3 WORLDSPAN REMOTELINK Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration PRELIMINARY SETUP REQUIREMENTS The following is a list of requirements necessary to begin the setup of a remote workstation with a dynamic IP address: Current users running ABClient must disable this feature by remarking out DIAL from the AUTOEXEC.BAT file (e.g., REM DIAL) Windows 95/98 must be installed Need access to the Windows 95/98 CD or diskettes Modem must be configured correctly on Windows 95/98 Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.X browser must be installed An account provided by the home office administrator Minimum Hardware/Software Requirements Minimum hardware and software requirements necessary to setup a remote workstation include: IBM Compatible PC Pentium processor 100 Mhz 16 MB RAM for Windows 95/ MB hard drive Windows 95, version a, Service Pack 1 * -or- Windows 98, version * * If the computer being setup has an earlier version operating system (e.g., Windows 3.1), it is the customer s responsibility to upgrade the operating system to meet the minimum requirements (e.g., Windows 95 or Windows 98) Page 1

4 WORLDSPAN REMOTELINK Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration SETUP AND CONFIGURATION PROCEDURES WITH A DYNAMIC IP ADDRESS The following procedures were developed to assist you in the setup and configuration of a remote workstation with a dynamic IP address. The procedures include: Setup Procedures for Dial-Up Networking Create and Configure Dial-up Network Connections Establishing TCP/IP and NetBEUI Protocols and Client for Microsoft Networks Configuring a Static TCP/IP Configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.X Running the RemoteLink Workstation Configuration Utility Setup Procedures for Dial-Up Networking Use the following procedures to setup Dial-Up Networking for WORLDSPAN GO! SM 1. Double click the My Computer icon from your desktop. 2. Double click the Control Panel icon. 3. Double click the Add/Remove Programs icon Page 2

Figure 1 - Add/Remove Programs Properties 5. The Communications screen appears. Click the Dial-Up Networking check box to select it and click OK. Figure 2 - Communications Screen 6. Click Apply when the Add/Remove Programs screen appears Page 3

6 WORLDSPAN REMOTELINK Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration 7. The Dial-Up Networking components are installed using a Windows 95/98 CD or diskette. When prompted, insert the Windows 95/98 CD or diskette and click OK. The Copying Files dialog box displays Figure 3 - Copying Files dialog box 8. If the Version Conflict dialog box displays one or more times with the message, Do you want to keep this file?, click Yes. This concludes the installation of Dial-Up Networking. 7 WORLDSPAN REMOTELINK Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration Create and Configure Dial-up Network Connections Use the following procedures to create and configure Dial-up Network Connections. 1. Access My Computer from your desktop. 2. Double click the Dial-Up Networking folder from My Computer. 3. Double click Make New Connection. 4. The Make New Connection wizard displays. Follow the Make New Connection wizard as it guides you through configuring the connection to the home office. Figure 5 - Make New Connection Wizard 5. After completing the Make New Connection wizard, a new icon is created in the Dial-Up Networking folder. Highlight the new icon and right click Page 5

Figure 6 - My Connection screen with the General Tab selected 7. Select the Server Types tab. Click the check box for IPX/SPX Compatible to deselect it. The NetBEUI and TCP/IP check boxes should remain selected as shown below. Figure 7 - My Connection screen with the Server Types Tab selected 8. Click OK Page 6

9 WORLDSPAN REMOTELINK Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration Establishing TCP/IP and NetBEUI Protocols and Client for Microsoft Networks Use the following procedures to establish TCP/IP and NetBEUI protocols and the Client for Microsoft Networks. 1. Select Start from the Windows 95/98 taskbar 2. Choose Settings and Control Panel. The following screen appears. Figure 8 - Control Panel screen with the Network Icon highlighted 0699 Page 7

Figure 18 - Network screen with the Identification tab selected Validate or enter the remote workstation computer name (e.g., WK2002) in the Computer Name field. Validate or enter the Network Workgroup name in the Workgroup field. The Workgroup name is generally the Home Office LAN workgroup name. A separate workgroup name can be used for remote users (e.g., REMOTE.) Click OK. 15. Use the Windows 95/98 CD or diskette to install necessary components. When prompted, insert the CD or diskette and click OK. The Copying Files dialog box displays. Figure 19 - Copying Files dialog box 0699 Page 13

