6 1 Overview Aras Innvatr is a Web-based system fr prviding cntrl and distributin f prduct infrmatin thrughut the internal and extended enterprise and during the entire life cycle f a prduct. Aras Innvatr is mre than typical dcument management it links cnfiguratin management, wrkflw, and dynamic tracking f prduct data. By leveraging the infrastructure f the Internet, suppliers and custmers can becme mre tightly invlved within a prduct life cycle, which directly imprves prcess efficiency, speed, quality, and lwers verall cst f business. Aras Innvatr is enterprise sftware that is 100% brwser-based making it easy t use, learn, and administer. Aras Innvatr is an pen slutin based n standard Internet prtcls such as HTTP/HTTPS, SOAP, and XML making integratin with legacy applicatins straightfrward and fast. 1.1 Getting Started This dcument prvides detailed instructin fr the installatin f a new Aras Innvatr server instance. The steps detailed in this dcument are intended t allw a nvice administratr t install Aras Innvatr. Hwever, mre general knwledge f system administratin, databases, and high-level prgramming (HTML, JavaScript and ActiveX) is required t fully custmize an Aras Innvatr package with required business rules. The fllwing is the sequence f steps t fully install and ready Aras Innvatr fr custmizatin. 1) Verify System Prerequisites 2) Aras Innvatr Server/Vault Server Installatin 3) Client Setup 4) Aras Innvatr Server/Vault Server Uninstall Nte: The fllwing installatin and setup prcess assumes that the Aras Innvatr Server instance, the Web Server, the Vault Server and the Aras Innvatr Database are lcated n the same machine. Hwever, each f these cmpnents can be lcated n different machines as lng as the hst and directry paths can be reslved ver yur netwrk. Page 7

9 2.2 Obtaining an Unlimited License Key Aras Innvatr sftware requires a special license key in rder t run. The license key is unique t the server n which it will be run. In rder t btain a license key, yu must knw the MAC address f yur server. T autmatically generate a License Key visit the licensing page at Obtaining yur server MAC address The MAC Address (Physical Address) f the Aras Innvatr server is required in rder t generate a license key. The MAC address has the fllwing frmat: A-C1- E2. This machine id can be determined by running the fllwing cmmand in a Cmmand Prmpt windw: C:\>ipcnfig/all The cmmand will return the machine s cnfiguratin infrmatin, including the Physical Address (MAC address) as belw: Page 10

10 2.2.2 Requesting an Unlimited license Once yu have btained the MAC Address f yur server g t licensing page n the Aras website t autmatically generate a License Key at Alternately, cmmunity member with an active subscriptin package can send an t [email protected] r t yur accunt representative in the fllwing frmat: Subject License file needed Bdy Mac Address f the machine being installed n Versin f Innvatr Yu will receive a reply cntaining the fllwing infrmatin License Key generated Be prepared that the Aras Innvatr Setup Wizard will request this infrmatin, s have it ready. 11 2.3 Obtaining a Subscriber License Key Subscribers may request a license key that enables the use f additinal tls and features with the Aras Innvatr installatin. The license key is unique t the server n which it will be run. 13 3 Upgrading frm Previus Versins The Aras Innvatr Installer can nt be used t upgrade yur Aras Innvatr cde tree r database frm a previus versin f Aras Innvatr. The versin f the database and the versin f the cde tree must match. If yu wish t upgrade frm a previus versin f Aras Innvatr, please review the Aras Innvatr Release Ntes t see what path t take r cntact Aras at [email protected] t discuss yur upgrade ptins. Page 14

