3 Creating a Newsletter You have five ways in which to create your newsletter: 1. Template Library: This option will allow you to choose one of our free Responsive Templates. 2. Use Current Templates: This option will allow you to choose one of your own Templates. 3. Import Template: This option will allow you import your own template via HTML, Word, URL or Zip file. 4. Use Own Code: This option will allow you to insert your own HTML code. 5. Import from RSS: This option will allow you to have your content automatically added from a RSS. Page 3

4 Create From Templates Our template selector offers multiple layout options and industry categories... Select your layout and category, then choose a template that best fits your requirements and edit in the editor. If you hover over a template you will then see you can click on it to expand it giving you a bigger view of it as shown below: Page 4

5 Once you are happy with the template, you click on Select and you will be able to start editing it. Page 5

6 Use Current Templates Choose this option if you d like to base your newsletter on one that you have already designed and saved as a template within the editor. When you click on the drop down arrow you will see you can use this template, edit this template or simply Copy this template. To use this as a base for your next newsletter choose either Use this template or Copy. Of course if you would just like to edit the template then select Edit Template. Page 6

7 Import from File If you would like to import an you have created then you can do so via our 4 options: Import an existing newsletter from a URL, a file, zip or MS Word. Important Note: With these options you'll have limited tools within the editor. Only templates created with our template selector are guaranteed to render 100% correct. Import via HTML or Text To import your template from HTML or text >> browse for your file and then choose where you will be storing the images via the dropdown menu. In this section you can select the option A new newsletter and import it as a new newsletter or alternatively use the Replace this newsletter option to actually override the newsletter with another. 8 Import from Word To import your template from Microsoft Word, browse for your file, and choose where to store your images. This option allows you to store your images on our server as the system will automatically import them form your Word document. Again, within this section you will be able to name the newsletter you are trying to import. Once the newsletter has been named click on the import button and the newsletter will be imported. Page 8

9 Import from URL If you would like to host the and images from your own site, choose the URL option and enter the URL. Import from Zip You can also import from a Zip file to import your and images within one process. Just select this option and browse for your file. Import to a new newsletter, by choosing the location to save to from the dropdown and then give your newsletter a name. If you would like to replace an existing newsletter, choose the replace this newsletter option. Choose the location of the existing newsletter, then choose the newsletter and select the import button. Page 9

10 Create a newsletter using your HTML Create a newsletter from a blank template using your own HTML. Important Note: With these options you'll have limited tools within the editor. Only templates created with our template selector are guaranteed to render 100% correct. Simply paste in your own HTML, save as a template or newsletter and you re done Create from RSS This option will retrieve the content from a blog (or any RSS feed) and format it in a stylish template. All you need to do is supply us with your feed's URL and tell us how frequently you want us to fetch your feed and send it, we will do the rest. Page 10

11 Manage Image Storage Folder Management: To rename or delete an image folder, select the folder and right click. To create a new sub folder, select where you d like to add it, right click and add folder. Page 11

12 Image Management: To move or copy an image, drag the thumbnail to the appropriate folder. To delete or rename an image, select, right click on the image and delete. To add an image, left click on the appropriate folder, and then click on the Upload icon. Copyright: We ve created a filtered Google search that does not display copyright images. However, there may still be some images displayed in the Google search that are protected by copyright. This means we can t grant you the right to use images for any purpose other than viewing them on the web. Page 12

13 Using Our Creator Before you start to edit your we suggest that you rename it by simply clicking in the title which will just state the date & time. If you click on the Title you will then be given the option to rename the as shown below: Also in the screenshot above, you will see there are 3 main links at the top of the editor: Save The first option is Save, this option will allow you to save your as a newsletter or as a template. If it is saved as a template then that means you will be able to use it as a base for any more s you create. Also as expected, this option will also allow you to save your . It is best to continually save your newsletter as you are creating it as our system will not automatically save it for you. Send a Test This new feature will allow you to send a test of your without actually leaving the editor. This will help you to save time & effort meaning you can see real test sends and make any required changes on the spot. As always, within this section you just need to add the To and Subject : Page 13

14 Preview The final link is the Preview option; this new feature will show you how your will look on a desktop computer, tablet and a mobile. As all of the free templates are responsive the will change layout depending on which device your subscribers are using making it as easy as possible for your readers to view. Desktop This preview will show you how your will look when viewing it on a desktop computer: Tablet When viewing the preview for the Tablet it is referring to tablets & ipads, as the tablets will respond to the way it is held we provide both Portrait and Landscape previews: Page 14

15 Mobile This preview will show you what your template looks like on a mobile phone and as the Mobiles will respond to the way it is held we provide both Portrait and Landscape previews: Page 15

16 Insert and Edit Content Blocks: Insert Content Blocks Drag and drop the content block to the appropriate location. Edit Content Blocks Once added the block will then allow you to add text & images to it, however more importantly you can style the content block using the Content Block option displayed at the top of the editor. As you can see, within the Content Block section you can add background colours, borders and spacing. If you would prefer to edit the HTML code for the content block then you can do so by clicking on the <html> block. Page 16

