Discussion Called to question: Linda Mann Revised Budget Passed Item 5: Music Advocacy Issues-FBA/FSMA FMEA Awards Nomination forms are on the FMEA website: Item 6: Announcements FMEA Awards Nomination forms are in the Florida Music Director Magazine. Item 7: Communications/Distribution of Packets a. Stolen Oboes- see sent from executive director. b. Examples of the All State Percussion exercises and requirements have been recorded and posted on the FMEA Web Site. c. Dates for FMEA Hotel reservations: September 27 - Pre-registration begins for Conference October 4 - Hotel reservation opens at 9:00 am November 15 - Hotel room cancelation deadline at 5:00 pm November 17 - Credit Card charged for 1st night of all rooms reserved. December 12 - Pre-registration closes at midnight (postmark of Dec. 7 is paid by check) December 13 - OK to enter students attending, but you will need to stand in the ON SITE line to get badges. d. Handbook Changes- Classification and Code of Ethics. Code of Ethics: See the Handbook. Link will be sent to the district. Classification Changes: Check the Updated Handbook on the FBA Website. Item 8: Unfinished Business Host Sites still needed for Middle and High School Concert MPA-North MS Concert MPA North: March HS Concert MPA North: March 6-7 MS Location: Island Coast Senior High School HS Location: South Fort Myers High School Motion: to approve Locations with above stated Dates: Steve Detjen, Second Linda Mann. Passed: unanimously. Item 9: Committee Reports Item 10: New Business a. Membership Dues & Enrollment Forms - due September 1 - earlier if you want uninterrupted FMEA and NAfME magazine delivery. STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO AUDITION FOR ALLSTATE IF BAND DIRECTOR IS NOT AN FBA MEMBER. Send to: FMEA, or PAY DUES ON-LINE AT FSMA school dues payment (to FSMA by September 15) b. Classification Forms due October 1 to the District Chair. Principal and Director Signature Required Report the enrollment of your ENTIRE SCHOOL, not just your band program. Senior High: Report grades 9, 10, 11, 12 or 10, 11, 12 as appropriate Junior High: Report Grades 7, 8, and 9 (unless you plan to not use any 7th graders in any phase of MPA, then only count 8th and 9th graders)

3 Middle School: Report Grades 7 and 8 only LATE FINE: for submitting this form late (Payable to FBA) $ on the 8th calendar day after the deadline. Form is on the FBA website: --hover over For Directors and click Forms. c. Procedure to request a different classification: on the FBA website: hover over About FBA and click FBA Handbook, Constitution, and Bylaws d. All State Auditions: (forms are on MPA Online) Site: FGCU Date: September 20 Deadline: August 29 Fees: $20.00 LATE FINES: $50.00 for submitting forms late (Payable to FBA) $ on the 8th calendar day after the deadline (submit to your District Chair District Chairs will forward to Exec.Dir.). Band director must be a member of FMEA/FBA by September 1 (or day of audition) for students to audition. Late fines must be paid in a SEPARATE CHECK- Do not include late fees with your registration fees. e. High School Honors Band and 7-8th Grade Honor Band Nomination: Forms are generated through MPA Online. Completed forms and fees should be sent to the respective chairman whose name and address are on the form. Due September 19 and costs $15 for multiple students. f. Marching Band MPA: Date: October 25 Site: Fort Myers High School Entry Form Due Date (to district chairman): Oct. 1 LATE FINE: $50 for submitting forms late (Payable to FBA and submit to District Chair) $100 on the 8 th calendar day after the deadline SCHOOLS MUST HAVE CURRENT CLASSIFICATION FORM ON FILE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MARCHING MPA No assessment money collected at this time. Assistance needed from Middle School/Junior High directors Other Items to Discuss: Advertising, Middle School National Anthem Advertising: Looking for Sponsors. Collier is working on a relationship with classical radio stations. Steve Detjen will put together a letter for the directors to hand out to companies. Forming an advertising committee that will be headed up by Steve Detjen. Middle School National Anthem: Mr. Dean from Six Mile Charter will head that up. Filming-Video: Photos: Check with Dahlberg to clarify professional photographers Scheduling: Done by size of Winds and Percussion. g.
