2 Mike Tamasi Chairman of the Board AccuRounds Avon, Massachusetts Michael Tamasi is President and CEO of AccuRounds, an advanced manufacturer dedicated to being the leading value solution for contract precision machined components and assemblies used in numerous industries including medical, defense, semi-conductor, aerospace and oil/gas. Michael, a second-generation owner, has been working in the family business since Michael is very active in several industry and educational organizations including the National Tooling and Machining Association as Audit Team Leader/Member, and served on their Boston Chapter s board for fifteen years. He is also a NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) Audit Team Leader, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the GBMP. In January of 2010, he was appointed the Massachusetts STEM Advisory Council. He co-chaired the Public Awareness subcommittee for three years, and currently co-chairs the Workforce Training subcommittee. Michael joined the Executive Committee for the MA Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative in January of 2012, serving as co-chair of the promoting manufacturing working group. In 2014, he was selected to serve on the New England Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Michael is the Chairman of Business Leaders United, a group led by several non-profits including the National Skills Coalition. He currently sits on the advisory board for the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of New Hampshire, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. He also received a Master s degree in business administration from Babson College. AccuRounds employs 75 people and is located in Avon, Massachusetts. AccuRounds was recognized for their accomplishments in lean manufacturing with the presentation of the Northeast Shingo Prize Silver Medal in 2006, the first contract metalworking company in North America to win this award.

Dickson MD, MHCM, FACEP UMass Memorial Healthcare Worcester, Massachusetts Dr Dickson is President and CEO of UMass Memorial Health Care, a four hospital healthcare system located in central Massachusetts with over 900 acute care beds and 1100 employed physicians, he also serves as a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Prior to being named CEO Dr Dickson served as President and Senior Associate Dean of UMass Memorial Medical Group, Professor and Head of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and Interim Chief Operating Officer for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr Dickson completed his medical degree and residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and has a Masters Degree in Health Care Management from Harvard University. Dr Dickson has served as a member of the Baldrige National Quality Award Board of Examiners, lectures nationally on the use of the Toyota Production System in healthcare and is an active faculty member for the Institute of Healthcare Improvement, where he works with health systems around the world to reduce healthcare costs while improving quality.

Currently the VP of Operations for Consolidated Sterilizer Systems in Allston, MA, he has been leading lean/continuous improvement activities since Previously Steve has been Senior VP of Design and Operations for Deck House & Acorn (designer and manufacturer of high-end custom contemporary homes), VP of Operations and General Manager of Wakefield Engineering (thermal management solutions for the international electronics industry) and a Senior Manager at Andersen Consulting in the manufacturing productivity improvement practice. Steve graduated from Cornell in 1980 with a BSME and from Vanderbilt in 1983 with an MBA.
5 Gerald V. Pisani Stoneridge, Inc. (Retired) Duxbury, Massachusetts In 2006 Jerry Pisani retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of Stoneridge, Inc., a NYSE Corporation. Stoneridge is a leading global designer and manufacturer of highly engineered electrical and electronic products and systems. Jerry held various management positions during his 20 year career with Stoneridge including COO, Group Vice-President and Division General Manager. He was the architect of their growth strategies which included product development, technology transfers, acquisitions and joint ventures. He initiated the Stoneridge Lean-Six Sigma Program which became the foundation of the company s operational excellence strategy as well as a global supply chain management program. Prior to joining Stoneridge, Jerry held management positions with Allied Signal and General Electric. He currently serves as a Director of the GBMP, as well as AccuRounds Inc., and Gammer Group International where he is a Senior Associate in their M&A practice. He holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from Clarkson University and an MBA from Syracuse University.
