RECRUITMENT INITIATIVES # TYPE OF RECRUITMENT INITIATIVE BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY (MENU SELECTION) 1 Establish an internship program design to assist KAKE-TV has a long history of giving high school and members of the community to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment. college students' opportunities in a professional environment. Students typically spend a few hours per week for a semester working with newsroom employees and receive academic credit for their work. During the reporting period, our station hosted 12 interns in the news department from the following schools: Tabor College, Cedarville U, Kansas State U, Creighton, Indiana U, Nebraska,Butler CCC,Pittsburg State U,Cowley CCC, Sterling College, and Seward CCC. The interns worked in the news department and were supervised by the assistant news director and sports director. Their duties included shadowing reporters and assisting in the newsroom and on the assignment desk. On display were employment opportunities in broadcasting. vehicles & employers from over 4 different companies including a microwave truck & weather chase vehicle from KAKE TV.
