1 Logging into the P.U.R.E. Awards Website - Student This instruction set will help you get logged into the PURE Site and outlines how to: Start, Save, Edit, and Submit an Application Please note that the Awards Application Website works best with Internet Explorer 7 and up. These instructions apply to that browser. If you are experiencing any difficulties accessing the Site, please contact the IT Helpdesk: itsupport@ucalgary.ca // Phone: Step 1. Logging In Go to the URL (Website address) below: Login with Username and Password You will be prompted to enter your username and password. This is similar to the username and password required to log into the UC domain when logging into the computer or your Exchange account. IMPORTANT: Your username must be preceded by the correct domain name followed by a back slash. Be sure to now use UC\ as UC_Campus\ is no longer valid. Example username with required domain name prefix included: uc\wjones Login successful? If you are able to log in successfully, skip to Step 3. Login NOT successful? If you are not able to log in, continue to Step 2. Page 1 of 7

Website works best with Internet Explorer 7 and up. These instructions apply to that browser.

2 Step 2. Enabling Your Windows Login Most users will have already enabled their Windows Login when they first received their UC Admin account, however if this step was missed you will not be able to access your SharePoint Site. Follow the instructions below to enable your Windows Login Enable Windows Login All clients require an enabled Windows Login to access SharePoint resources. If you haven't already done this (it's only required to do once), follow these easy steps: Go to: Select Enable Windows Login under "IT Computing Account Management. This will take you to the "Please login to Enable Windows Logon" (not shown). Enter your IT Username and Password and click Go. In the "Enable Windows Logon" screen (left) enter your IT Username Password in the field provided then click Enable Windows Logon. "Windows login successfully entered" should now appear under that link and you can return to the SharePoint Website to login. Page 2 of 7

3 Step 3. Accessing the Site Go back to the URL (Website address) below, if you are not already there: Access Denied If you get this screen it tells you that you have successfully logged in. Now you just need to be granted access to the Site. Click: Request access Request Access To request access you will see this screen. Send Request Fill in the field as suggested here. Click Send Request Note: While access is usually granted within 2 hours, you can expect it no later than 1 business day and you'll be notified by to your UCalgary address. Page 3 of 7

4 Initial Screen Logging in brings you to the home screen. Starting an Application New/Incomplete Applications To start a new application - or go back to an incomplete one - under "My New/Incomplete Applications" on the welcome screen, click Add new item. Tip: Feel free to print off the entire form in order to plan your application in advance of completing the form. Place the mouse anywhere on the form, right-click and select Print in the pop-up drop-down window. Page 4 of 7

5 Completing the Form Important!: It's best to complete all fields and the red asterisk indicates a mandatory field. If the mandatory fields are not filled in you will not be able to save a draft copy. Also: If you don't know your GPA, enter any grade - it can be corrected later. Form Tools The "People Picker" This tool works best with Internet Explorer, Version 7 and up. It does not always work with Firefox or Safari. Start by clicking the Address Book icon on the right. This opens the Webpage Dialog window. Note: Searching for your supervisor by last name is the best method. Type in his/her last name in the Find field and then click on the Magnifying Glass icon on the right. Page 5 of 7

Form Tools The "People Picker" This tool works best with Internet Explorer, Version 7 and up. It does not always work with Firefox or Safari.

6 Important!: If your supervisor displays more than once, select the name based on the following criteria: 1. Account Name must start with UC\ or UC_Admin\ 2. There must be an address associated with the Account Name Click OK at the bottom of the open window The People Picker field should now display your supervisor s name. Important: If the People Picker does not work for you, please feel free to move on in the application, as the next field allows you to type in your supervisor's name. Evidence of GPA You can add a copy of your Transcript by attaching a document. Go to the top of the application and click on Attach File and follow the instructions. Once you've selected the file, it will append itself to the bottom of your application. Page 6 of 7

Important: If the People Picker does not work for you, please feel free to move on in the application, as the next field allows you to type in your supervisor's name.

7 Saving/Editing/Submitting an Application Saving/Editing At any time, as long as you have completed the mandatory fields, you can click OK to save your application. You can come back to it if you need to edit or modify it. Your application displays on the home screen as: My New/Incomplete Applications. (Partial view shown here.) If you wish to go back and edit/complete your application, click on the Edit icon and the application will re-open for you to complete. Submitting your Completed Application If you feel your application is ready for submission to your supervisor for his/her reference, you must tick both the Student Acknowledgement and the Application Complete for Submission boxes. Note 1: Failure to click one or the other will keep your application in the "My New/Incomplete Applications" window. Note 2: Once your application form is completed, it's a good idea to print a copy for yourself, as you will not be able to review it once it is submitted. Application Complete for Submission Once you click OK on your completed application form, it will display in the "My Submitted Applications" window (Partial view shown here.) From there, you will be able to see if your supervisor has completed his/her reference. Done. Page 7 of 7
