3 Why Study NC 87? Significant increase in commute to Fort Bragg One of North Carolina s Strategic Highway Corridors Harnett County is the #1 bedroom community for Cumberland County 3

5 Study Area Facts 22 mile study corridor, from future 421 bypass in Lee County to Randolph Street in Spring Lake 3 counties Cumberland Harnett Lee 2 RPOs Mid-Carolina COG Triangle J COG 1 MPO FAMPO (southern ½ study area) Government cooperation is recommended 5

6 Growth. Over 60% population growth from in Harnett County study section Significant development occurring, particularly Spout Springs area Congestion will worsen 6

7 And high vehicle ownership. Over 85% of households have at least one vehicle Most households have two vehicles Is it worth leaving a car at home one day a week? 7
