1 Thank You for signing up for the 2015 Clif Bar Mountains 2 Beach Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k taking place on Sunday, May 24. Please review all information in this packet well before race day to make your race weekend a smooth and positive experience. Follow these Pre-Race Directions to ensure an efficient pre race experience! Visit the Mountains 2 Beach Marathon and 1/2 Event site for up-to-date info! Click on Important Race Documents tab. Read all information and look at all maps Bring Photo ID or copy of ID for any packet your are grabbing and any supporting documents to packet pickup Your bib number will be on a board at all packet pickup locations with your name Write it down. 4 In the event the 5k does not sell out before the race, day of registration will be available for the 5K ONLY and will take place at the 5k packet pickup location in Promenade Park. 5k Packet pickup and race day Registration Promenade Park: Figueroa and Shoreline Dr Bottom of Figueroa where it turns into Shoreline Dr across the street from the Ventura County Fair Grounds starting at 5:30 am There is NO PARKING at Promenade Park (see parking map below) BAG CHECK Bag Check will be available at the start lines of both the Full marathon and the Half marathon. There will not be bag check at the start of the 5k You will be supplied 1 (one) standard size clear plastic grocery bag (Do not put anything sharp in bag as it may tear) Your possessions must fit into 1 (standard) size grocery plastic bag. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!! No bags except the event supplied bags will be accepted at the bag drop CLEARLY MARK your bag with your bib number. (event will supply tags) Neither Mountains 2 Beach or any of its sponsors, affiliates or volunteers are responsible for lost, stolen or damaged bags/ items. Do not leave valuables in your checked bag!! Bags will then be transported to the finish line area Look for tent on event site labeled Bag Pickup Bags will be labeled by Bib Number. 5 COURSE DESCRIPTION (

6 Full Marathon- The Clif Mountains 2 Beach marathon is a scenic, fast and slightly downhill course that starts on Hwy 150 in Downtown Ojai CA. The course will then continue to make a 9 mi loop in Ojai which has the only real hill in the entire course (at mi 5-6). You will come back by the start line at mi 2 and then continue along a 20 mi long journey that winds from the mountains of Ojai to the beaches of Ventura along the beautiful Ventura River. Once at sea level, runners will be treated to just shy of 4 miles of ocean front scenery finishing right next the Ventura County Fair Grounds at Promenade Park. Your finish will be an almost 2 mi long straightaway running within arm's reach of the sand and a stone's throw from the water. Full Marathon Aid Stations- There will be 16 aid stations in 15 different locations. (some you pass twice) ***mileage is approx. Water stations will be located at miles:1.8, 3.8,6,7,9.25,11.25,12.5,14.1,16,17,18.25,20,21,22,23.5, and 25 Electrolyte drink provided by Fluid will be at miles: 3.8, 7, 9.25, 14.1, 18.25, 20, 23.5, 25 Energy gels will be provided by Clif Bar and located at mile 12.5 and mile 22 Basic First AID will be available at the all water stations. First Aid will be available at mi 7, mi 14.1, mi 20, and the Finish. Half Marathon- The Clif Mountains 2 Beach half marathon starts adjacent to mile 18 of the full marathon on Crooked Palm Rd. After heading north for approx. 3 miles, runners will make a sweeping U-turn and jump on course with the full marathoners and continue all the way to the beach, where your 4 mi beach front tour of Ventura will begin. Your finish will be an almost 2 mi long straightaway running within arm's reach of the sand and a stone's throw from the water. ATTENTION HALF MARATHONERS!!!!- The 5k will join into the course at mile If you are hoping to finish in 1:18-1:25, there will be groups of 5k ers on course. We will cone them off to their own side until they have a chance to spread out. Half Marathon Aid Stations- There will be 8 aid stations provided ****mileage is approx. Water stations will be located at miles: 2.75, 3.75,5, 7, 7.75, 8.75,10.25, 11.5

7 Electrolyte drink provided by Fluid will be at miles: 5, 7, 10.25, Energy gels will be provided by Clif Bar and located at mile 8.75 Basic First AID will be available at the all water stations. First AID will be available at the mile 7 and the Finish. EVENT TIMING All participants will be professionally chip timed by Race Wire. Results will be posted on the Clif Mountains 2 Beach site and the Race Wire site and the event face book page ASAP following the race. You will also receive a text message with your results if you provided your cell number during registration. FINISHERS MEDAL Upon completion of the event, all participants will receive their finishers medal. I tab For those of you who purchased your Itab personalized engraving plate for the back of your medal, we will submit results to Itab within 1 week of the event and they will ship your name plate directly to you with instructions on how to install it to your medal. AWARDS - Overall Awards There will be an awards tent in the finish expo area. If you suspect you won an overall award simply head over to the awards tent and they will look up your name and let you know. If you won, the volunteers will give you your prize right then and there. NO WAITING FOR A PESKY CEREMONY!!!!! Age Group Awards

