2 Competition Information Competition Levels All the Partnership cultural competitions will be judged according to the structure below; Level 1 (optional level) Individual school based winners entries are judged by school staff Level 2 (partnership level) School Sport Partnership based winners judged by a local judging panel Level 3 (county level) Northamptonshire based winners judged by Northamptonshire School Games Local Organising Committee Competition Categories Literacy Competition Year 3 & 4 Year 5 & 6 Year 7 9 Photography Competition Year 3 6 Year 7 9 Year Great British Shirt Off Competition Year 3 6 Year 7 9 Year Paralympic Hero s Competition Year 3 & 4 Year 5 & 6 Year 7 9 Entry Process Level 1 Any school in the county can host a Level 1 intra-school competition using the information provided in this document. Level 2 1) Where a school organise a Level 1 competition, their age category winners must be sent to their School Sport Manager for consideration at the Level 2 competition 2) Where a school do not organise a Level 1 competition, young people may submit directly to the Level 2 stage. Once the deadline has expired, a pool of local judges, selected at the discretion of the School Sport Manager, will determine a winner for each age category. Level 3 Level 2 age category winners will be judged by the School Games Local Organising Committee to determine the county competition winners. If you are under 16 years of age, you must obtain your parent or guardian's permission before entering. The story must be a fictional short story (no more than 500 words in length) Northamptonshire Sport will only ever use your personal details for the purposes of administering this competition, and will not publish them or provide them to anyone without your permission. You agree to take part in any competition publicity if asked to do so. The prize may only be taken as stated and cannot be deferred. There will be no cash alternatives. You must supply full details as required above, and comply with all rules to be eligible for the award. No responsibility is accepted for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently. By submitting your story to Northamptonshire Sport you agree to grant Northamptonshire Sport and its partners free of charge the right to publish and the right to licence others to publish the story online and in all media as required. 4 Photography Competition Competition Task Take a photo of a sports competition/physical activity session/young leader session that is offered by your school Competition Period 1 st January 2016 to 25 th March 2016 Deadline for entries All entries are to be submitted via by 5.00pm on Friday 25 th March Submissions made after the deadline will not be considered. 5 Photography Competition Continued... Rules continued If your photograph features any person or people, they should be aware they were being photographed and permission should be obtained from all involved (or their parents/guardians if under 16) for their photograph to be submitted in a competition. If it is clear that the people are not aware of their picture being taken or are embarrassed in any way in any entry we receive, Northamptonshire Sport reserves the right to disqualify the entry. Each entry must have a title and location and may include an optional description, again using the nomination form or on line entry system. Images of up to 10MB must be submitted online in a jpeg format. You may be asked for higher resolution images subsequently as winning images will be printed and exhibited. A maximum of three entries will be accepted per person and entries will not be returned. 8 Paralympic hero s competition Competition Task Research a Paralympic Hero who will compete in the 2016 Rio Paralympics and create a biography about them Each submission for the Biography contest must fit within a fairly traditional definition of biography. It must be a non-fiction account of the life of a real person, written by someone other than the subject of the biography. It is not necessary to cover the subject s entire life in this format biographies that explore a period in the subject s life, or even a single event in the subject s life are acceptable. While the biography themselves may be very personal, they should communicate something of relevance to the reader.
