5 TRAILER CONNECTORS Designed for vehicles with reversing sensors, these sockets feature an in-built reed switch that deactivates the sensors while a trailer is connected. This prevents constant beeping from the sensors that detect the close proximity of the trailer. The reed switch disconnects the reverse sensor once the socket lid is opened for plug connection. 9 HEAVY-DUTY TRAILER CONNECTORS Heavy-duty plugs and sockets are manufactured in accordance with the current SAEJ0 standards and thereby meet Australian standard AS for heavy-duty connectors. Made in the USA the connectors are rated at 40 amp continuous duty and are interchangeable with all other SAEJ0 plugs and sockets. The earth terminal (Pin no. ) is self-grounding (die cast only), has a peak rating of 70 amps and will accept wire sizes from 4.8mm. The terminals inside the connectors are electro-plated solid brass to ensure minimal voltage drop and protection against corrosion. The Narva plugs feature a special weatherbeater internal seal to prevent water ingress and a spring guard provides extra cable protection near the plug. 10 ELECTRICAL SUZI COILS Narva now offers two different suzi coil types. Choose from the heavyduty US made coils with tightly wound insulation and extraordinary coil memory, or select the new Australian made coils identified as Euro Coil due to the more open coil structure traditionally found on European trucks. Both coil types are designed to eliminate sagging with advanced insulating and jacket materials. Both are resistant to diesel fuel, petroleum, ultraviolet and commonly used cleaning chemicals. Each coil type is available with the existing Australasian AS-98 standard plugs. The heavy-duty silver or extra heavy-duty green coils are compatible with the 0 amp cable used on heavy haulage vehicles. The green units come fitted with the heavy-duty plugs and sockets found on page 4. These connectors exceed the requirements of 4/00 (0 amp) and are recognised as a proactive step to address the voltage drop problem associated with road train applications. Suzi Coils made in the USA carry markings referring to a core measurement known as AWG (American Wire Gauge). An approximate conversion to the more common mm or mm has been provided and also references the nominal current rating. NB: The term mm as opposed to mm is an industry reference and is not the actual cable size.