6 Peter A. Hunter Artemis Capital Partners Burlington, Massachusetts Peter A. Hunter is the Managing Partner of Artemis Capital Partners, a Boston based private equity firm focused on investing in Industrial Technology manufacturing companies. Peter is a successful executive with over 30 years of business experience. Prior to founding Artemis, Peter was a co-founder and Managing Partner of Axia Capital Partners. Peter has an continues to represent both Artemis and Axia on the boards of Janis Research, LLC, KCB Solutions, LLC, Ohio Tool Works, LLC, Innovative Pressure Technologies, LLC, Hydroid, LLC, and Fiberoptic Components, LLC. Peter also sits on several non-profit boards including GBMP, ESC New England and the Stone Family Adoption Assistance Fund. Prior to forming Axia, Peter was CEO of Innovative Microplate, Inc., where he grew the firm s revenue by 100% and led the sale of the company. Previously, he was the CEO and director of Inspectron Corporation, a machine vision hardware and software company focused on the factory automation market. Under his leadership, the company grew over 400% in less than three years and was ultimately sold to a strategic buyer in Previously, Peter was Executive VP, COO & CFO for Data Instruments, Inc., a manufacturer of industrial sensors and factory automation equipment. During his twelve years at Data Instruments, he initiated and completed seven acquisitions that provided significant growth to the company (revenues of $70 million) and ultimately led to the sale of the company to Honeywell International in Prior to joining Data Instruments, Peter was a CPA for Deloitte & Touche. An attorney and CPA, he received his JD in corporate law and BS in Accounting at Suffolk University.
7 Philip L. Quaglieri University of Massachusetts Boston Dorchester, Massachusetts Philip L. Quaglieri served as the Dean of the College of Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston until June Prior to his appointment as Dean, he served the University in other administrative posts including Associate Provost, Assistant Chancellor and Director of The Learning Center, and Acting Chairperson of the Management Department. Dean Quaglieri was a member of the faculty at the University of New Brunswick and Northern Illinois University, and he also worked in the financial services industry. He earned a PhD and MS degrees from the Department of Management Sciences at Stevens Institute of Technology and a BS in mathematical economics (in cursu honorum) from Saint Peter s College. The College of Management is Boston s public business school, serving 2,000 undergraduate and 600 graduate students. 8 Steven J. Spear MIT Sloan School of Management Cambridge, Massachusetts Steven J. Spear is a Senior Lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management and in MIT's Engineering Systems Division, and he is a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. He has won numerous awards including the Philip Crosby Medal, for his book The High Velocity Edge, from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) in 2011, a McKinsey Award for his article "Fixing Healthcare from the Inside, Today," from Harvard Business Review, and numerous Shingo Prizes for Research Excellence. Spear has demonstrated in theory and practice his expertise about leadership, innovation, and operational excellence, and he is an authority on how select companies in high tech and heavy industry, design and production, manufacturing and services generate unmatchable performance by converting improvement and innovation from the rare kiss of inspiration to repeatable, broad-based, skill-based disciplines. Spear s Decoding the DNA of the Toyota Production System and Learning to Lead at Toyota, are part of the lean manufacturing canon. His Fixing Healthcare from the Inside, Today and articles in Annals of Internal Medicine, Health Services Research, Joint Commission Journal on Quality and Patient Safety, and Academic Medicine (1) (2) have been on the forefront in health care improvement. He has contributed to the Boston Globe and New York Times, and has appeared on Bloomberg TV and radio, CBS, and elsewhere. At MIT, Spear teaches in the Leaders for Global Operations program and in Sloan School executive education custom programs and the open enrollment course, "Creating High Velocity Organizations," which is based on his research. He has guest lectured at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard Medical School, Ohio State University, and elsewhere. Consulting clients have included wellknown organizations like Intel, Lockheed Martin, Intuit, Novelis, Alcoa, the US Army, and United Technologies, and he has worked with hospitals such as Massachusetts General, Brigham Womens, and Memorial Sloan Kettering.At Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he is on a patient safety advisory board and was recently named to an advisory panel on systems engineering at University of Texas. He is also a board member for the not-for-profit GBMP, Inc and for the medical IT company Acesco. He is founder of a business process software company, "See to Solve." Among other accomplishments, Spear helped the Pittsburgh Regional Healthcare Initiative create its 'Perfecting Patient Care System.' That has been credited with eliminating horrible complications like central line infections and thereby improving care quality while reducing cost. The Alcoa Business System, which he helped design and launch, is regularly credited with hundreds of millions of dollars in annual savings. Other clients have dramatically compressed time and cost for marketing processes, new product development and software design. Pratt and Whitney's "Engineering Standard Work," for instance, which is credited for considerable time and cost compression in jet engine design, is based on Spear's work too. Spear also helped lead the development and deployment of senior leadership training for the Bluegrass Automotive Manufacturing Association ("BAMA"--Toyota's North American supplier network.)
