1 THEME: Collaboration A SHORT FILM COMPETITION FOR N.S.W. PRIMARY SCHOOLS This festival is for films that have been created and produced by school teachers and children K-6 in N.S.W public schools. Entry forms must be completed and signed by the school principal. There is no fee to submit a film. ENTRIES DUE: Term 3, Week 7, Friday 28 th August 2015 by 4:00 p.m FINALISTS announced: Term 3, Week 9, Monday 7 th September 2015 (Finalists will be published on the school website and s will be sent to schools with finalists) SCREENING (Awards): Term 3, Week 10, Thursday 17 th September We ask that those who attend the Festival provide a gold coin donation in aid of the Greg Willis Foundation to help schools in Cambodia. Limited places will be available. CATEGORIES & DURATION: 1) Live Action Films Between 90 seconds & 4 minutes 2) Animation Between 30 seconds & 2 ½ minutes ENTRY FORM: An entry form is below. Both pages need to be completed and sent with the entry on a USB (clearly labelled with school name). 2 SUBMISSION INFORMATION: 1. Only N.S.W Public Primary students/classes/staff are permitted to enter the Short Film Competition. 2. Films must be no longer than TWO & ½ Minutes (Animation) and FOUR Minutes (Live-Action) in duration (including titles & credits). 3. Students must only be identified by their first name when displaying credits or subtitles. 4. Films must be based around the theme Collaboration. 5. All film entries must be in English or have English subtitles. 6. No violence, profanity, racial or gender bias. The committee reserves the right to disqualify entries that do not reflect the core values of the Department of Education and Communities. 7. Films must be age appropriate. 8. We require a version of your film at 16:9 widescreen ratio. 9. It is FREE (no fee) to submit a film for the competition. 10. All films submitted must comply with copyright. Use copyright free music and images (Creative Commons) or ensure you have copyright/permission to use the music or images. Remember, you must not breach anybody s copyright, privacy nor defame or slander any person in the making of your film. All schools hold the responsibility in obtaining permission for music or images. 11. Entries will be evaluated by representatives of the Cabrafest Committee. 12. Your school is responsible for the freight costs associated with sending your film. Please understand that we will be unable to return your USB. 13. Any person/school who is revealed to be dishonest in relation to these terms and conditions will be disqualified from the competition. 14. Please complete the entry form ensuring students have permission to publish. 15. Schools can confirm a festival booking by the contacting the Cabrafest Committee once Finalists have been announced. 5 PERMISSION TO PUBLISH Primary Schools throughout N.S.W are invited to submit entries in the categories of animation and live-action. Entries will form part of a local based exhibition which is open to the public. Additionally print and electronic media will be invited to promote the works and those creating the works. Finalist entries and names will be displayed on Websites and may be released to the Media for promotional purposes. Students may be photographed for inclusion in publications and media around the competition. Please obtain parental permission from parent/guardian of children under 18 years of age who appear in your film, even those who may only be in the background of scenes. I agree to allow CABRAFEST 2015 and its agents to take, print, publish and/or reproduce the film, in whole or in part, for publications including but not limited to internet and promotional material. I understand that I have no right to compensation or make any claim for the use of the film. I also agree to comply with all terms and conditions of the festival as outlined above.
