2 International Meeting Dear friend, Welcome to Barcelona! WELCOME MESSAGE Liver Transplantation from living donors as an alternative to conventional transplant, currently has a path of several years. While its implementation in Asian countries has represented the solution for a large part of the population in Western countries, it has failed the expected clinical impact. Therefore the risk to which it is subjected to the donor, as well as the high level of demand which requires welfare groups, the liver transplant from a living donor is still questioned in our environment and only the activity continues in transplant teams with a high level of care commitment. After 15 years of activity we believe that it is time to make an assessment of the current situation and future projections within the Western welfare framework. The target of this course will be the recognition of the efforts made by the different groups in the development of this therapeutic alternative, as well as detecting problems, which still persist, and their solutions. Likewise, the objective of this course will be to identify those technical, administrative and organizational aspects have been developed over this time and have meant a substantial improvement in the results. We hope that the quality of the invited speakers and program design, help us during the celebration of the course, to detect specific problems that persist today and the correct way for their most effective solution. Attending the course will acquire the knowledge necessary to allow to the attendants have a complete and comprehensive vision through the world of liver transplantation from a living donor.
