Ltd (TAECO) and others. The facility was created to perform composite repairs and overhauls with a focus on engine nacelles and components for Boeing 737NG and 777 aircraft. 4 Spirit Aftermarket: We re here for you Spirit AeroSystems became an independent company in June At the time, we had little experience in aftermarket services. Since then, we ve made good use of our time. In addition to an extensive parts catalog and global distribution system, we now have three FAA and EASA certified repair stations for worldwide MRO assistance, and we offer a full range of product support services including training and technical publications. Our objectives have always been to know our customers, cherish their trust, and provide not just fast response but also quality parts and service. Our long-term goal is to offer aftermarket support for everything Spirit builds and more. This special issue of Momentum magazine is intended as a resource for those customers who seek the best in products and services from a company they can trust. SPARE PARTS We maintain a perpetual inventory of the thousands of parts and components that we build as the original production manufacturer, or OPM. Our spares support desk is staffed 24/7 to provide customers with what they need, when they need it. Our global distribution network can deliver what you need, wherever you are. And we can help you develop a usage-based stocking plan that anticipates when you ll need material. Fleet customers can tap into Spirit s extensive knowledge and experience for anything we build, including aircraft structures, nacelles, and wing components. Our on-call field service engineering teams and go teams for quick-response repairs are ready to assist. And for emergencies when aircraft just can t be grounded for repairs, we have a rotable/exchange/lease pool of assemblies such as thrust reversers, sleeves, inlets, and core and fan cowls. We do what s needed to keep you flying. MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND OVERHAUL Even before we became Spirit, our U.S. facilities in Kansas and Oklahoma provided nacelle repair services. We now offer a range of MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) services including fuselage doors, structural components, flight control surfaces, modification kits, and nacelles and thrust reversers. The expertise Spirit puts into our original products also applies to our aftermarket products and services. That includes our proven excellence in producing and repairing complex, contoured composite components. FLEET SUPPORT SERVICES Field support is important to fleet operators. With operations in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, Spirit is positioned to serve the needs of our fleet customers around the world, even in AOG situations. Spirit has been designing and building Boeing components for decades. As Boeing s former commercial airplane division in Kansas and Oklahoma, Spirit has as much experience as Boeing does in parts and assemblies. Today we design and build fuselage, propulsion, and underwing assemblies for every Boeing model in production, and spares for some models that are no longer produced but are still flying. Our strong relationship with Boeing has resulted in Spirit becoming a licensed PMA supplier. We offer you benefits realized in time, quality, and cost. 11 AOG SUPPORT: DOING WHAT IT TAKES WICHITA, KANS. 11:30 p.m. The Boeing Rapid Response Center needed to find an expert on a 737NG that was grounded 6,000 miles away. Spirit AOG desk responder Steve Carty began the search by calling the vice president of Spirit s Fuselage production group. One hour later a 737NG engineer was talking directly to the customer. Our job is to help airlines keep their fleet flying, Carty says. He s one of a number of employees that staff the Spirit AOG desk on a 24/7 basis. We locate parts, put the customer in touch with experts, do what s necessary to respond in a timely manner, whenever the call comes in. We take personal pride in global support. With an average 30 years experience in aerostructure manufacturing, the responders have an extensive knowledge of how an airplane is assembled. This experience is critical to being able to quickly identify what is required to get the aircraft back in service. No one in the industry can match our AOG response nobody, Carty says. Even if the request seems impossible, we keep working until we achieve the solution that satisfies our customer s request. Coordinating with Spirit production and the airline, Cary arranged for Spirit to ship the glass only and the airline would install it. The window was shipped on a 6:30 a.m. flight the same morning. Not every request requires the AOG staff to go to heroic lengths. Most are routine requests and can cover anything that Spirit builds and installs. But to the customer, every request is important, and the Spirit AOG desk always works to the same goal: find a solution, and find it quickly. WICHITA, KANS. 2:00 a.m. A 757 mechanic was washing the airplane and accidentally slid down over the window, his belt buckle scratching the glass. Carty knew a window assembly was not available and could not be built up in the time the customer needed it. spiritaero.com 11

Our Kansas site has provided FAA-certified service since 2002, before we became Spirit. Our Wichita repair station was expanded and upgraded in 2009 to nearly triple its original size. In 2008 the Prestwick, Scotland, repair station came on board. Prestwick is European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA)-certified. Taikoo Spirit AeroSystems (Jinjiang) Composite Co. Ltd opened in November 2009 in Jinjiang, China, as a joint venture with Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd (HAECO), its subsidiary Taikoo (Xiamen) Aircraft Engineering Co. Ltd (TAECO), and other partners. The repair station services aircraft operators across the Asia- Pacific region. All Spirit repair stations are equipped to handle ongoing requirements and emergent needs. All have access to the same original parts that were original equipment.