9 Bob Bishop Bishop Innovations Middleboro, Massachusetts Bob Bishop is a consultant and entrepreneur who supports start-ups, turnarounds, and ongoing entities. A Lean expert and Shingo Award winner, he serves on the Trustee Quality Committee of Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital as well as the GBMP Board of Directors. In addition to his consulting activities, Bob is the founder of Bishop Innovations, a firm specializing in the development, production, and marketing of new products. Bob earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at MIT and his MBA at Northeastern University. He has held top corporate management roles, most recently as Vice President of Operations and R&D at Brookfield Engineering. Prior roles included all aspects of technology and product development, manufacturing, quality, and business development. He began his professional career at Texas Instruments developing high volume automotive sensors and later joined Brookfield Engineering Laboratories, the worldwide leader in viscosity measuring equipment. At Brookfield he led a lean manufacturing / continuous improvement effort that resulted in the company achieving a Northeast Shingo Prize Gold Award. He holds thirteen U.S. Patents.
10 Donald Walsh Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corp. Boston, Massachusetts Don holds degrees from Holy Cross College (AB), Northeastern University (MA, Sociology) and Harvard Business School (MBA). Don retired from NSTAR where he was the Director of Community Relations and Economic Development. He was responsible for NSTAR s relations with the 108 municipalities in its service territory as well as developing partnerships to strengthen the economy in Massachusetts. Don represented NSTAR on several business organizations, including Mass MEP and AIM. He was an officer of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and the founder of MassEcon (the state s real estate industrial site-finder service and the leading non-governmental, state-wide economic development organization). He also founded the Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, a non-profit that has developed 1,200 units of low income housing bringing over $330m of investment to Dorchester.
11 Helen Zak ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value Boston, Massachusetts Helen Zak serves as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value, a not for profit educational institute with a mission to create a healthcare marketplace that rewards providers for delivering value. Helen has 30 years of lean leadership experience in a wide range of industries, including automotive, capital equipment and high tech. Formerly, COO of Lean Enterprise Institute for 11 years, Helen worked with Jim Womack to spread the topic of lean throughout the world and to every industry. Helen has contributed to 16 published works on the topic of lean as well as numerous educational programs and is a frequent speaker on the topic. Helen helped to establish the Lean Education Academic Network, The Lean Global Network and the Healthcare Value Network. Helen is on the Shingo Institute Advisory Committee, New England VERC Advisory Board, Greater Boston Manufacturing Partnership Board of Directors and a Steering Committee Member of the Lean Education Academic Network. In addition, Helen is faculty for the Institute of Healthcare Improvement and faculty and coach for the Master of Business of Operational Excellence Program at Fisher College of Business at Ohio State. Helen received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University and a MS in Operations Management and MS in Manufacturing Management from Kettering University.
12 Bret Watson Jøtul North America Gorham, Maine As President/CEO of Jøtul North America, Bret has led a lean transformation that began in 2001 and continues today, utilizing a sustainable continuous improvement culture. Under Bret s leadership, Jøtul has grown from 13 employees as a distributor to manufacturing assembly of sheet metal fabrication with 80 employees. All products sold in North American market are developed in Gorham, ME headquarters for North American hearth products market. Jøtul has been a finalist or winner in the Best Companies to Work in Maine in 2006, 2008 and 2010 and won the 2009 Governor s Award for Business Excellence in the state of Maine. Bret received a BS degree in Economics/Psychology Magna Cum Laude from St. Lawrence University and a MBA from the University of Vermont.