14 4 Aras Innvatr Install 4.1.Net Client Cnfiguratin The Aras Innvatr - Installatin Guide will walk yu thrugh the steps needed t install Aras Innvatr and upn cmpletin yur IT System Administratrs shuld review the Aras Innvatr -.NET Client Cnfiguratin. The Aras Innvatr -.NET Client Cnfiguratin dcument will walk yu thrugh the necessary steps t cnfigure client PC machines t run the Aras Innvatr sftware in the.net Framewrk. This dcument can be fund at r in the Dcumentatin flder f the Aras Innvatr CD image. 4.2 Installing Aras Innvatr Server The Aras Innvatr installatin file (InnvatrSetup.msi) may be btained either frm r the Aras Innvatr CD Image. Ensure that the Aras Innvatr installatin file (InnvatrSetup.msi) has been dwnladed t a lcal hard drive f the cmputer where the sftware will be installed. It is recmmended nt t delete this cpy InnvatrSetup.msi when the installatin is cmplete. 4.3 Run the file InnvatrSetup.msi Duble click n the file InnvatrSetup.msi t start the Aras Innvatr Installer Welcme page The first screen f the Installer is shwn belw. Click Next t prceed r Cancel t exit setup. Page 15

15 4.3.2 License Agreement Please read the license agreement carefully befre agreeing and prceeding with the install. This screen allws yu t print the license agreement using a rich text editr, such as Wrdpad, by selecting the Print buttn. The Next buttn will remain disabled until I accept the terms in the license agreement is selected. Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup. Page 16

16 4.3.3 Prerequisites and Dcumentatin Please ensure yu have reviewed the Aras Innvatr Installatin Guide and have all necessary cmpnents installed and cnfigured n the server. These checks are prvided as reminders f sme f the requirements fr installatin. Yu have Administratr lgin access t the IIS server Yu have administrative right n the cmputer yu are installing t, and have the IIS server installed and cnfigured. Yu have.net framewrk installed and cnfigured Either 2.0 (r higher) SQL Server is installed and yu have a lgin with admin privileges Yu have installed a MS SQL Server instance n the database server Yu must have SQL Server Authenticatin enabled Yu knw the SQL Server lgin/passwrds needed fr installatin. License Key issued frm Aras If yu have nt btained a license key at this time, please d s nw. See als Obtaining a License Key Request a license key Select the Request buttn t autmatically g t the license request page at Dwnlad Installatin Dcumentatin Select the Request buttn t autmatically g t the dcumentatin page at The Next buttn will remain disabled until all fur selectins are checked. 17 Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup Aras Innvatr Destinatin Flder This screen allws yu t pick the directry t which Innvatr will be installed. By default it is C:\Prgram Files\Aras\Innvatr but yu can click Change t select a directry f yur chice. This dcument will assume the default value. Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup. Page 18

18 4.3.5 Setup Type Specify either the Cmplete r the Custm ptin fr installatin. The Cmplete ptin will install Innvatr with all features. The Custm ptin allws the user t select nly the feature set necessary Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup. Page 19

19 4.3.6 Custm Setup If yu chse Custm Setup, yu will see this screen next. (If yu chse Cmplete, g n t the next sectin.) Chse the features f Aras Innvatr yu want installed: Innvatr Server and/r Vault Server and/r Databases. Select the services by changing the drpdwns t the left f each ptin. Nte the extra buttn n this dialg, here is what they d: Change - allws yu t specify the install directry. Help - gives help n this screen. Space - will shw disk size requirements and availability. Nte: This dcument will assume a cmplete installatin was chsen fr maximum cverage. If yu chse nly ne ptin it will represented nly by a subset f screens featured here. Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup Page 20

20 4.3.7 License Cnfiguratin License Key: A unique key btained frm If yu have nt btained a license key at this time, please d s nw. (See als Obtaining a License Key) Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup Page 21

