3 West Point Academy (Army) United States Military Academy prepare Cadets for a career as an officer in the U.S. Army Provides a 4 year college education Thousands apply each year, but only a few are accepted 1,002 students were admitted for Class of % were ranked in the top 1/5 of their class Participating in school, church, scouting and community activities will help you build a strong foundation in leadership Participation in sports is the best preparation for West Point s rigorous physical development program After 4 years, appointed on active duty as a commissioned officer and serve in the U.S. Army for a minimum of 5 years

5 West Point Academy (Army) The Summer Leaders Experience SLE gives HS juniors a week to experience life as a cadet to inform their college selection decision Fast paced program of academic classes, military training, physical fitness training and intramural athletics conducted during the month of June each year SLE window will open for HS juniors on January 13, 2014 for Summer 2014 If you are interested in the U.S. Military Academy, please schedule a day visit and experience West Point and all that the USMA has to offer Application process will begin spring of junior year

12 United States Air Force Academy Prepares young men and women to become officers in the U.S. Air Force Out of 12,000 applicants each year, just over 1,000 are admitted as cadets Average SAT Verbal: 643 Average SAT Math: 674 Must pass physical test as well Complete the course of instruction at the Academy and serve as a commissioned officer in the Air Force for at least 8 years after graduation, 5 of which must be active duty Flight training is a longer time commitment
13 United States Air Force Academy Participation in athletics as well as leadership roles in athletic and non athletic extracurricular activities are critical Should apply for admission between March 1 of your junior year and December 31 of your senior year Starting in July between junior and senior years, a Candidate Kit will be mailed home if you have met initial criteria to enter into the candidate phase of application process Must have a nomination (Congressional, Vice President)
