Children will love this fun, action-packed, 30 minute class. Students will be introduced to ballet and creative movement, learn ballet steps, use props, sing songs, and begin to understand dance terminology. 3 pre-school Hooray for Ballet Calling all budding Ballerinas! Now is your chance to shine. Your child will learn the beauty and gracefulness of ballet. Basic positions, steps and moves will be taught. They will get to dance with princess crowns and magic wands. Stretching and exercises will be included to improve their flexibility, coordination, strength, and balance. Both classical ballet music and popular preschool tunes will be used. Let your child explore and enjoy the art of ballet. Last class is parent watch day. Ballet outfit and any color ballet shoes suggested. 8 classes. $140R/$161NR Thursdays 4/11 5/30 10am 10:45am Ages yr Little Dancer Combo This is a great beginner class to introduce your child to ballet, creative movement, hip hop, jazz, and tap. They will learn individual steps, across-the-floor movement, and combinations. Your child will use props while dancing to fun music. They use fun props like scarves, magic wands, & more while dancing to their favorite princess music. All dancers perform in class on the last day of the session. Enter your little one into the fun and beautiful world of classical ballet. Participants will learn ballet positions, basic dance steps, and a short ballet dance. They will twirl around, leap, kick, and dance with wands, crowns, and scarves. Come have your child dance to princess music and classical ballet show tunes. 4 pre-school Cool Kids Hip Hop & Jazz Come on girls and boys, let s have some serious fun! Put on your dancing shoes and let s boogie and bee bop to fun, lively music! The students will learn basic hip hop and jazz steps and routines. They will improve their coordination, balance, rhythm and social skills. The students will learn a dance routine that they will perform for the parents on the last day of class. Please be sure your child dresses in dance attire and wears socks/sneakers or jazz shoes. 8 classes. $140R/$161NR Thursdays 4/11 5/30 12:45pm 1:30pm Ages yr Kids Hip Hop Boogie Bounce, jump and spin! Your child will love this energetic and action-packed class. Learn basic hip hop dance moves to fun kids music while building confidence, coordination, and rhythm. Movement games, imagination, and creativity are all a part of this great class. Kids will perform on the last day of class. Children will learn basic tumbling like jumps, bear walks, crab walks, log rolls and leap frogs. We will do fun movement games and dances to help promote balance, rhythm, and body control. 5 kids Creative Dramatics An introduction to Theatre, creative dramatics facilitates exploration of the imagination through creative storytelling. The course includes skills in singing and performing. Participants will learn at least one song. 6 kids Get Up and Dance! This fun, upbeat dance course is an introduction to Hip Hop and Jazz technique. Dancers will learn basic technique through exciting warm-ups, across the floor exercises, and a creative routine that will be performed for family and friends on the last day of class. This class provides a great atmosphere to open up and boost selfconfidence, be active, and enjoy moving to the beat! Dancers should wear workout clothes and tennis shoes, dance shoes are optional. 8 classes. $140R/$161NR Thursdays 4/11 5/30 4:30pm 5:15pm Ages 7 12 yr Beginners Bharatanatyam This course will introduce an ancient classical dance form from south India called Bharatanatyam. Children will learn the basic postures and steps, as well as some history and theory about this dance form. Every hour spent participating in and creating these events counts toward President s Volunteer Service awards, allowing high school students a platform for creative expression as well as having an active role in building community. The Teen Arts Council also serves as a grant board, and offers financial assistance (along with a team of young executives) to projects that fulfill their mission.
