2 Early Years & Key Stage 1 Ages and abilities catered for appropriately Teacher, St. Nicholas Catholic Primary School Creature Features KS1 Find out about simple classification using our varied collection of animals in this hands-on workshop. Subject: Science My favourite part was reading stories Harrison, FREE Self-guided Resources Story Stacks KS1 Our two interactive stories encourage children to engage with the art collections. 3 Friends focuses on the ceramics collection and Vicky s Art Adventure is based on Audubon s animal paintings. Subjects: Art & Design, English I-Spy Trails KS1 Self-guided trails to support exploration of the building and displays. Choose from patterns, people, animals and sculpture.

3 Key Stage 2 The session was excellent. It informed as well as entertained the children... Teacher, Delamere Academy Animal Adaptations Investigate how adaptations help animals survive in this interactive workshop, which includes handling real animal specimens and skulls. Subjects: Science, English Secrets in the Soil I learnt that being an archaeologist is fun and exciting Jacob, 10 Travel back in time 100 years and join Professor Garstang s archaeological dig. Become a time detective and uncover hidden artefacts, sort and record finds, write object labels and create an ancient clay letter. Subjects: Art & Design, English, History, Science Behind the Scenes at the Museum ( Years 5 & 6) Scorpions, spiders and skulls! Students will handle objects from the museum collection, learn about collection conservation and create their own object labels. Subjects: English, History, Science

4 Key Stage 2 continued... Open Wide My class loved exploring the venue for tiles Teacher, St. Lukes Catholic Primary School Do our teeth have different uses? How do animal teeth differ? Find out through object handling, role play and a visit to our Victorian dentist s surgery! Subjects: History, Science Tile Tastic Using the Victoria Building s amazing tiles this session looks at the history of tiles, patterns, shape and symmetry. Students will also decorate their own tile. Subjects: Art & Design, History, Maths I liked it when we sorted the old objects Rami, 7 FREE Self-guided Resources Audubon Teachers Resource Pack Designed to support a class visit to the Audubon Gallery, containing paintings of mammals and birds. Subjects: Art & Design, English, Science I-Spy Trails Self-guided trails to support exploration of the building and displays. Choose from: patterns, animals, people and sculpture. Maths backpacks Making innovative use of the fabric of the Victoria Building, backpack themes are: 'Shape & Symmetry', 'Measuring' and 'Time'. Each backpack takes between minutes to complete. Subjects: Maths, Art & Design

5 Key Stage 3 Ms Hall was very engaging Mrs Forrest, Christian Fellowship Tiles, Trends and Terracotta KS3 Explore the Victoria Building s many design features, including its vast array of tiles. Discover the different architectural styles through exploration, discussion and observational drawing, then design and make a tile. Subjects: Art & Design, History I enjoyed designing my tile because I like being creative Sarah, 13 Behind the Scenes at the Museum KS3 False teeth to fossils! Students will handle objects from the museum collection and use different writing styles to create object tags and text labels. Subjects: English, History, Science I learnt that the Victorians were fond of a process called taxidermy Cory, 12

6 All Key Stages Campus tour was very informative and gave the children a good insight into university life Teacher, Bidston Avenue Primary School Free Familiarisation Tours 40 minutes A chance to explore the Victoria Gallery & Museum. Discover more about the history and design of the Victoria Building and the wonderful collections it now contains. Tours can be adapted to meet specific areas of interest. I liked the museum because it was exciting.
