2 EVENT & LOCATION Bulladora is an outdoor festival in the heart of Dallas that celebrates music, art, innovation and adventure. Boutique in nature, we are an event that focuses on the details and seeks the highest quality of everything we do. From an intriguing environment to sense-stimulating entertainment, our mission is to craft a truly special experience for the community and establish a premiere destination festival in Dallas. As the first event of its kind in Dallas, we aim to propel the thriving cultural scene by bringing in global touring musicians, while also partnering with the creatives and businesses that make this city great. Our location in Reverchon Park is a unique setting that provides a wealth of opportunities for artistic installations. A huge part of Bulladora involves working with local artists to create pieces for display before, during, and after the festival. PROJECT INTENT Bulladora Music Experience is founded on two basic principles: progressive thinking and having as much fun as humanly possible. As such, we re looking for provocative, experimental, eccentric, and lighthearted works of art that stir curiosity and wonder. Bulladora has a unique back story that involves a quirky little creature we call the Pugasus. You re welcome to reference the Tale of the Pugasus and use her as an inspirational muse. Pieces in a variety of media and forms are encouraged, but must take into consideration the high amount of pedestrian traffic and weather. We will do as much as possible to protect your pieces, but with the scale of this event Bulladora assumes no responsibility for the damage of any artwork. Please refer to page 4 for a detailed list of our desired projects. ELIGIBILITY Entries from all levels of experience are accepted and selection is based on artistic excellence. You may apply for as many different projects as you wish. Both existing pieces and new concepts are welcome. Artist teams are eligible to apply, including teams of artists from multiple disciplines. Must be willing to provide transportation and installation of artwork. PAGE 2

3 TIMELINE Application deadline: April 4, Installation dates: May 31 - June 2, PUBLICITY & PERKS We want to provide as much hype about our artists as possible. The Art section of our website and app will include a page for each artist that highlights a slideshow of images, biography, and social / website links. There will be press releases, an newsletter, and blog posts focused on the art portion of the festival. Each artist will also receive a social media pre-event post on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Documentation of your artistic process is encouraged and may result in additional blog posts and social activity. Pieces displayed at the festival will be documented and posted online after the event. Plus, all accepted artists will receive 2 free weekend passes! BUDGET For custom pieces created for Bulladora, please provide an estimate for your project that includes all related costs: design fee, materials, fabrication, transportation & installation, etc. This number can be refined and will be finalized upon acceptance. HOW TO APPLY 1. Submit one application per project entry. (see page 7) 2. Provide necessary visual support in the form of drawings, renderings or photographs. Please submit no more than 5 visuals in the form of 300 dpi jpegs. 3. Optional: The artist may include a resume and up to three selections of support materials such as reviews, news articles, and other related information. 4. Submit the above materials packaged in one compressed folder by end of day April 4, 2016 to kristin@bulladora.com. Large files may be transmitted via Dropbox. 4 PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS All of the following descriptions and example photographs are merely to provide a general idea of what we are looking for. Your individual interpretation of these categories is strongly encouraged. Modular Seating A system of seating that can be rearranged, combined or function independently Interactive Lounging An area for people to lounge, climb, swing, spin... Contextual Installations Encorporating the natural surroundings PAGE 4

5 Light or Projection Installation To be installed underneath a bridge at the park entrance that everyone must walk through Scultpure Use of found / recycled objects encouraged but not required Sidewalk Chalk Art Promotional Series A series of chalk renderings in different locations for promotion leading up to the festival Foreign Environment Throw people into unexpected surroundings and sensory overload PAGE 5

6 Gallery en plein air Submit a painting to be hung as a group exhibition in outdoor surroundings, for a twist on traditional galleries. Social Experiment Conduct and document a project live at the festival that explores how people think, interact, react, etc. This will be published and publicized after the event. Live Art Create a piece live in front of Bulladora attendees. The sky is the limit with this one. PAGE 6