21 4.3.8 Server Web Alias Setup Web alias - Web Alias is used t create the virtual directry fr the Innvatr Server and therefre t access Aras Innvatr. T access Aras Innvatr, yu will type a URL f the frm: Fr example, if yu were t select the default Web Alias InnvatrServer, then yu will access it as: Where <servername> is the name r IP address f the server hsting Aras Innvatr (if it is installed lcally then yu can just refer t the server as lcalhst ) It is recmmended that yu fllw standard web alias restrictins when selecting a name. If yu are unsure what this means, please restrict yurself t alphanumeric characters. It is als recmmended that the cmplete URL nt cntain underscre characters, because it can interfere with the lading f sessin ckies. Set up lcalhst fr Aras Innvatr This ptin is intended fr evaluatin purpses nly. This will reset the permissins fr the Lcal Intranet Zne f Internet Explrer, and add a.net Security Plicy fr t the installatin machine. A desktp icn will be added at the end f the installatin, giving yu instant access t the installed Aras Innvatr, with the minimum required permissins. It is nt recmmended t use this ptin when installing t a prductin server. Page 22

22 4.3.9 SMTP Setup This screen allws yu t specify the SMTP server t be used within Aras Innvatr t send s n lifecycle prmtins, wrkflw tasks, etc. The SMTP Server value is set t queue by default, referring t the IIS mail queue. If yu wish t use this default, yu must then cnfigure the IIS SMTP Server t frward s t yur SMTP Server. This can increase perfrmance f methds that cnstruct and send frm Aras Innvatr by eliminating the need fr the available cnnectin t the SMTP Server. Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup. Page 23

23 Vault Server Preferences This screen allws yu t specify the Vault Name, the Applicatin Server URL, and the lcal path fr files fr the Vault Server which is used with the Aras Innvatr Server. Vault Name - The Vault instance t be installed. All new instances f Innvatr must cntain ne vault named Default. Alternate r additinal vaults may be cnfigured separately after the initial installatin. Applicatin Server URL - since Vault Server is nt a standalne applicatin, and is useful nly alng with the Aras Innvatr Server, this field allws yu t specify the Applicatin Server URL fr the instance f Aras Innvatr yu are ging t use with this Vault Server. The Applicatin Server URL is f the fllwing frmat: Where: <servername> is the name f the server where the Innvatr Server is running. Fr example, if it is running n the lcal machine, the server is lcalhst <web_alias> is the name f the Aras Innvatr Server Virtual Directry and cnsequently the name that is used t access the Aras Innvatr Server. This is the same Web Alias that yu specified earlier in Server Web Alias Setup. A best practice is fr a standard install is Lcal Path Fr Files - the full lcal path t the directry n this machine where yu wuld like the files t be stred. This flder shuld be in a lcatin where there is sufficient disk space t accmmdate the files yu expect users t check int the system, and shuld als be in a lcatin where the files will nt be Page 24

24 deleted by prcesses ther than the Vault Server, as these files are being managed by Aras Innvatr. A best practice t select a flder with a knwn label that will nt be deleted in a lcatin with adequate disk space. The installer will default t the lcal drive with the mst available disk space and recmmend the \Aras\Vault flder. (Example: D:\Aras\Vault) Click Next t prceed with installatin. Click Back t return t the previus screen. Click Cancel t exit setup. Page 25

25 Cnfigure Database This screen allws yu setup ne r mre Aras Innvatr databases. Yu must have SQL Server Authenticatin enabled n yur Micrsft SQL Server instance t install and run Aras Innvatr. Database Server This refers t the SQL Server instance yu wish t install t. By default this is set t the first available SQL Server instance n the lcal machine, but can be set t any valid SQL Server Registratin instance. T set this value, simply key in the name f a knwn instance r select Brwse t see what SQL Server registratins the installer recgnizes as available. Cnfiguratin Optins This is the methd by which yu chse t install the Aras Innvatr database. Each ptin will be explained separately in the fllwing fur sub-sectins. Page 26

26 Create a new database This ptin is used t create a new database. This is the mst cmmn cnfiguratin fr new installatins f Aras Innvatr. DBA Lgin Optins In rder t install a database, we must first cnnect t the database server. There are tw methds f establishing a cnnectin t the database server. Windws Auhenticatin Cnnect t SQL server as the current lgged in user. SQL Server Authenticatin Cnnect as the SQL Server Administratr Lgin ID the lgin f the DBA with permissins t create new databases. Check with yur system s DBA what this parameter shuld be. Page 27

