Advancing Teacher Excellence The Foundation has made a top priority of investing in teachers through the Jean G. Gumerson Endowment for the Pursuit of Teaching Excellence. Teachers can receive a $2,500 scholarship to pursue National Board Certification, and NBCTs can receive a $1,150 scholarship to renew their certificate. Competitive Edge The Competitive Edge program has made it possible for thousands of students to participate in artistic and academic competitions. Grants pay for fees, transportation, meals and lodging. Students gain a sense of purpose that builds their confidence, validates their talents and sets them on a track to life long success through these competitions. 175 grants awarded; $242,916 distributed. Great Idea Grants Great Idea Grants help teachers make learning more exciting and relevant for today s students. Projects may target curriculum, student engagement and/or parental engagement initiatives. 40 grants awarded; $91, distributed. Teachers Warehouse Teachers Warehouse provides free school supplies and classroom materials to bridge the gap between what schools have and what students and teachers need for success. The Teachers Warehouse distributed $410,210 in supplies last fiscal year. DonorsChoose.org The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools has formed a new partnership with DonorsChoose.org that is taking the place of some of the traditional Foundation programs, including Competitive Edge, Great Idea Grants and Teachers Warehouse. This new approach will allow for a broader reach for donors to support the teachers in the district and will allow them to request exactly what they need for classroom support.
