine and education requirements for a career in broadcast. He also answered student questions. On March 26, 2015, our news anchor spoke with numerous students at Briar Cliff University at a luncheon about a career in broadcasting. She shared her experiences and spoke with the students about job opportunities in television and the education needed to obtain a job in broadcast television. On July 17, 2015 our Operations Manager attended a forum at Western Iowa Tech Community College. She met with professionals of the Broadcasting and Journalism to discuss what broadcasters are looking for in employees. Western Iowa Tech will be implementing these traits into new curriculum. KCAU-TV participates in numerous job banks and internet programs in the states of Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota designed to promote outreach generally, as well as those sponsored by TVJobs.com, Medialine.com, the Iowa Broadcasters Association, and the Iowa Broadcast News Association. These organizations have programs designed for outreach generally, and are not primarily directed to providing notification of specific jobs vacancies. On September 25, 2015, our station employment unit co-sponsored the Siouxland Broadcasters Career Fair at the Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, IA. We promoted the event on air with in the newscasts and promotion, and also posted this on our ABC 9 website. Station participants included our Operations

13 women and minorities Manager and Promotions Manager. We received several applications from the job fair and spoke with students about internship opportunities.