27 Passwrd the passwrd fr the lgin used t create the database. Again, check with yur system s DBA what this parameter shuld be. Yu will need t select Cnnect nce the lgin ptins have been filled ut. This will allw the installer t cnfirm cnnectin t the SQL Server instance befre prceeding. Database Lgin Optins Create a new database will als create the innvatr database user and the SQL Server lgin defined in this sectin f the Cnfigure Database screen with privileges as a database wner f the database created. The innvatr database user must be the database wner in MS SQL Server and des NOT use the SA lgin t lg int the database. (See als Database Owner Cnfiguratin) Lgin ID - This is the lgin that will be used by the innvatr database user. The installer will map this lgin t the innvatr database user after the innvatr database user is created. The installer will be creating the innvatr database user with rights as a database wner. This user will be used t create all Aras Innvatr bjects in the database. D nt use the SA lgin. Passwrd - Yu need t specify the passwrd fr the database user lgin that will be cnfigured. Database Optins The name and type f database t be installed. Database Template - Select either Innvatr Slutins r Innvatr Cre as the template t be used fr the creatin f the new database. The Innvatr Cre database cntains nly the cre data structures f Aras Innvatr. The Innvatr Slutins database includes the cre cmpnents plus additinal data elements fr the Prgram Management, Prduct Engineering and Quality Planning slutins. Database Name - Specify the name yu wish yur new Aras Innvatr SQL Server database t be called r accept the default name prvided. When all fields are cmplete, select Cnfigure Database t install the database. Page 28

28 Ppulate an existing database This ptin is used t ppulate an existing empty database with the required data and t add this data base t the Aras Innvatr cnfiguratin file t be used with this installatin f Aras Innvatr. Yu must knw the user lgin mapped t the innvatr database user t use this ptin. This ptin is used when nly the lgin assciated with the innvatr user is knwn. Database Lgin Optins This is the lgin assciated with the innvatr database user, and must be the database wner in MS SQL Server but des NOT use the SA lgin t lg int the database. (See als Database Owner Cnfiguratin) Lgin ID - This is the lgin that is used by the innvatr database user. This user will be used t create all Aras Innvatr bjects in the database. The database must be cmpliant with the versin f Aras Innvatr being installed; meaning that the data it is ppulated with must be cmpliant with the current versin f Aras Innvatr. Als, yu must knw the user lgin mapped t the innvatr database user. The difference between this ptin and Use an existing database is that the lgin will nt validate the lgin credentials against the database. This ptin is mainly prvided fr develpment purpses. Page 32

32 Database Lgin Optins This is the lgin assciated with the innvatr database user, and must be the database wner in MS SQL Server but des NOT use the SA lgin t lg int the database. (See als Database Owner Cnfiguratin) Lgin ID - This is the lgin that is used by the innvatr database user. This user will be used t create all Aras Innvatr bjects in the database. 36 5 Lgging int Aras Innvatr Aras Innvatr uses a Web Brwser as the cntainer fr its administratin and end-user interface. Please review the Aras Innvatr - Internet Explrer Client Machine Cnfiguratin dcument fr the recmmended Internet Explrer Settings. The System Administratr shuld als review the Aras Innvatr -.NET Client Cnfiguratin dcument t decide n the prper deplyment f the.net security plicies, as well. Client PC machines will nt be able t lg in until these security plicies are set. A user with administratr rights typically perfrms custmizatin f Aras Innvatr. Initial setup f Aras Innvatr will determine the admin user name lgn. By default, the user admin will have a lgn passwrd f innvatr. T lg in as administratr, 1. Start Internet Explrer 2. Pint yur web brwser at Nte: The cmplete lgin URL is determined by the Web Server virtual directry name setup. (e.g Enter the default lgin infrmatin. a. Enter the default administratr s designated username and passwrd (username admin, passwrd innvatr ). b. Select the crrect database frm the drp dwn menu. This is the database yu named in the InnvatrServerCnfig.xml 4. Click Lgin buttn Nte: Anyne will be able t lg in with administrative accesses with this default user. While this is acceptable in a develpment envirnment, it is recmmended that yu setup a new accunt fr prductin databases with administrative privileges, and disable this lgin. Page 37

