1 2016 AAMC Conference: 15: Moving Forward As the organization celebrates its 15th Anniversary, we are honored to hold our Conference 15: Moving Forward in Houston, Texas, May 7 10, 2016, and welcome Keynote Speaker Darren Walker, President, Ford Foundation. The Conference sessions and events will be held at several Houston area cultural institutions, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH); Asia Society Texas Center; The Menil Collection; and Project Row Houses. Additional site visits during the four days of activities include Contemporary Arts Museum Houston; University Museum at Texas Southern University; Blaffer Art Museum, University of Houston; DiverseWorks; Rice University Art Gallery; and Rienzi and Bayou Bend Collections and Gardens, both part of MFAH. As AAMC President, I am delighted that the Conference & Meeting will visit so many of the sites that are part of Houston s innovative art scene, noted Helen C. Evans, Mary & Michael Jarharis Curator of Byzantine Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and AAMC & AAMC Foundation President, It is especially appropriate that we will gather at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, as its director Gary Tinterow was the first president of AAMC and most instrumental in establishing our organization. Do join us in Houston and congratulate Gary on his museum and all that we have become, and will be. We are pleased to announce new activities at this year s events, including lunchtime Roundtable discussions and a formal reception honoring the Awards of Excellence recipients. The Conference panels will focus on issues related to diversity, audience engagement, the medium of cinema and video, exhibiting controversy, and donor relations.
