2 About AVAPM Welcome! AVAPM is a special interest group of the Australian Veterinary Association and is dedicated to improving the standard of veterinary practice management throughout the country. AVAPM works to provide business owners and managers with essential professional development opportunities and the necessary tools needed to help drive business growth and success. Members of the association come from all over Australia from rural, suburban and metropolitan locations. AVAPM members also have experience in diverse areas including companion, mixed and large animal practices. AVAPM provides a range of continuing professional development opportunities all year round from webinars to tours to workshops. Each year, AVAPM also presents its own stream at the AVA national conference and, in addition, AVAPM holds an annual conference (featuring international speakers) making both events key features of AVAPM s professional development program. 4 Our key events AVAPM s professional development program consists of various events held throughout the year to benefit practice owners and managers. Annual conference If you are serious about Practice Management, then we look forward to seeing you at our annual conference in Sydney in July. Featuring international speakers and the cream of local presenters, this year s theme Bridging the Gap looks at increasing revenue, staff performance, communication, marketing strategies and more. Our Monday Masterclasses give you an opportunity to work directly with our international speakers. 1 day workshops We can all agree the world is changing; while the clinical side of veterinary medicine has changed relatively little, the way veterinary medicine is delivered and received has changed a lot. To keep up, we need to look at new ways to provide care and service. Modern day successes highlight a new veterinary business model which we will discuss during these workshops. Focus on Client + Practice Management + Creative Pricing ideas Insights tours Take a behind-the-scenes look at some of the leading veterinary practices in Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Selected veterinary clinics give you an all access pass and open up their business to enable you to gain valuable insight into the way they operate. 6 Hill s & AVAPM Practices of Excellence For more than a decade, the Hill s AVAPM Practices of Excellence Awards have recognised veterinary practices that provide outstanding service to their clients. The awards acknowledge excellence and encourage veterinary practices Australia-wide to improve their overall practice management. Today, the awards are the most well-known and prestigious among veterinary businesses. All entrants in the Hill s Practices of Excellence Awards receive a free practice health check to help identify opportunities to grow and expand. Practices receive advice designed to deliver opportunities to achieve effective competitive advantages in key aspects including customer service, staff management, leadership and marketing.
