Synopsis This course provides an insight on managing quality and how to establish a quality management system in warehouse and logistics operations. Introductory topics to be delivered are: drafting Quality Policy, Quality Objectives and SOPs, setting up quality documentations and quality records, and introducing Quality Control problem solving tools that are essential in executing daily work tasks so as to improve work productivity and efficiency and personal competencies. Notice: What will be covered in the workshop? This course serves as a mind-opener on the importance of inculcating built-in quality in one s works and doing the right things right from the beginning; specifically Plan Do Check Act principles. The scope of the course encompasses basic principles of total quality management, quality management system and basic applications of quality control tools to identify ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE Certificate of Attendance

2 operational problems, to make the right decisions and to take effective remedial actions in the warehouse and logistics operations. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, the participants should be able to: - Demonstrate the acquired practical knowledge on managing quality issues in warehouse and logistci operations. - Apply and use quality control tools to identify, solve problems and make correct decisions to improve work productivity and service quality, and to minimise waste and losses at the workplace in the warehouse, logistics and business operations in the organization. - Demonstrate high personal values and integrity and work competenices at the workplace. Speaker s Biodata Dr. Sariwati Mohd. Shariff, an associate professor has served the Faculty of Business Management, Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam for thirteen years from She teaches both degree and postgraduate courses on Occupational Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Project and Quality Management, and Operations Management as well as being the resource person for these courses. Having a degree in electrical engineering, masters in technology management and certificate as registered OSH Officer from NIOSH (2008), she had

3 twenty years of manufacturing experiences in the semiconductor and audio industry for MOTOROLA in Sungai Way and AIWA ELECTRONICS in Johor from as Senior Quality and Final Test Engineer. As an academic staff, she had published several academic books on the taught courses, conference proceedings and journals on her areas, and supervises several postgraduate students in applied business research (ABR) and doctoral program. She is also involved as panel examiners for ABR, Master and Matriculation programs with the Faculty, MITRANS and Ministry of Education. Her doctoral study with Universiti PUTRA Malaysia focused on industrial training on undergraduates in the manufacturing industry. Currently, she is the Head of Postgraduate Studies in Malaysia Institute of Transport (MITRANS), which is a research centre in transport and logistics in UiTM Shah Alam from 2012 till present.
