The course also covers use of an AED (automated external defibrillator) as an important part of the CPR sequence for adults and children. Students learn how to relieve choking in a responsive or unresponsive adult or child and how to use a barrier device to prevent contamination during rescue breathing. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certification card valid for two years. EDU 502B Enhancing Classroom Instruction in Urban Schools *NEW* This course is designed to give aspiring and current school leaders practical strategies that can be used to implement and/or maintain high-quality instruction within urban school settings (especially those schools that are struggling and have a history of failure). The tenets of this course will focus on key areas of instructional leadership that will allow urban school leaders to move past barriers that adversely affect the teaching and learning process. They will also be able to implement effective changes that will help improve a school s overall academic performance. Session 6 EDU 517C Introduction to Inclusive Education *NEW* This course provides an overview of inclusive education research and best practices in inclusive classrooms. The course is geared toward teachers, administrators, and parents interested in learning more about inclusive education. In this course, participants examine research on inclusive education and outcomes for students with and without disabilities, legal aspects of inclusive education, schoolwide inclusive practices, and strategies for increasing access to general education curriculum and contexts for students with disabilities.
