1 PhD-course: Vascular Signalling: Mechanisms and Methods University of Aarhus, 5-8 September 2005 Aim and Content: This course will be concerned with the major signalling pathways in vascular smooth muscle, and the methods which are used to investigate them. The course is planned to include as much student-faculty interaction as possible. Participants: PhD-students and others interested in the function and structure of vascular smooth muscle. Language: English. Format: 4-day course will be based on lectures in the morning followed by group exercises, demonstrations, discussions and presentations by the participants in the afternoon. All course material will be sent to all participants prior to the course, and it is expected that participants spend at least 20 hours in preparation. As far as possible, all teachers will be present for the whole of the course, providing maximum possibility for interaction. Note. Each lecture will be followed by a discussion session, where questions previously sent out will be discussed. In the afternoon there will be either group exercises or demonstrations. The discussions will be based on a series of questions selected by each lecturer; and the group exercises will be based on articles and presentation of the articles by the participants. For the demonstrations, a number of techniques will be shown, where participants will be able to choose which sessions they will attend based on their particular interests. Each day will be concluded with a plenary session at which groups will present their findings to the other groups. Monday.