37 6 Cnfigure Aras Innvatr (Optinal) Aras Innvatr uses a cnfiguratin file t manage licensing and server infrmatin that is required t successfully start, lcate and cnnect t active cmpnents in its peratin. 1) Open the InnvatrServerCnfig.xml file lcated in the rt f the install directry in a text editr. C:\Prgram Files\Aras\Innvatr 2) Edit the Client Caching behavir 3) Edit the DB Cnnectin Sectin. See belw fr details. 4) Edit the UI Tailring Sectin. See belw fr details. 6.1 Client Caching Cnfiguratin Aras Innvatr can cnfigure the behavir fr caching temprary internet files in the Internet Explrer wrker prcess running the Aras Innvatr client. Specifically, the Innvatr Server settings verride the behavir f Internet Explrer when checking t see if a page yu have previusly viewed has a newer versin. This ability is used t increase perfrmance ver wide area netwrks where latency is an issue, but can have an impact fr all end users. Internet Explrer will nly check t see if a page yu have previusly viewed has a newer versin if that page was viewed in a different sessin r the previus day. Autmatically Internet Explrer will decide when t check t see if a page yu have previusly viewed has a newer versin. Never Internet Explrer will nt check t see if a page yu have previusly viewed has a newer versin. Recmmended prductin setting. LeaveAsIs Aras Innvatr will nt change the setting used t access Aras Innvatr. The recmmended prductin setting is Never. If the IEClient tag is nt present, the default behavir f LeaveAsIs will be used. In develpment envirnments, EveryVisit r LeaveAsIs may be preferred t facilitate deplyment f changes during develpment. 38 CustmBuildVersin This is an integer value. Default is null. Every time a change is made t the static cntent n the server (html, images, etc.) yu will need t increase this value by 1. This will frce the clients t relad the Aras Innvatr client t pick up the changes the next time they lg in. As with any change t prductin, Aras strngly suggests yu ntify users t lg ut f their current sessin while deplying the change. Any changes made t the Aras Innvatr installatin directry require the fllwing steps t ensure deplyment t all users: 1) Deply the change t the installed cde tree n the server. 2) Edit the InnvatrServerCnfig.xml file fund in the rt f the cde tree. 3) Increment the CustmBuildVersin attribute by 1: <Innvatr> <UI-Tailring lgin_lg="... <IEClient RequiredSyncMde5="Never" CustmBuildVersin="2" /> <perating_parameter key="debug_lg_flag" value="false" />... 4) Restart the w3svc service(iis). 6.2 DB Cnnectin This sectin prvides the fundamental data enabling the Aras Innvatr server t cnnect t the Aras Innvatr database. These files will be stred in the file system in the \Innvatr\Server\dll flder f the installatin by default. Because the files are generated at runtime, the DLL files generated in this flder will nt list the Aras Crpratin cmpany name r the Aras Innvatr prduct name in file prperties. Further, the DLL files generated in this flder at runtime will nt have a digital signature. This service must be installed and cnfigured in rder t run Aras Innvatr reprts. Please refer t the Aras Innvatr - Micrsft Reprting Services Guide fr details n installing and cnfiguring the service. This dcument can be fund at r in the Dcumentatin flder f the Aras Innvatr CD Image. 6.6 Cnfiguring Aras Innvatr fr Single Sign-On The Aras Innvatr Single Sign-On feature prvides a mechanism fr custmers t take advantage f their existing user authenticatin scheme s that an Innvatr lgin can be prcessed withut the user entering an Innvatr specific passwrd. This new feature has been architected s that it can be easily cnfigured t adapt t an Active Directry envirnment r, if the custmer has anther user authenticatin scheme, hks have been included t integrate a nn-standard methd. Please refer t the Aras Innvatr Windws Authenticatin dcument. This dcument can be fund in the Dcumentatin flder f the CD Image and utlines cnfiguring yur Aras Innvatr installatin fr user authenticatin. Page 41

