3 This document provides instructions for installing Desktop Client on a desktop or laptop computer running Windows operating system. 1. System Information 1.1. Supported OS 1. Windows 7 and above 2. ios 8 and above (for mobile and tablet devices such as iphone and ipad) 1.2. Supported Browsers 1. IE 10 and Above 2. Chrome 3. Firefox Mozilla 4. Safari If you do not have the appropriate OS or Browser supported by CommandIG, you will need to work with your organization s IT department to get them installed. 2. Download Desktop Client 1. Login to CommandIG using your existing user credentials 2. If you have access to Governance features, navigate to the File Sync and Share component by clicking the Digital Files link on the CommandIG landing page. 3. The File Sync and Share component will display the online help guide. If you have closed this guide, just click on the help (?) icon at the far top right corner of CommandIG screen. A. Download Option 1: Help Screen 3

4 i. On the help screen, click on Download Windows Client ii. An executable (.exe) file will be downloaded. Please remember the location of download folder. In some browsers you will be asked to choose a location for saving the.exe file. Please choose a location that you can remember. B. Download Option 2: Settings Page i. Click on the profile icon (little man icon) on the top right corner of the screen ii. Then click on Settings iii. iv. On the settings page, click on Desktop Integration (Windows) link in the bottom left side of the screen An executable (.exe) file will be downloaded. Please remember the location of the download folder. In some browsers you will be asked to choose a location for saving the.exe file. Please choose a location that you can remember.. 4

5 3. Install Desktop Client You need to have administrative privileges on your computer in order to install the CommandIG desktop client. If you do not have administrative privileges please create a support ticket with your IT department to install the client and provide them this guide. 1. Once the download is completed, navigate to the download folder and double click on the.exe file. This dialog box will appear. Click on Run. 4. This screen will appear asking to select the language. Click on Next. 5. This setup wizard will appear. Click on Next 5

6 6. You will be asked to choose whether to install MS Office Add-Ins or not. Make your preferred selection and click Next. The Add-Ins are disabled by default. 7. You will be asked to select a location for the installation directory. Unless you have a different preference for the installation directory, Click Next 8. You will be shown the Connection and directory configuration screen. Click Next. 6

7 9. You are now ready to install. Click Install 10. The installation wizard will start and ask you to confirm. Click Yes 7

8 11. CommandIG installation will begin on your computer. Let it finish. 12. After the installation is complete, you will receive this confirmation, click on Finish 8

9 4. Configure Desktop Client Clicking on Finish during the installation step will complete the installation and start CommandIG on your computer. It will automatically open your default browser with the screen below. If your default browser is not supported, please make sure you make a supported browser your default browser for the set up to complete. You can revert to your favorite browser as default at the end of the set up process. 1. The browser window shown below opens up on its own at the end of installation completion. If it does not open on its own, click on Start Menu > All Programs > Recall > CommandIG > CommandIG Synchronization Manager to open this screen. 2. Enter your user id and password again. This is a one-time set up and in the future you will not be asked to login again. You will be logged in and the screen shown below will appear. Click on Configure. 3. This window will appear asking for confirmation. Click on Allow 9

10 4. You will be asked for a confirmation. Click on Allow and CommandIG will be configured on your computer. 5. Locate your system tray (right bottom of the screen) and right click on the little r icon for options to open CommandIG. You can close the browser window at this time. Your configuration is complete. 5. Add CommandIG to Windows Explorer favorites In order to make CommandIG appear in your Windows Explorer by default so that you don t have to locate the r icon, follow the steps described below: 10

11 1. Right click on the r icon in your system tray 2. Click on Settings > General 3. Click on the Directory tab on this box 4. Check the check boxes for both Display in Windows Libraries and Display in Windows Favorites and click on Save 11

12 5. To verify that CommandIG now appears in Windows Explorer, open Windows Explorer by right clicking on the Start Menu and selecting Open Windows Explorer. It will show you the CommandIG folder similar to any other folder or Shared Drive on your computer. 6. Next time when you need to use CommandIG desktop client, you don t need to login. Just open your Windows Explorer and it is right there. Enjoy! 12

13 6. Perform Offline Synchronization By default CommandIG synchronizes your files with the server every 30 minutes. You can change the automated settings as well as perform manual synchronization. In order to change the default synchronization settings, follow the steps described below 1. Right click on the r icon in your system tray 2. Click on Settings > General 13

14 3. Go to the drop down menu for Interval for automatic synchronization 4. Select the desired period of automatic synchronization and click on Save 14

15 In order to perform manual synchronization, follow the steps described below: 1. Right click on the r icon in your system tray 2. Click on Start Synchronization. This will start synchronizing your folders with those on the server. 3. To validate open Windows Explorer and navigate to CommandIG folder. A. A sync mark suggests latest files on server are being downloaded to the desktop. B. An upward arrow mark suggests that files are more recent on your computer and they are being uploaded to the server C. A green tick mark suggests that the files are fully synchronized 15
