1 How to make sure you receive all s from the University of Edinburgh To ensure that any from The University of Edinburgh - or any address you choose - is not automatically sent to your junk or trash folder, update your settings and spam filters accordingly with the help of this document. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list. We have covered the most popular clients, but the procedures involved will vary with other providers. 3 Outlook 1. On the main menu, click Actions : 2. Then select Junk then Junk Options : 3. Click the Safe Senders or Safe Recipients tab. Click Add : 4. In the Enter an address or Internet domain name to be added to the list box, enter the domain: ed.ac.uk 5. Click OK.

4 AOL Open AOL and choose Mail & Spam Controls. There are several levels of filtering available: 1. Allows all (default). 2. Allows mail only from other AOL members, blocking addresses from all other providers. 3. Allows mail only from people in your Buddy List and Address Book. 4. Blocks all Allows from all AOL and Internet addresses except those you specify on a 'black list' or alternatively, allowing mail only from the AOL and Internet addresses specified on a 'white list'. Note: While on this screen you should set the option Blocked mail should be to Delivered to the Spam Folder. We recommend you choose either setting one ( Allow mail from all senders ) or three ( Allow mail only from people I know ), three being the preferred choice for ease of use and security. Therefore you will need to update what entries you are going to allow. 1. Choose Custom Sender List.

6 Yahoo! To check if SpamGuard is on (the default), click on Bulk in the left navigation bar. Above the list of messages, if any, you will see a notice that says SpamGuard is ON or OFF. If SpamGuard is OFF, you should receive any mail from ed.ac.uk. However, you might want to consider turning it on. Click the text to the right that says Edit Settings to do so. (We ll talk you through how to enable it and still receive s from the University.) With SpamGuard turned ON, most spam will go to your Bulk folder instead of your Inbox. SpamGuard Plus SpamGuard Plus is an advanced spam fighting system that is customised according to your individual preferences. You tell the filter what you want and what you don't and over time, this feature learns to deliver the mail appropriately. SpamGuard Plus is only available to Yahoo! Mail Plus subscribers. You train the filter by clicking Spam (in your Inbox) or Not spam (in your Bulk folder). If a message is directed incorrectly, clicking the appropriate button. Smart filtering is turned on by default for Mail Plus users. You can turn it off by changing the settings in the Spam Protection section of the Mail Options page.