41 6.7 Cnfiguring the Aras Innvatr Service The Aras Innvatr Service is a Windws executable prgram that runs as a Windws Service. It is used t autmatically run Aras Innvatr Methds n a peridic schedule, as specified in the InnvatrServiceCnfig.xml file. A single running instance f the Aras Innvatr Service can be cnfigured t peridically cnnect t any number f Aras Innvatr Servers and fr each Aras Innvatr Server run any number f Methds. The standard Windws Event Viewer is used fr lgging f prgram status and errr messages. Please refer t the Aras Innvatr - Service Instructins dcument fr infrmatin n cnfiguring yur Aras Innvatr installatin t use this service. This dcument can be fund in the Dcumentatin flder f the CD Image. 6.8 Cnfiguring Custm Installatins When using the custm install ptin certain files must be cnfigured t allw Aras Innvatr cmpnents t wrk tgether. 1) The Aras Innvatr Server must knw where the database is installed. T vault files larger than 500 Megs yu will need t change a cnfig file in the Vaultserver. It is recmmended that.net 2.0(r higher) be used n the server if large files will be vaulted with these settings. 1) Edit the fie \VautServer\web.cnfig 2) Change the line <httpruntime maxrequestlength="500000" T <httpruntime maxrequestlength=" " Page 44

44 This value cntrls the maximum file uplad size t the vault. Setting enfrce_user_credentials t 1 leaves this feature enabled. The default behavir is t have this security enabled and is recmmended fr prductin use Cnfiguring Separate Client and Server Web Flders Aras Innvatr allws fr the ability t install tw instances f the Innvatr Server. One server will run Client and Server web aliases, while the secnd server runs the Client nly. This cnfiguratin allws distributed lading f web pages between different servers, while serving database requests thrugh ne server. There are a few things that shuld be kept in mind when running in this cnfiguratin. Changes t The cde tree must be kept in sync. Any changes t the cde tree shuld be deplyed t all cde trees, r else users may be missing files when attempting t perfrm an actin against an ut f date server. Variable paths fr cnnecting t the VaultServer are nt recmmended. T set up a distributed client server fllw the fllwing steps. 1) Cmplete the install f the full Innvatr instance n the first server, including the Innvatr Sever, Innvatr database, and vault. We ll refer t this as ServerA 2) Cmplete a full install f the full Innvatr Server tier n the secnd server. We ll refer t this as SeverB. 3) Edit the InnvatrSeverCnfig.xml n ServerB. 48 8 Trubleshting 8.1 Lgin URL returns The client is nw Client/. If yu receive a message like the ne shwn, The client is nw Client/. This indicates that all f the.net hks are nt prperly installed t IIS. T fix this issue, please select the.net framewrk frm the Add/Remve Prgrams windw, and select repair. After this is cmplete, yu will need t ensure that the ASP.NET versin is set crrectly in the Prperties f the default web site. 8.2 Client side errr lgging in t Aras Innvatr Page 49

49 If yu receive a client-side errr when attempting t lg int Aras Innvatr, it may be due t insufficient access privileges in IIS. 1) Open up IIS 2) Right click n the Innvatr virtual directry, and click n prperties. 3) Click n the directry security tab 4) Click the Edit buttn 5) Specify a user that has administrative privileges n the machine that is running IIS. Click the ptin fr Annymus access, Allw IIS t cntrl passwrd and Integrated Windws authenticatin 6) Click OK & OK 7) Restart the IIS Web service. Page 50