17 When hovering over any of the content blocks, you ll see the block highlight indicating the width and height size. Click on the + sign to duplicate the content block, and the arrowed cross (top right as in image below) to move the content block around. Alternatively if you would like to delete the content block then you can do so by clicking on the X, shown at the top right of the screenshot above. Page 17

18 Edit Text Once you have the content block you can alter the text & images presented within it by simply clicking in the block. Once you have done that, you will see the cursor has been set in place allowing you to make the changes. To alter the text style you can use the Text Format option which is presented at the top of the editor: Within that section you can change the styling of your text, add bullet points, indents and more. One of the main sections you need to be careful of is the paste options; when copying and pasting from Microsoft Word or a webpage it will often bring unwanted HTML code with it. To ensure that code gets removed before pasting you will need to make sure you click on the correct paste option shown below: Page 18

19 Insert and Edit Images: How to edit images Select your Image >> then click on Image Format to customize the background and add alt-text. Inserting an image Inserting an image is easy. Wherever you place your cursor, is where the image will be inserted. You can also add a new content block (top left) and add the image. Once you ve placed your cursor in the appropriate position, click on image, from the main media drop down tab. You can then upload your image from your account library, from the web (Google images) or upload your own. Your images will be saved in the Editor Images Folder. Page 19

20 Alternatively if you already have your image stored within your Library, simply select the folder it is stored in >> select the image and then click Insert. The Creator will automatically auto adjust the size of your images to create the best fit for your newsletter. If you use Google search for images, Google Search will save the image to the Editor Images folder within the image library. Copyright: We ve created a filtered Google search that does not display copyright images. However, there may still be some images displayed in the Google search that are protected by copyright. This means we can t grant you the right to use images for any purpose other than viewing them on the web. Page 20

21 Insert a Video Link: Insert a video link to create a thumbnail of your video. Thumbnails are currently supported by YouTube and Vimeo. Wherever you place your cursor, is where the image will be inserted. You can also add a new content block (top left) and add the video. Once you ve placed your cursor in the appropriate position, click on video, from the Media drop down tab. You can then insert your video link as shown below: NOTE: Insert the video URL, not the embedded code. The Creator automates a thumbnail shot of your video with a play button, not the video actually embedded into your newsletter. Once you have inserted your video link and clicked on the Set up button, you will then see a screenshot of your video and a play image place on top of it. You can use the slider to change the size of the image you would like placed in your . Page 21

22 Once you are happy with the image & title click on Insert and you ll see it presented within your as shown below: Page 22

23 Insert & Editing Links Within the editor you will see you have the tab named Links, it is within this section where you will be adding Anchored and standard hyperlinks into your . Inserting Anchors: Anchored links will allow you to have a hyperlink within your own , allowing the user to click on links so they are taken to sections within your . These links are best used if you have a long as you can add bookmarks at the top of your so your readers have inside navigation. To insert this, simply highlight some text or an image in the content block you would like the users to be taken to. Once you have highlighted the text click on Anchor and then name your anchor: Once the anchor has been named, you will see a flag to indicate the anchor has been set: Your next step is to highlight the text you would like to be used to take the users to the anchor: Page 23

24 Once you have highlighted the text, simply click on Hyperlink (option on the left) >> then change the Type to Anchor and you will see the anchors you have made and click Insert. Page 24

25 Inserting Hyperlinks: As you will know by now, to insert a hyperlink you just need to select the image or text that you would like to be used as the hyperlink. Once highlighted, click on Hyperlink and you will then see the types of hyperlinks you can insert. The first option you will see will be to insert a standard hyperlink, so all you will need to do is add the URL and name as shown below: You will also notice that you have access to use previously created links to help speed up your creation. We also allow you to insert a number of different types of hyperlinks which are: My Newsletters: This option will allow you to insert a link to a different you have created. Subscriber links: These links are placed into 2 categories, Footer Items which relates to the links you will locate in your footer such as subscribe, unsubscribe, forward, print PDF and more. You also have Other which allows you to insert an RSS, Microsite and Opt-in link. File Link: This option will allow you to select a file you would like to insert such as a PDF. Page 25

26 Add Social Share Options Place your cursor in the exact position to where you d like your social share icon to appear. Under the social tab, you see all your popular social sites to share with. Facebook - Allow clients to follow your profile/page, or allow your newsletter to be shared. Select your option from the popup drop down and enter your Facebook URL. Page 26

27 You can do the same for the rest of the social shares as each popup will guide you through the process. An example of the Facebook follow and share is shown below: Page 27

28 Insert Personalisation As always, you can insert personalisation into your so you can have an instant connection between you and your subscribers. You can insert Subscriber details which relates to your subscribers (customers). Alternatively, if you would like to insert your own details into the then you can do so using the option Your own details as the details will be taken from your user profile. Note: You can insert as many personalisation tags as you would like, so why not try including more than just your subscriber s first name. If you have additional information such as last product bought or location then use it. By doing this it will feel like you have catered specifically for each of your subscribers using their preferences and in return it can help sales. An example is shown below: Page 28
