1 COLLEGE APPLICATION STEP-by-STEP PROCESS September 18 30: 1. Complete Senior Profile and return to Mr Phelan (if not already done). 2. Complete College Deadline Table for critical dates for schools. Early Action requirements need to be identified and expedited. See page 2 3. Recommendations: Complete Recommendation Request form (see page 3; student resume) and provide to two teachers (Burke recommends two teachers regardless of college requirement. Additionally, Mr Phelan is doing a Counselor recommendation on each senior). Give teachers at least two weeks to complete. Have teachers return recommendations to Mr Phelan. (It is the student s responsibility to ensure teacher recommendations make it to Mr Phelan). Common Application Recommendation Form: Must be printed and given to teacher SUNY Recommendation Form: there is no form, recommendation is free text letter. School Specific Recommendation Form: Must be printed and given to teacher 4. Start Common Application, SUNY or school specific application 5. Sep 19: last day to register for Oct 25 th ACT 6. Conduct SAT/ACT test preparations (take prep course, self study) October 1 31: 1. Oct 11: SAT test GOOD LUCK!!! 2. Oct 17: Deadline for Early Action applications to be turned in to Mr Phelan - unless college deadline is earlier. 3. Complete Common Application (submit Common Application School Report, offline hard copy to Mr Phelan) 4. Complete college specific application as required for those that do not use Common or SUNY Application. 5. After online applications have been sent, turn in Online Application Tracking Form (blue sheet) and oversized Application Envelopes (obtained from home; one envelope per school) to Mr Phelan. (see purple sheet for proper addressing of oversized envelope). 6. See Mr Phelan/Mrs Enders for class rank and GPA 7. Oct 25: ACT GOOD LUCK!!! November 1-30: 1. Nov 6, register for Dec 6 SAT test 2. Nov 7, register for Dec 13 ACT test 3. Complete regular admission packets December: 1. Dec 2, all application packets turned in to Mr Phelan 2.
