We are looking forward to another fun year of dance and can t wait to get classes underway. We hope you join in our enthusiasm! The purpose of this handbook is to provide basic information about our studio. It will enable you to have a readily available form with answers to those questions that most often come up during the dance year. Please feel free to call us with any additional questions you may have, to share concerns or make suggestions for improvements. Heart of the Valley Dance Academy Staff

All choreography and formations will be based not only on effort but on attendance. Please be prompt for class Instructors will not back track for students who are tardy. Dress Code Absolutely no jeans, dresses or street clothes are allowed in any dance class. There is no color requirement for any clothing. Ballet Students are required to wear a leotard and tights. Long hair should be tied back away from the face. Hair longer then shoulder length should be in a bun so eyes are protected when turning. Leotards, tights, skirts, t-shirts and other dancewear are for sale at HOTV Dance Academy at any time during the year. Stop at the front desk for help.
4 Shoes Each style of dance requires the correct footwear for comfort and performance. New shoes are always for sale at the studio. Stop by the front desk at any time during the year for help with shoes. Payment for shoes is due at the time the order is placed. All tap shoes (other then premium jazz taps) need to have buckles or elastic closures for the revue. No ties will be allowed on stage. We will also hold a new and used shoe sale at the studio prior to the start of classes. Parents may drop off used shoes to be sold at this sale with $2.00 of each sale going to Heart of the Valley Dance Academy. Students will be required to be at the auditorium 20 minutes prior to show time. Anyone wishing to go back stage will be required to show a backstage pass that only parents/guardians of dance students will receive. There will be no video taping or flash photography during the show. Students will not be allowed in the auditorium to watch the show. Parents are asked to remain seated and only leave the auditorium in between numbers. We have a fast paced, professionally run recital. These rules will be enforced to maintain that level of performance. Dress rehearsals will be held on April 26, 2011 and April 28, Both rehearsals will be a complete run through of the show. Rehearsals will start at 4:30 and end at 7:30. The Tuesday, April 26 th rehearsal will also be open to parents to watch and take photos or video. The Thursday, April 28 th rehearsal will be closed to parents. More complete information on dress rehearsals and the recital will be available the first week of April. Tickets for the Review Tickets will be based on a lottery system. The lottery will be held one week in March. Parents will fill out an order form with their choice of tickets indicated. Orders must be returned by the deadline. Orders received after the deadline will move to the end of the lottery regardless of the numbers drawn. Each family will pick a number to correspond with each night of the show. Number 1 will have their tickets pulled first. We will continue to pull tickets until the last number of the lottery has their order filled. Tickets will be limited based on the total number of families enrolled at the studio (approximately 8 tickets per show). All tickets are reserved seating. Additional tickets may be available for purchase after all lottery orders have been filled.