Simply head to awards booth and collect your award there. RACE PHOTOS -FREE DIGITAL DOWNLOADS!!!!!! Your event photo will be professionally taken in multiple locations by Dan Holmes Photography. Photos will be available for FREE at CLICK HERE after the event. You will be able to link over from the Clif Mountains 2 Beach website as well. You will also receive your personal finish line photo from Racewire!!!!! Getting Here Aim to arrive 30 min before your scheduled shuttle to give yourself enough time to find parking and walk to shuttle pickup From the North/ Santa Barbara: From Hwy 101 take the Ventura Ave exit 70A. Turn right onto E. Thompson Blvd. Take Thompson Blvd..2 miles then: For the finish area turn right onto Figueroa St. and continue straight through the 4 way stop intersection. Promenade park will be on your left hand side. (No parking will be available)

9 For parking area turn left onto Figueroa St and head North to the where the street ends at Santa Clara St. Either left or right will provide many parking locations. From the South/ Los Angeles From Hwy 101 take the California St exit 70A. Turn Left onto California and cross over freeway. Make an immediate Right onto Harbor Blvd. At the four way stop at Harbor and Figueroa: For the finish area turn left onto Figueroa St. and continue straight through the 4 way stop intersection. Promenade park will be on your left had side. (No parking will be available) For parking area turn right onto Figueroa St and head North to where the street ends at Santa Clara St. Either left or right will provide many parking locations. PARKING There is NO EVENT PARKING at the Ventura County Fairgrounds this year!!!! The Fairgrounds lot will be open to people but we do not recommend it. It also is not free... Parking for the shuttles, the 5k and spectators will be in Down Town Ventura and will be on a first come, first serve basis. There are close to 3000 free spaces available all within a few minute walking distance of shuttle pick up and the finish area. Aim to arrive 30 min before your scheduled shuttle to give yourself enough time to find parking and walk to shuttle pickup. PLAN AHEAD!!! DO NOT WAIT TILL RACE MORNING TO FIND WHERE YOU WILL PARK, AND HAVE A BACK UP LOCATION JUST IN CASE YOUR FIRST LOT IS FULL!!! DONT BE THAT PERSON WHO MISSES THE RACE BECAUSE YOU COULDNT FIND PARKING. Event signs will guide all cars off the 101 freeway to the designated area for parking. It is up to you to use the City of Ventura Parking Map (SEE BELOW) to find a suitable and legal spot. Free parking locations near shuttle and finish areas (within 5-10 min slow walk)

Oak St. / Santa Clara St. -Enter from Oak St. or Santa Clara St. Parking Structure 1st and 2nd floor Please Be courteous to others. If you will be done with your race before 10 am use a pay spot!!!! They are FREE before 10am!!! There are ample pay locations available that are not enforced ( WHICH MEANS THEY ARE FREE) until 10 AM on Sundays. So if you will be done with your event before then, try to use a pay spot. ******Pay close attention to city parking signs. Many downtown parking spots are only free for 4 hours from the time enforcement starts (10 AM)That means you are good only until 2 PM. Mountains 2 Beach and its affiliates and sponsors are not responsible for parking tickets or towing charges incurred. PLAN AHEAD!!! DO NOT WAIT TILL RACE MORNING TO FIND WHERE YOU WILL PARK. AND HAVE A BACK UP LOCATION JUST IN CASE YOUR FIRST LOT IS FULL!!!

11 Start Line Parking Full Marathon- (NOT RECOMMENDED) There is extremely limited parking near the start line in Downtown Ojai. Hwy 150 will be closed to traffic in both directions from Signal St to Gridley Rd. with detours in place. If you plan to drive yourself, or are a spectator, parking is on a first come first serve basis and is in the residential area North of Hwy 150. Pay attention to all parking signs as Mountains 2 Beach and its affiliates and sponsors are not responsible for parking tickets or towing. Do Not Park in Athlete Drop off Zone. Shuttles will only take participants to the start before the race. NOT after. Half Marathon- There is NO PARKING at the start line of the half marathon on Crooked Palm Rd. Very limited parking for the half marathon start can be found on Ventura Ave both North and South of the Southern Crooked Palm Rd intersection with Ventura Ave. and will likely back way up forcing you to walk to the start. Pay attention to all parking signs as Mountains 2 Beach and its affiliates and sponsors are not responsible for parking tickets or towing.. Any participants choosing to park at the start will need to find their own way back up after the race. Shuttles will only take participants to the start before the race. NOT after. See map below for more info.

