2 The Holiday season is generally a great time of the year for online retailers; customers are purchasing more and new visitors are acquired. The last week of December and the beginning of January however often see online sales dip dramatically. To help you make the most of the January sales period we here at Nosto have put together 8 dynamite tips - from leveraging holiday shoppers to rewarding your loyal customers - that will ensure you kick start 2015 with a bang 1 You Announce Your Sales with Personalized Content won t be the only retailer offering great deals during the post-holiday sales season, but creating a buzz before your sales actually begin is a great way of capturing your customers attention and enticing them to your store for their post-holiday shopping. Send out an campaign with a sneak preview of your best post-holiday deals, but don t just send out the same generic to everyone. By personalizing the , adding recommendations reminding each customer what they ve previously been browsing in your store or what they ve previously added to their shopping cart but not yet purchased, is a great way of ensuring that every customer is targeted individually. Sending out a personalized will help you get through the noise and capture your customer s attention immediately!

3 2 3 4 Give out Coupons for January Purchases To stay on top of competition, why not extend holiday shoppers a discount coupon that can be used in January when completing a purchase in December? Not only does this incentivize purchase during the holidays, but also makes customers come back to shop with you after Santa is gone. Keeping the coupon validity period short, you ll also add a sense of urgency to the offer. Don t stop Believing... hold on to those marketing campaigns! Late Q4 and early Q1 in ecommerce is not only about people buying gifts, it s also about people returning, exchanging and using their gift cards. The majority of online shoppers are browsing online after the holidays to cash in on gift certificates or get replacements for gifts that just didn t hit home. By keeping your social media, PPC and other marketing campaigns alive, you re more likely to capture these shoppers attention and get them to shop in your store. Go Big by Cleaning Up Your Stock After the holidays people will be looking for the best deals online and will keep browsing until they find them. This is great for you, as offering big discounts does not have to be expensive or difficult! Clearing your stock of out of season products allows you to offer big discounts cheaply on products that would otherwise be left taking up your storage space. To make sure your customers notice these discounts, add a top list with the hottest deals on your front page. Deal seekers will immediately find what they re looking for, browse further in your store and realise there s no need to check out your competitor s site!

4 5 Reactivate Holiday Shoppers through Triggered ing There are several effective ways to retarget your holiday shoppers - and customers who ve shopped with you before the holidays - using triggered s. By sending out a We Miss You or an Order Follow-up to customers who completed purchases in your store during the holiday season, you can not only entice customers back to your store and start them on the road to becoming truly loyal customers, but also delight them by suggesting e.g. a new product in a line of products previously purchased or offering a sneak peek to your spring collection. Win-win! 6 Send Price Drop s You know an item has been of interest to a customers when its been added to their cart. Unfortunately abandoned cart rates are generally on the higher side of 70%.
