2 Introduction Use this document to help you step through using the Demonstration of -Marketing.ie. The first screen that you will see will be something like this: Note that, as this is a truly live application, some of the Recent drafts and Recently sent reports maybe different, depending on who has been using this system. Creating a New Campaign In order to create and send an campaign, you will have to (a) have content, (b) have a template into which you will add the content, and (c) have a list of addresses. Over the next few page we will step you through the process of sending a campaign. In the first instance, we will use sample information. In the second case, we then help you to send an starting from scratch with your own information. 1. Using the Sample Campaigns Our first example will be to use the sample campaigns supplied. The screen below is the first screen that you should see: Page 2 of 14

3 This provides us with an Overview of our recent marketing activity. As you can see, we have a number of drafts ( Recent drafts ) and some campaigns that we have recently sent to clients (Recently sent campaign reports ). Let s start with a Recent Draft. Click on the first Recent Draft Take Your Marketing to a New Level. You should see the following screen: Page 3 of 14

4 This screen provides us with an overview of the campaign called Take Your Marketing to a New Level. From this screen, we can make changes to the campaign. We can make changes to the campaign details (Campaign Name, Subject, From Name, Name and Reply-to Address) by clicking on this button: We can make changes to how the campaign looks (i.e. the HTML and Text versions) by clicking on the following button: But let s get to that button in one minute. Before we do that, let s have a look at how the campaign looks. To do this, simply click on Preview link: In this case, a new Window will open with the current campaign in it. Page 4 of 14

5 Let s now say that we want to make changes to this campaign. Close this preview window, returning to the Create/Send page. Click on Edit my content : You will see the following page: Page 5 of 14

6 There are number of ways in which we can edit this campaign: Edit the content of the story Click on the pencil icon (as indicated below): This will open up the editing screen (below), which then allows you to update the Title, the Content and the Image. This section also allows you to change the attributes of the content (bold, italics, text colour, etc) and also allows you to add links to the content of the story. Page 6 of 14

7 Go ahead and make changes, saving as you go. You will see that the changes that you make are applied live as you make them. As well as being able to make changes to the stories within the newsletter, you can also make changes to the Newsletter Title (in this case is called Marketing News, but can change this to be Your Company Name) Also this Month section (which can be renamed to have different titles such as In Other News, Alternative Items or whatever is appropriate to your campaign) Try for Free section (which also can be changed to suit) Enter you Title (also changeable) Footer section (for the company name, phone number or whatever you choose) In fact, just about every section and part of the campaign can be altered to suit your requirements. Once you are happy with the edits that you have made to the campaign, click on the Preview button (top right hand side of the screen): This screen shows you what the campaign will look like when it is send. 8 If you want to continue editing the campaign, click the Make More Changes button (top left) to continue. When you are happy with the campaign, simply click the I m done, define my recipients button (top right): The next screen allows you to pick the list that this campaign is to be sent to (next screen) In this example, we have already uploaded 2 lists into the system, called Irish Celebrities and Test List. If we want to add/update any of the lists on this page, simply click on the Manage Subscribers tab (although, for this example, we will accept that this is the correct list and send the campaign). We will come back later and have a closer look at the Manage Subscribers section. Click Next. This takes you to a Campaign Summary page. If you are happy with the campaign, then click on the Preview ew and Define Delivery button. The next page is allows you to send a test before you send the real thing. This ia always a good idea as you now get to send your to various clients (such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, etc)and therefore see the as it will be viewed by the recipient. Once you have sent your test (which you can choose not to do) you will be asked to either schedule the campaign to be delivered at some time in the future or immediately. Make your choice and send your . Page 8 of 14

9 That s it! You have sent the ! 2. Starting from Scratch Now that you have had a chance to use the sample content in the system, it is time to create your own campaign. Click on the Create/Send tab Click on the Create a New Campaign link Step 1 - Define the campaign and sender Complete all of the steps on this page, to include Campaign Name, Campaign Subject, From Name, From Address and Reply-to Address. Click on the Choose my Template button (bottom right of screen) Step 2.1 Select the format of your Simply choose to either send a HTML or a text (the system will automatically create a text alternative for all HTML s). If you decide to choose a HTML , then you need to choose a template (which will define the format/look and feel of the ). A thumbnail of each of the current templates is shown on this screen. (Note, we can create a template for you with your own branding simply contact us). When you have chosen your template, click on Add my content (bottom right of screen). Step 2.2 Adding Content Using the instructions in the previous section of this document (starting on page 5), enter the campaign content (i.e. click on the pencil icon to access and edit each of the editable regions, etc). As you enter the content, you will allowed to update company name, other news and the footer sections, where appropriate. Your campaign will be automatically saved as you make the changes. 10 Remember, you can your keep, make further changes, view them and then go back to make further changes as often as you like the system saves as you go! At any stage during this process, you can preview your by clicking on the Preview button (top right), returning to make more changes by clicking on the Go back button. Once you are happy with the changes that you have made to the campaign, click the I m done, define my recipients button: Step 3 Who should the Campaign be Sent to? In this step, you are asked to choose a list of contacts to which the campaign will be sent. Pick one of the lists supplied on this page and click next. Of course, you may want to add your own list. To add your own contacts, click on the Manage Subscribers tab. Click on the add a new list link. You will see the next screen: Page 10 of 14

11 Give your list a name. Choose whenther this list should be single or doublle opt-in. Note that Single opt-in means new subscribers are added to this list as soon as they complete the subscribe form. Double opt-in means a verification with a confirmation link will be sent to the subscriber that they must click to validate their address before they're added to this list. This confirmation isn't required when you import your existing subscribers, only when new subscribers join via your subscribe form. For this example, we would suggest you choose the single opt-in option. You will then see the following screen: Page 11 of 14

12 There are threee ways to add your contacts 1. One by one. Simply type in the address along with their name. This is done directly onto the above page. 2. You can add multiple contacts by clicking add more than one at a time. If you are going to add contacts using this method, you will be asked to confirm that you have got the recipients permission and then simply add your list of contacts. 3. Finally, you can import your subscribers from a comma, tab or semi-colon delimited text file. Simply click this option on the above screen and follow the on-screen instructions. Step 4 Sending your Campaign Once you have defines your recipients/subscribers, click on the Create/Send tab Choose the campaign that you were previously working on. You will then be returned to Step 3 (the Who should this campaign be sent to? page). Pick the subscriber list to which you want to send your s. Click next. Page 12 of 14

13 You will be presented with a Campaign Summary screen. If you are satisfied that everything is in order, click the Preview and Define Delivery button (bottom right). Step 4.1 Send yourself a test It's always a good idea to send yourself a test before you deliver the real thing. You will see the following screen: Simply enter the address that the test is to be sent and click on the following Send the test button. (Of course, you can choose to ignore this in this case, click on Skip the test button). Step 4.1 Schedule the delivery of your campaign Either way, the next screen allows you to schedule you campaign. You can choose to send you campaign immediately or at some time in the future. If you choose to send your campaign immediately, simply enable this option and click on the send my campaign now button: Page 13 of 14

14 Alternatively, if you choose to send your campaign at some later time, then choose the Deliver at the following time option and click on the Schedule my campaign button: Of course, if you choose to send your campaign at some time in the future, you can modify (or even cancel) the campaign at any time before the scheduled delivery time. That s all there is to it! You have created your first customised campaign, using your own content and your own subscriber list.
