10 Get yourself organized and know what you need to do! Know your deadlines! (regular, merit, scholarship, etc) Letters of recommendation! Request transcripts! Send SAT/ACT/AP scores!

11 A Transcript is an official copy of a student s academic record. It includes: Course names from 9 th -11 th grade Final grade for each course Senior courses Weighted AND Unweighted GPA and Class Rank after Oct 1st No SAT, PSAT, HSA, ACT, or AP scores will be included.

12 You will need to complete/update: Submit your COMPLETED packet to Student Services at least 30 school days prior to your college application deadlines (REMEMBER: Holidays/Breaks). $4 for each transcript requested Official transcripts for schools that DO NOT ACCEPT electronic transcripts, will be mailed by the Student Services office

15 Click on About me tab in Naviance Surveys are linked on the left There should be 4 surveys: Counselor Survey, Optional Parent Survey, and 2 Teacher surveys. Complete this ASAP we assigned this to all seniors last year in June.

17 Complete Teacher Recommendation forms and hand to teacher face to face Note: Only add schools to the recommendation form that you want that particular teacher to complete. Some schools will only want one teacher recommendation Add teacher recs on Naviance: Go to Colleges Tab Click on Colleges I m Applying to Scroll to bottom and add teachers

18 Some colleges require letters of recommendation from one or more teachers. Follow the directions that the college has stated about the selection of teachers and number of letters needed. Provide any updated autobiographical information or changes to your resume on Naviance for teachers and counselors! Follow up with a thank you note for writing your recommendations! Request letters in person -Recommendation Letter Request Form and electronically via Naviance

20 COLLEGES/UNIVERSITIES MAY REQUIRE A TEACHER EVALUATION FORM OR A SCHOOL COUNSELOR FORM to be filled out and accompany the written recommendation. DON T WORRY teachers and counselors will send this form (and the recommendation) ELECTRONICALLY. We will print out the form and send it to schools who do not accept electronic submissions.

21 Create a Common Application account Add colleges that use common app that you plan on applying Complete Education section of Common App. You must add at least 1 college!!!!

23 Complete Transcript request form and turn into Registrar 30 school days before First deadline If a college has a rolling deadline, choose when you would like it sent by If you have switched counselors, identify who you would like to complete it This form is also used for NCAA and Community colleges (anything that requires an official transcript)

28 Though you may have already added teachers on Naviance, you can t assign teachers to each college until after you meet with registrar. It is very important you don t miss this step. Teachers must be assigned to schools by you or it won t send,

29 If you are using common application, you must match the accounts Following Video is found on the homepage of your Naviance Family Connection page: If you are not using COMMON APP at all, you do not need to do this.

30 Create Common Application Account: Complete Education section Add at least one college to your My Colleges tab in the College Search tab Under the My Colleges tab, click on one college (on left hand side), the click on Recommenders and FERPA. Complete this section. Go back to Naviance, Colleges Tab, Colleges I am Applying to, match you accounts by entering the you used for your Common App.

31 Before you can match, make sure you have completed the following in Common APP: Added at least one college, Completed Education section Signed FERPA waiver in Common App Make sure the address you type into Naviance is the same as the one you used on the Common App. In Naviance, you must choose Commom App for those colleges in the Colleges I m Applying to section.

32 SAT: ACT: October SAT and September ACT tests should be scored by November 1, make sure to choose that you would like the scores sent directly to colleges

33 ***REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR SAT or ACT SCORES DIRECTLY TO THE UNIVERSITIES/COLLEGES TO WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING. WE DO NOT SEND SAT or ACT SCORES.

34 Go to to create account and began registering NCAA requires Official Transcript Add NCAA in Naviance and add to Transcript Request Form -Only if you plan on playing NCAA sport

35 Application needs to be completed before college provided deadlines (does not need to be completed 30 days in advance) You are responsible for sending everything application and payment

36 Don t worry about this step right now. We will have seniors complete this at the end of the year. Just know that colleges do see final grades so don t start slacking or you could risk losing your acceptance

38 SCHOLARSHIPS: COLLEGES TAB under Scholarships and Money Check back often for updates FAFSA- You may submit after January 1, do as soon as possible as many colleges have deadlines. You can begin ahead of time

40 IMPORTANT!!!! If all of your paperwork was turned in on time, we will submit our paperwork. Then, it is up to the college/university to upload the paperwork on their end. When the college uploads the transcripts/ recommendations is up to them. Also, the college/ university has to then update their system (what you see online), and sometimes that can take a few weeks.