12 5k- Parking is in Downtown Ventura. There are ample pay locations available that are not enforced ( WHICH MEANS THEY ARE FREE) until 10 AM on Sundays. So if you will be done with your event before then, please use a pay spot. SHUTTLES Ample shuttles are being provided at no cost to you for your convenience. They will pick up at the corner of Santa Clara St and Junipero St. THEY WILL NOT PICKUP AT THE VENTURA COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS AS IN YEARS PAST. Simply find parking in downtown Ventura and walk to the shuttles and get on the correct shuttle for your event. (SEE ABOVE PARKING MAP FOR PARKING AND SHUTTLE LOCATIONS) *****If you get on the half marathon shuttle and you are suppose to run the full, there will not be a shuttle to transport you to the correct start line and vice versa. ******For overcrowding reasons, no spectators or strollers will be allowed on the shuttles. Shuttle Times Aim to arrive 30 min before your scheduled shuttle to give yourself enough time to find parking and walk to shuttle pickup. You selected your shuttle time during registration and it is marked on your bib.(you MUST RIDE ON YOUR PREDETERMINED SHUTTLE TIME) Shuttle staff will be there to make sure your are on the correct shuttle and at the proper time.

13 (In the event of over-crowding on shuttles, any racer with an earlier shuttle time on their bib will not be allowed to board the buses until all runners supposed to be at that time have boarded and only if there is room) IN SHORT, DONT MISS YOUR SHUTTLE TIME. Getting Dropped off? Full Marathon- To get dropped off at the Full marathon Start line driving from Ventura: Head North on Hwy 33 until Hwy 33 and Hwy 150 branch away from each other. Take slight Right onto Hwy 150. Continue into Downtown Ojai. Road closure for event starts at Ventura St. Take Left onto Ventura St and immediate Right onto Matillija St. Athlete drop off zone is between Signal St and Montgomery St. Do not park, simply stop and let runners out and continue driving. Be courteous to other runners and drivers. DO NOT PARK in drop off zone for any reason!!!! Then turn left onto Montgomery St followed by a left onto Grand. From there follow detour signs to get back to Ventura. See below map!!!! To get dropped off at the Full Marathon Start Line driving from Santa Paula: Take Hwy 150 North out of town (also known as 10th St.) Continue until in Downtown Ojai at Gridley Rd. Turn Right onto Gridley Rd then Left on Grand Ave then Left onto Montgomery St. Turn Right onto Matillija St. Athlete drop off zone is between Signal St and Montgomery St. Do not park, simply let runners out and continue driving. Be courteous to other runners and drivers. DO NOT PARK in drop off zone for any reason!!!! See below map!!!!

14 Half Marathon- You can either come from the South side (Ventura) or the North side (Ojai). If you are planning on parking/ watching start, coming from the North Side is recommended as there is more parking available. However both have very limited space. To get dropped off at Half Marathon driving from Ventura: Head North on Hwy 33 and exit at Shell Rd. Take Left onto Shell Rd then immediate Left onto N Ventura Ave. Road is closed at Ventura Ave and Mill Dr. Athlete Drop off zone is on the shoulder of Ventura Ave. Be alert when crossing the street as South Bound Traffic is still open. Drivers will turn around at Mill Dr and head back towards Ventura. Do not park, simply let runners out and continue driving. Be courteous to other runners and drivers. DO NOT PARK in drop off zone for any reason!!!! Simply walk North until you reach Crooked Palm Rd and turn left for port-a-potties and the start line.

15 See map to the right!!!! To get Dropped off at the Half Marathon driving from Ojai: Head South on Hwy 33 and exit at Canada Larga. Turn Right onto Canada Larga then turn Left again onto Ventura Ave. Head south and pass the first Crooked Palm Rd you see. It will be closed to traffic and connects back into Ventura Ave near the start line. Continue on Ventura Ave until you find a safe and legal place to park. Do not park in the Shuttle Drop off Zone. Be courteous to other runners and drivers. Simply walk South until you reach Crooked Palm Rd and turn right for port-a-potties and the start line. See map to the left!!!! WAVE STARTS All participants in the half marathon and the full marathon have automatically been placed into waves based on their expected finish times. Your bib will have two (2) identifying marks on it that tell you your wave. #1- It will tell you your wave color on the back of your bib: either blue, yellow or green #2- Your bib color on the front will correspond to your wave: either blue, yellow or green There will be colored flags at each start line indicating the beginning of the waves zone. Simply line up BEHIND those flags and wait for your wave to start. Waves will start in 2 minute intervals. You must start in your wave. SPECTATORS Because we are such a beautiful, secluded and scenic course, it does not provide a great platform for cheering on your loved one. The best place to see them running will be at the starts (parking is very limited and no spectators on the shuttles) and of course the finish area.