17 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration Configuring a Static TCP/IP Use the following procedures to configure a static TCP/IP. 1. Select Start from the Windows 95/98 taskbar 2. Choose Settings and Control Panel. The following screen appears. Figure 21 - Control Panel with Network icon selected 3. Double click the Network icon. The Network screen appears. 18 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration 4. Verify the Configuration tab is displayed and the TCP/IP option is highlighted. Click Properties. 5. Select the IP Address tab. 21 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration 11. Select the Bindings tab. Click to select the Client for Microsoft Networks option. Click to select File and Print sharing, if necessary. 22 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration Configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.X Use the following procedures to configure Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.X browser to WORLDSPAN GO! standards. WORLDSPAN GO! standards include specifying the WORLDSPAN GO! web site as the default home page. Refer to step 4 for more information. 1. Double click the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop. 2. Click View from the Internet Explorer toolbar. 3. Click Internet Options from the View menu. 4. Type in the Address field of the Home page section to establish the WORLDSPAN GO! web site as your default home page. Skip this step if you do not want this web site to be your home page default. Figure 31 - Internet Options screen with the Connection tab selected 6. The Automatic Configuration screen appears. Type in the URL field. Click OK. 24 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration 7. Select the Security tab. Select Local Intranet from the Zone drop down menu. Click the Add Sites button. Figure 33 - Internet Options screen with the Security tab selected 8. The Local intranet zone screen displays. Click the Advanced button. 9. A second Local intranet zone screen displays. Type in the Add this Web site to the zone field. Click the Add button. The web site address is added to the web site area. Click OK. The first Local intranet zone screen displays. 26 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration WORLDSPAN REMOTELINK WORKSTATION CONFIGURATION UTILITY FOR NEW WORLDSPAN FOR WINDOWS INSTALLATIONS ONLY The following procedures were developed for new WORLDSPAN for Windows installations only. Before you begin, insure the name of the remote computer is added to the GW.TBL file on the gateway. This file can be found under the WSPAN directory on the WORLDSPAN gateway. Running the RemoteLink Workstation Configuration Utility Use the following steps to run the RemoteLink Workstation Configuration Utility. 1. Insert the RemoteLink Workstation Configuration Utility disk into drive A. 2. Select Start from the Windows 95/98 taskbar. 3. Select Run. 4. The following screen appears. Type A:/setup and click OK. Figure 37 - WORLDSPAN for Windows Directory screen The Destination Folder displays the default of C:\WSPAN. If WORLDSPAN for Windows files are located in C:\WSPAN, click Next to continue. -or- Click Browse to locate and select the directory that contains WORLDSPAN for Windows files. Click Next to continue. 6. The Enter Server Path screen displays. The default Server Path drive is E. Enter the letter of a drive that can be used to connect to the WORLDSPAN for Windows network. If drive E:\ is being used, change the default to an available drive. Click Next. Figure 38 - Enter Server Path screen 0699 Page 25

28 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration Additional Information The following information explains the steps accomplished by the RemoteLink Workstation Configuration Utility. The WKSTN.DEF from the WSPAN directory is copied and renamed as WKSTN.INI in the WINDOWS directory. The WKSTN.INI is updated with the remote workstation s computer name. The Server Path is updated with drive E:\ or the available drive you selected. The workstation value is updated with 1. The WIN.INI file is updated with the appropriate font files. The path in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file is modified. The server path (e.g., E:\) and the WSPAN directory are added to the Path. The configuration utility creates the WORLDSPAN for Windows program folder and adds a RES MANAGER shortcut icon to the desktop. The last screen of the utility prompts you to reboot the computer for the changes to take effect Page 26

29 Dynamic Remote Workstation Setup and Configuration PROCEDURES TO ACCESS WORLDSPAN FOR WINDOWS 4.X The following procedures were developed for new and upgraded users to access WORLDSPAN for Windows 4.X. New Users New users should use the following steps to Access WORLDSPAN for Windows 4.X. 1. Dial into the agency s network via the Dial-Up Networking icon created earlier in the setup process. 2. When connected, double click the WORLDSPAN Communications icon on your desktop. The icon contains a batch file that executes NETDDE and LCM. 3. When the batch file has completed, click the WORLDSPAN Res icon on your desktop. Upgraded Users Upgraded users should use the following steps to Access WORLDSPAN for Windows 4.X. 1. Dial into the agency s network via the Dial-Up Networking icon created earlier in the setup process. When connected, NETDDE and LCM must be executed on the remote PC using the Run option. 2. Select Start from the Windows 95/98 taskbar. 3. Select Run. 4. Type NETDDE in the Open field and click OK. 5. When the NETDDE program has completed, type LCM in the Open field of the Run dialog box. Click OK. 6. Double click the WORLDSPAN for Windows icon on your desktop to access the application Page 27