50 8.3 HTTP Errr File r directry nt fund. n lgin If when attempting t lgin int Aras Innvatr yu get a standard file nt fund errr, the mst cmmn cause is that ASP pages are nt allwed t run n yur server. T test this try the fllwing URL: If this page displays, it indicates that yur sftware is installed, but that ASP pages are nt allwed t run. T fix this, please fllw the fllwing steps: 1) Lg nt the server that yu have the Innvatr Server installed n. 2) Frm the Start menu select Settings Cntrl Panel 3) Open Administrative Tls 4) Open Internet Infrmatin Services (IIS) Manager 5) Expand (lcal grup) 6) Select Web Service Extensins 7) In the panel n the right, there shuld be an entry like ASP.NET v Highlight it. 8) Select the Allw buttn. 8.4 HTTP 500 Internal Server Errr n lgin If when attempting t lgin int Aras Innvatr yu get a standard IIS page nt fund cntent: i.e. the windw size is crrect, but instead f the fields fr username and passwrd, there is an errr page HTTP 500 Internal Server Errr. Additinally the fllwing warning message may be lgged in the system event lg: The server failed t lad applicatin /LM/W3SVC/1/Innvatr. The errr was General access denied errr This prblem may be caused by installing Micrsft Visual Studi v6 with SP6. The install has a bug and changes the security f the file WINNT/System32/mfc42.dll which is used t run ASP pages. The slutin wuld be t grant the IWAM_CmputerName user accunt the Read & Execute permissin fr the mfc42.dll file. 8.5 Checking the MDAC (Munting Errrs) There have been prblems seen with MDAC versin 2.7 it has been verified that with 2.6 and 2.8 the prblems are reslved. Attempt t pen the Internet Explrer and yu might see the fllwing message: XML Exceptin: Incrrect cmments tag This is a client side prblem and the rt cause f it is that the wrng versin f the XML parser is used (this culd fr example be caused by installing Visual Studi v6 with SP6, that changes the XML parser used by Innvatr). The slutin fr this is t un-install and then t re-install the XML parser. 8.8 Installing Aras Innvatr t a dedicated Micrsft Sharepint Server When installing Aras Innvatr t a machine that was previusly set up as a Micrsft Sharepint Server, certain IIS setting managed by Micrsft Sharepint can prevent Aras Innvatr frm lading. 56 9 Database Owner Cnfiguratin Aras Innvatr prvides the ptin t create, ppulate existing, r cnfigure existing databases in MS SQL Server. In rder t allw cntinued upgrading f Innvatr certain guidelines shuld be fllwed regarding the MS SQL Server users and lgins used t access the Aras Innvatr database. The innvatr user must have access t the database. This user is created as part f a standard installatin when using the create ptin. This must be cnfigured manually when an installatin uses the ppulate r cnfigure ptins. The innvatr user must have database wner privileges. The nn-system database bjects shuld be wned by the innvatr database user. 57 10 Running Installer Multiple Times 10.1 Cmplete Install the First Time Innvatr is designed t be installed, either as a whle r in cmpnents, t the same server multiple times. This means that every time the installer is run, it will be treated as a new installatin. Please be sure nt t delete yur installer frm yur hard drive when yu are dne with an installatin. Yu must reuse the same installer t run the installatin the next time Mdify, Repair, r Remve If yu are seeing the screen abve the installatin is nt being treated as a new installatin. This usually indicates that yu are trying t install the same versin f Aras Innvatr that was previusly installed. Yu shuld use the cpy f the installer that was run t install the existing versin f Aras Innvatr. If this cpy f InnvatrSetup.msi is nt available, please use the fllwing steps t enable the installer t run as new. 1. Dwnlad the installer t yur hard drive. 2. Lcate the ChangeGUID.exe file a. This can be fund in the flder where the existing Aras Innvatr instance is installed. b. This can als be fund in the Utilities flder f the Aras Innvatr CD Image. 3. Open a cmmand prmpt Page 58
