1 Software Development Associate Circa 21k pro-rata Full time, 12 months fixed term contract The Role: Your task will be to take ownership of this challenging and demanding project, working with academic supervision at Unecom IT Limited premises. The aim is to embed a software development capability into the company for future expansion into wider markets. The Key Aims: To lead and drive the project forward Perform research into relevant software technologies and techniques Develop a software system Testing of the software system Produce relevant documentation Training of users Candidate Profile: You will have: A relevant degree (min. 2:1) Experience of software development PhP, MySQL, Zend2 Experience of system security Excellent communication skills Self starter and motivated The Project in context: The project exists to transfer knowledge between all three partners: University, Company and Associate. 2 JOB DESCRIPTION Software Development Associate KEY INFORMATION Faculty/Cost Centre: Technology Location: Unecom IT Ltd., 25 Uppingham Road, Houghton on the Hill, Leics LE7 9HJ Department/School: School of Computing Responsible To: Senior Lecturer Grade: N/A Responsible for: N/A Role Profile Ref.: N/A Contract Type: Full Time, 12 Months Fixed Term Date of Issue: October 2012 OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Through the creation of a web-based accreditation system, a software development capability will be embedded, enabling future product development and access to a wider market. JOB CONTEXT Unecom IT Ltd. is seeking a recent graduate in collaboration with De Montfort University through the Partners in Knowledge Transfer Scheme (PiKT). JOB FACTS AND FIGURES The post will be based at Unecom IT Ltd., Houghton on the Hill, Leics. The post holder will work closely with Unecom staff as well as researchers from the Faculty of Technology at De Montfort University. As part of the PiKT package you will receive substantial Training. A Personal Development budget of 2,000 is available and the opportunity exists to register for a funded higher degree where appropriate. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Produce a Software specification document which is based on research. 2. Develop the new software system based on the signed off software specification. The system will incorporate a simple Quality assurance system, and the software will be fully revision controlled. 3. The client whom this software is designed for will require a proprietary QA system. The design of this system is already in place. The QA process will need to be implemented within the system as a pluggable option, replacing the "simple" qa system earlier developed. 4. Carry out a full system review to include providing a presentation of the system to project members. 5. Carry out comprehensive whitebox testing which will include analysis of vulnerabilities and bug fixes, producing documentation and updated software specifications. 6. Provide training for both the customer and internal staff. 7. Provide Full system documentation including installation and customisation guides.
