Itroductio These Applicatio Notes describe cofiguratio steps ecessary for Avaya Commuicatio Maager with short umber dialig ad statio call appearace display to support Avaya Commuicatio Maager Release 4.0 Dial Pla Expasio feature. Short umber dialig allows statio users to dial a shorter umber to reach the same 13-digit locatio. For example, users ca use 4-digit dialig istead of dialig the full umber. The dial pla expasio is a feature i Avaya Commuicatio Maager 4.0 feature, which supports the flatteed, cosolidated, ad expeded eterprises. The sample cofiguratio depicted i this documet cosists of 3 locatios. The Mai Locatio is cofigured to have11-digit extesios startig with xxxx. Remote Locatio 1 is cofigured to have11-digit extesios startig with xxxx. Remote Locatio 2 is located i Europe ad is cofigured to have12-digit extesios startig with xxxx. Avaya Commuicatio Maager is admiistered to have differet legth uiform dial pla withi a locatio ad across locatios. The Mai ad Remote Locatio1 site users will use a 5- digit short umber dialig ad Remote Locatio 2 users will use a 4- digit dialig. If a uique dialed patter for a locatio is available, short umber dialig ca be admiistered for iter locatio dialig. I the sample cofiguratio, users will use a 6-digit short umber dialig to reach users i aother locatio. I these Applicatio Notes, statio call appearaces are admiistered to display short umbers for itra locatio calls ad full extesio umbers for iter locatio calls. Itra locatio calls: o Mai ad Remote Locatio 1 telephoes display 5-digit o the statio display. o Remote Locatio 2 telephoes display 4-digit o the statio display. Iter locatio calls: o All telephoes display full extesio umber. Figure 1 illustrates the cofiguratio used to verify these Applicatio Notes. The Mai Locatio cosists of Avaya S8710 Media Servers with oe Avaya Sigle Carrier Cabiet (SCC1). The Remote Locatio cosists of a Avaya IG550 Media Gateway. The EMEA Locatio cosists of a Avaya G650 Media Gateway. All IP telephoes register to Avaya Commuicatio Maager ruig o the Avaya S8710 Media Servers at the Mai Locatio. Note: These Applicatio Notes assume that all locatios depicted i Figure 1 are already i place, as well as Avaya Commuicatio Maager, Avaya Media Gateway, routers ad switches. 3 Figure 1: Network Cofiguratio Diagram 1.1. Short Extesio Number Dialig If short extesio umber is admiistered, users ca use short extesio umber to register their IP phoes. It also ca be used for older IP phoes that are ot supportig the 13-digit extesios. O the IP telephoes, the top lie of the display is the extesio umber, which the user etered o the keypad to register the telephoe. The extesio umber displayed o the top lie of the telephoe may ot match the extesio umber displayed o call appearaces. For example, if user eters 12-digit extesio umber (for example, ) to register the IP telephoe while the call appearace is admiistered to display 4-digit extesio umber (5011), 3 of 15

4 the top lie of the display will show the upuctuated 12-digit extesio umber ( ), but the call appearace will display the 4- digit extesio umber (5011). For admiisterig short extesio umber please refer to Sectio 4 of these Applicatio Notes Cofigure Avaya 9600 Series SIP Telephoes with Dial Pla Expasio The default settig of the 9600 series SIP telephoes will display the Avaya oe-x logo. Whe the logo is displayed, the call appearace will oly show up to 7 digits. To display more tha 7 digits o the call appearace, the logo o the phoe eeds to be disabled. The followig steps ca be used to disable the logo o the9600 SIP telephoe. From the telephoe, perform the followig: Press the A Meu butto ad the press Select to select Optios & Settigs. The Optios & Settigs scree appears, scroll dow to Scree & Soud Optios. press Select. The Scree & Soud Optios scree appears, scroll dow to Backgroud Logo. press the > key to select oe. 8 5. Admiister the Dial Pla for short umber dialig withi locatio. Issue the chage dialpla aalysis commad. Cofigure dial pla etries for the three locatios. I the Dialed Strig field, eter a uique strig that correspods to that locatio s dial pla. To cofigure short umber dialig for itra locatio dialig, issue the chage locatios commad. For each locatio, eter the followig values: Name: Eter a descriptive locatio ame. Timezoe: Desigate the time zoe locatio that the other locatios will be used to determie the offsets for all locatios. Use 00:00 for that Timezoe offset. For other locatios, set the Timezoe offset based o the iitial locatio. Disp Parm: Eter the umber of the display-parameters, which will be used for call appearace display. This value is used i Step 10. Prefix: Eter the prefix for each locatio. I the matchig patter field, eter a uique strig that correspods to that locatio s dial pla. Eter the followig values: Create etries for each of the locatios: I the Matchig Patter field eter the Dialed Strig value from Step 8. Eter the total legth of the umber i the Le field. Eter the umber of digits to delete i the Del field. Eter the digits that will be iserted i the frot of the dialed strig i the Isert Digits field. Net: Eter ext. 11 10. To admiister the statio call appearace, issue the chage display-parameters <> commad, where <> is the Disp Param from Step 6. Eter the followig values: Iter-Locatio: Eter a locatio wide format for iter locatio call appearace of 11 ad 12 digits extesios. The detailed format iformatio ca be foud from the help scree. Itra-Locatio: Eter a locatio wide format for itra locatio call appearace of 11 ad 12 digits extesios. Default Call Appearace Display Format: Eter itra-locatio to have short umbers call appearace o the statio display as default settig. 12 12. To chage a extesio umber from 5-digit to 11-digit extesio umber, issue the chage extesio umber <x> commad, where <x> is the 5-digit extesio umber. Eter the 11-digit extesio umber as show below. Submit the chage. Note: The warig message at the bottom of the scree below is importat for the older H.323 phoes.