16 Pace Teams Pace teams are being Hosted by Inside Track of Ventura for the 3rd year in row. They are some amazing individuals dedicated to helping you reach your goals. A pace team has been set up for both the half marathon and the full marathon this year. There will NOT be a pace team for the 5k. Look for them in bright Orange Tanks or t shirts and carrying signs at the start. 17 TRAIN CROSSING??????!!!!!!!!!! At mile 22 for the full marathon or at mile 9 for the half marathon, there is a train crossing. As much as we wish we could get them to change their schedule for the day, the railroads just aren't having it. Luckily the trains that run on Sundays are short, and move quickly (Typically less than 30 seconds). You must stop at the train crossing if the guard rails go down. See below if you might be affected. Runners hoping to finish the FULL MARATHON in sub 2:10, 2:55-3:05, 4:40-4:50, 5:45-5:55, and 7:45-7:55 may be stuck by the train at mile 22. Runners hoping to finish the HALF MARATHON in 2:10-2:25, 3:00+, 5:00+ and 8:00+ may be stopped by the train at mile 9 We will have a volunteer there to record bib numbers of any person affected by the train and we will make adjustments as necessary. Charities CANNED FOOD DRIVE- Please bring 1 can of food!!! Help us reach our goal of donating 4000 pounds of food this year. If every participant brings JUST ONE CAN each, we will surpass our goal and help stop hunger in our community. Please help by bringing just one can to packet pick up, the start or the finish line areas. Spectators can bring one too!!!! PRE RACE PAST DINNER- In case you haven't heard, there will be a pre race pasta feed. In conjunction with the end of our last packet pick up on Sat May 23rd 2014, 100% of the pasta dinner proceeds goes directly to Ventura High School Cross Country. What- Pasta dinner When- Sat May 23 at 6pm-8pm Where- Our final day of packet pickup at Ventura High School How much- $10.00 Didn't buy your dinner tickets on line? No problem, come with cash and/ or credit card and we can take care of you.

18 EQUIPMENT & CLOTHING All participants are encouraged to bring some warm clothes and different shoes for the post-race party. Sandals feel amazing after a race!!! Wear something old and warm to the start line. And simply shed the garment and we will pick it up and donate it to GOODWILL. Typical race start temperature is 55 degrees Typical finish line temperature is 72 degrees Wear Sunscreen!!!! Pay attention to our facebook page and website for updated weather info 1 week prior to the event. FOOD & WATER It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you carry your own water supply. Our course logistics and permitting constraints limits us on where we can put our aid stations. Ample post race food will be available for athletes only and includes but is not limited to: Oranges Bananas Watermelon Clif Bars Cookies Bagels Pretzels Ample water and electrolyte drink provided by FLUID will be available at the finish ****UPON FINISHING YOU WILL BE GIVEN A WATER BOTTLE. PLEASE HELP US REDUCE WASTE AND REFILL THE BOTTLE AT THE REFILL STATION Food Trucks- We have allocated some food trucks to be available come race day. Be sure to have some cash with you and your credit card so you can stay at the beach and hang out with us for the after party. BEER GARDEN/RESPONSIBLE DRINKING There will be an amazing Beer Garden with games available to all participants and spectators 21 years of age and older with beer by Figueroa Mtn Brewing Company from Buellton CA. A government issued photo ID will be required. No ID= No Entry Beer will be available for $5.00 (cash only) (tickets sold at race store) Proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. CASH AND CREDIT ACCEPTED BATHROOMS Porta-Potties and established bathrooms will be located at: Shuttle Pickup Start Lines Miles 2, 8, 13, 16, 18, 20, 23, 25 The Finish area ATTENTION FULL MARATHONERS- There are no bathrooms in Libbey Park near the Start line. There is an Art Festival that will be in the park during the early hours of the morning and we must not enter the park. All bathrooms for the full marathon start will be on Signal Street. INCLEMENT WEATHER In the event of inclement weather such as high heat, lightning, tornadoes, hurricanes and the like, Clif Bar Mountains 2 Beach Marathon and Half and Fast Green Racing Inc. reserve the right to eliminate select portions of the course, or cancel the event in order to ensure the safety of racers, volunteers and staff. Weather in the mountains can be unpredictable. Please come prepared for chilly morning temps and possible storms. Wear something old and warm to the start line. And simply shed the garment and we will pick it up and donate it GOODWILL. AFTER PARTY After your race, be sure to stick around and enjoy all the vendors, massages, food, LIVE music, the BEER GARDEN and just plain fun at the beach!!!!
