2 Function List As a full functional Internet gateway system, MagnaGate come with the below functions. 1. Online Track Record The online track record function will log down the user device information as well as the server they are trying to connect to. These records can let the service provider provide more information if they get summoned by the court under the Evidence Act 1950 Section 114A 2. DHCP Server When the guest s computer connect to the hotel network (wired or wireless), the server will issue an IP address to the guest s computer. Hotel can specify their own range of IP address for the guest. 3. Fix IP Handling Some guest s computer may come with fix IP as what they use in their work place. Without the fix IP handling, the hotel staff needs to attend to the guest to help connect guest s computer to the hotel network. With MagnaGate, the guest s computer with fix IP can connect direct to the network without changing their network setting. This can save the time and reduce the workload of hotel staffs. 4. Login Page Once hotel guests connect their devices to the hotel network and start surfing using browser, MagnaGate will redirect them to a login page to key in username and password before they can proceed. This function prevents unauthorized persons to use the hotel network resource. 5. Prepaid Card Generator Instead of giving a free Internet service to hotel guests, hotel now have an option to provide better connection to the guest with a reasonable charge. Hotel can set their price base on different accessing time and bandwidth allocate for the guest. 6. Bandwidth Control Under a high occupancy / heavy connection to hotel network situation, especially when some hotel guests downloading using P2P software, it inevitably congests the Internet connection and causes other users experience a slow connection. With MagnaGate, each user will only use up to the maximum bandwidth as allocated to them by hotel. This function not only provides a better connection speed to all 2 P a g e

3 hotel guests but also helps the hotel in saving the cost in subscribing higher bandwidth. 7. Restore Status After Reboot Sometimes the hotel engineering team will need to shutdown the electricity in the server room for maintenance purpose. With the restore function, all the guests who has login before the system shutdown can use internet without login again when the system being boot up. 8. White List And Black List Hotel has a right to allow Director / VIPs connect to internet without login page and block users who misuse the resources. 9. Special NAT When there is a need for a computer / server at outside connects to the computer inside the hotel, the special NAT can help to forward the particular request to the computer in the hotel. This function is particularly useful when the hotel has more than one public IP address and the guest requires the public IP to connect to their work place through the VPN connection. 10. Location Access Control With the location access control, the hotel can generate username and password which can only be used in the function room. An attempt to login at guest rooms by using username and password assign to function room will be denied by MagnaGate. 11. Room Search With the cable connection and VLAN setting in the switch, MagnaGate can detect the guest location once they connect their computer to the network by using cable. This is especially useful when the hotel implements an automatic posting of the Internet access charges to the guest folio. 12. Web Base Management The management of MagnaGate is fully web base. The administrator can access to the system at any place and anytime through the internet. This can save the administrator from traveling to the hotel for just a simple modification. 3 P a g e

4 13. Device Management Other than work as an Internet gateway, MagnaGate also build in a simple device monitoring module. The administrator can key in all the device information into the system and the system will help to monitor the device. Once there is any device down, the system will send out the to the administrator. 14. Active Redundant Hotel will always want to provide their best service to guests. With the active redundant, whenever there is a service interruption in the primary server, the secondary server will auto take over the role as gateway. This ensures a minimum down time of the guest internet connection before the administrator can access to the server. 15. Multihoming Support When the hotel find out that the existing internet connection is not enough to cope with the guest demand. They can just apply another internet connection and connect to the MagnaGate. With a simple setting, MagnaGate will auto route the guest to the internet through different internet connection. 4 P a g e
