1 Strengthening governance worldwide Internal and risk management Adding value BRITISH ACCREDITATION COUNCIL ACCREDITED SHORT COURSE PROVIDER ACCREDITED SHORT COURSE PROVIDER One-week workshop 7 to 11 March 2016 PAI is accredited by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education
2 About the workshop Around the world pressure on public sector organisations to deliver more at less cost continues. In order to demonstrate progress, organisations need to define their performance objectives and measure performance against them. Inevitably this means that politicians and senior managers need assurance that systems and processes are in place to deliver economically, efficiently and effectively the performance objectives the organisation must achieve. This workshop shows how risk management and internal can add real value in ensuring that these systems and processes support the achievement of objectives. It sets out current good practice in both these areas and gives an excellent opportunity for you to visit a selection of public sector bodies and talk to practitioners. Case studies add a further practical element to the workshop. Who is it for? The workshop will be especially beneficial for: Senior managers responsible for governance issues such as internal or risk management. The workshop provides guidance on good practice developments which can be introduced Heads of internal and their senior managers. The workshop will familiarise you with current good practice developments, and more detail and insight about the risk management processes through which they will provide assurance to senior management. How you will benefit The workshop is designed to allow you to: Explain internal and risk management in the context of your organisation Share experience of good practice developments and practical lessons learned from their implementation in both UK and other countries Share your own experiences of managing and implementing risk management and internal Enable you to explore how these developments may be introduced and/ or implemented in your own jurisdiction. The exposure to the real public sector was so wonderful and worthwhile. I have added several building blocks to my Internal Audit skills. David Dlamini Senior Internal Auditor Swaziland Government

It aims to be highly interactive and you are encouraged to: share your own experiences; debate the potential added value to your own situation from applying some of the features of models used in the UK; and consider skills and resources required to develop a framework for risk management and internal. Workshop notes, presentations and a range of different materials will be provided on a USB key for future reference and follow up.
