1 2016 Pricing Guide Authorised Financial Services Provider Registered Credit Provider Reg No NCRCP7
2 How transaction fees work In short, you pay either a fixed fee or a sliding scale fee, sometimes called ad valorem. An example of how a fixed fee works is that when you perform account payments at an Absa ATM, you ll pay a fixed fee per transaction, whether you pay R100,00 or R1 000,00. With a sliding scale fee, you pay a base fee for the transaction itself plus a fee based on the value of the transaction. An example is the Absa ATM cash withdrawal on a current account. There is a R3,95 base fee for the transaction plus a R1,30 fee per R100,00 withdrawn, which means a R500,00 cash withdrawal will cost you R10,45 (R3, x R1,30). 4. Rebate Banking You will not pay banking fees on certain transactions if you keep a set minimum balance in your account throughout the month. 5. EasyFee EasyFee is a Management Fee option where you pay a monthly fee based on the number of selected transactions you do each month. It offers you different pricing options to choose from, each with a set number of selected transactions. Once you have used all your set transactions you are charged a single fee per selected transaction and no out-of-bundle penalty fees. Pricing options at a glance To get the most out of your banking, choose the product and pricing option that best suits your needs and your pocket. As your needs change, relook your options. When choosing a transactional account, you can choose between various pricing options. 1. Pay-as-you-transact This is the standard fee pricing option, where you are charged a standard fee for every transaction you make. 2. Value Bundle You pay an affordable, fixed monthly fee from as little as R55,00 a month for a set number of transactions as part of your Value Bundle. On the Gold and Platinum Value Bundle, unused transactions roll over to the next month. Various value-added services are included. 3. Prepaid With this pricing option, an upfront fee is charged for all credits to the account. No fees are charged for transactions performed on Absa s infrastructure. Disclaimer: Fees quoted in this brochure are valid from 1 June Unless otherwise stated, fees include 14% VAT and are subject to change. Absa Bank is entitled, immediately and without notice, for each product or service offered to individual customers, to change the pricing option that apply to the same and similar business products and services offered to business customers. If there is evidence that an individual product or service is used for business purposes, or used in any way that is not allowed by the product terms or conditions, this may result in customers having to pay additional fees, or even the termination of the product or service. 50 Frequently asked questions For any other questions, please call , visit your nearest Absa branch or go to absa.co.za Where can I enquire about the pricing applicable to my account? You can view the pricing applicable to your account in this pricing guide or on the Absa website (absa.co.za). You can also contact the Absa Price Line on where we will explain specific fees and the various pricing options available to you. What is a debit order? An authorisation (mandate) that a customer gives to a third party that allows the third party to automatically collect money from his/her bank account. Remember that customers can also use bill or beneficiary payments to pay their bills. Customers who choose to use debit orders should make sure that there is enough money in their accounts to cover the debit order. What is an internal or external debit order/stop order? Debit orders/stop orders can either be internal or external. An internal debit order or stop order refers to an amount paid from one Absa account to another specific Absa account, e.g. payments for Absa Home Loans, Vehicle and Asset Finance, Credit Cards or Absa insurance. An external debit order or stop order refers to an amount that is automatically deducted from an Absa account and paid over to another non-specific Absa account. What is the difference between funds transfers and bill payments? An electronic funds transfer enables you to transfer money between accounts linked to your portfolio. For example, this transaction enables you to transfer money between your current account and savings account. A bill or beneficiary payment is a transaction used to pay a utility bill or beneficiary whose account is not linked to your portfolio of accounts (i.e. you would pay school fees, an electricity bill or rent using a bill or beneficiary payment transaction). What is a debit card? A card that enables a customer to pay money directly from his/her account when paying for goods or services at retailers who display the MasterCard/Visa signs. What is a MasterCard/Visa point of sale? MasterCard/Visa are the electronic payment networks that allow customers to use their ATM cards as debit cards at participating retailers who display the MasterCard/Visa signs. You must have either a Visa or a MasterCard Debit Card. You would use this to make debit card purchases. What is electronic banking? Banking conducted via the telephone, cellphone, an ATM or the internet. Customers require the use of a PIN to access their accounts using these channels. What is a PIN? A unique Personal Identification Number (PIN) that allows customers to access their accounts via the telephone, cellphone, an ATM or the internet. What is an Absa-supported ATM? These ATMs are supported by Absa and are dual-branded, i.e. Absa/Cash Express. Withdrawals made from these ATMs attract higher charges, but lower than Saswitch machines. How can I avoid rejected debit order fees? Always ensure that you have sufficient money in your account to fund your debit order or stop order payments. Subscribe to Absa s NotifyMe service to keep yourself informed of all scheduled transactions that are performed on your account. Arrange for your payments to be paid as close to the date of your salary/wage deposit to your account. Allow a day or two delay just in case your salary/wage deposit is late. Remember, you have the right to choose the date of the debit order that suits you. If you find a debit order deduction is incorrect, you must immediately inform Absa and the company/retailer involved, in writing, that you are querying the transaction. This must be done in writing within 40 days of the error. To stop a debit order you must notify the company involved and Absa in writing. It is your responsibility to ensure that the company concerned does not deduct the next debit order amount. It is also recommended that you place a stop payment on the debit order with Absa. Why should I opt for estatements? s are applicable for estatements. Convert to estatements and save on fees. You can register for estatements by logging onto Internet Banking and clicking on the Portfolio menu bar and then on estatements, or via Telephone Banking or by sending your request to official @absa.co.za What is a Barclays ATM transaction? It is a transaction performed on a Barclays ATM, anywhere in the world. Transaction fees for international Barclays ATMs are alligned to those of local Absa ATMs. Page 50 Pricing Guide
