2 About FLI: Harvard FLI is a conference for high school students, aspiring to be leaders in their current roles or in their future college and career endeavors. With inspiring keynote speakers and through interactive workshops ranging from areas of technology to business to medicine to politics, students will gain an insight of what leadership in each field entails. Our mission is to inspire and empower high school students with valuable leadership skills and knowledge. Students will leave the conference with a broader knowledge of different career paths they can pursue, of different leadership styles in the respective fields, and a better understanding of their own personal leadership skills. 3 C ONFERENC E DETAILS 2014 Keynote Speakers: Lindsay Hyde Harvard Business School Lindsay is the founder and CEO of The BarkStop, an early stage start-up that allows people to bring their dogs to work with them by providing on-site dog daycare. In May, Lindsay graduated with her MBA from the Harvard Business School. Prior to returning to graduate school, Lindsay served as Founder and President of Strong Women, Strong Girls, a national not for profit organization that provides mentors to girls in grades 3-5. In addition to her work as an entrepreneur, Lindsay volunteers as a Board Member with Invest in Girls, the Harvard Alumni Association, and the Coca-Cola Scholars foundation. She is a 2004 graduate of Harvard College, where she concentrated in Sociology and Women s Studies. Syon Bhanot Harvard Kennedy School Syon is a Ph.D. student at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS), where he studies behavioral and public economics. He is a 2006 graduate of Princeton University and completed a Masters in Public Policy at HKS in He is three-time winner of the HKS Dean s Award for Excellence in Student Teaching, and has also taught at Harvard College, Brown University, and Northeastern University.

4 Interactive Workshops led by Harvard University Students Founded in 2006 by Harvard undergraduates, the Harvard College Consulting Group has since grown to become one of the largest students groups on campus. Over the past decade, it has provided consulting services for businesses and non-profit organizations in the Boston area and beyond. HCCG is a student-run, not-for-profit organization devoted to improving businesses both at home and abroad. Our clients include Fortune 500 companies, startups, and prominent non-profits. Harvard University Engineers Without Borders is affiliated with Engineers Without Borders - USA, a non-profit humanitarian organization established to partner with developing communities around the world in order to improve their quality of life. HUEWB seeks to promote a global consciousness by working on environmentally sound and economically sustainable engineering projects. HUEWB is dedicated to the EWB mission: Building A Better World, One Community At A Time. Harvard Ventures (HCVP) is the largest entrepreneurship group on campus and provides students with the resources, skills, and community to maximize their chances of successfully launching ventures. Founded in 2011, Harvard Ventures facilitates a wide array of activities on campus, including founder coffee chats, skill workshops, panel discussions, pitch competitions, and social events. Harvard s Institute of Politics (IOP) was established in 1966 as a memorial to President Kennedy and aims to inspire undergraduates to consider careers in politics and public service. The Institute oversees the John F. Kennedy Jr. Forum, one of the world s premier arenas for political speech, discussion, and debate, and runs a fellowship program offering a unique opportunity for political practitioners to spend semesters at Harvard and interact with students.
