Product Overview Skyscape Private Cloud Foundry (PCF) is built using the most popular, open source PaaS technology, providing a flexible and scalable application compute platform designed for developers who just want to publish their code. Unlike traditional managed service PaaS offerings, it provides a modern application platform designed specifically to facilitate and accelerate the end-to-end development, deployment and operation of digital applications. Skyscape PCF maximises development time-to-value and provides the highest levels of data security. Consumers with lower security requirements may prefer a shared Cloud Foundry (multi-tenant) environment
Classification: Open 2 and as such can chose Skyscape Assured Public Cloud Foundry (AP-CF), providing greater commercial flexibility. Private Cloud Foundry is a single tenant platform designed specifically for customers who require data isolation beyond our Assured Public Cloud Foundry service. It leverages shared physical infrastructure deployed as a secure, UK sovereign cloud platform that benefits from extensive independent validation. Figure 1 Solution Elements This solution is designed for developers and Agile projects as a Cloud Computing Platform rather than at end users who usually expect SaaS or IaaS solutions. Using this solution, developers can rapidly provision applications which deliver business value to end users. Skyscape s Private Cloud Foundry service has been designed specifically for the UK public sector and is available only to the UK public sector. The service supports and complies with all relevant areas of the Government ICT Strategy and Information Principles for the UK Public Sector. Skyscape s datacentres are some of the most energy efficient in the world and as such support the Green Government ICT Strategy in full. Example Use Cases Simpler Better Cheaper IT projects are traditionally complex, requiring careful juggling of server hardware, storage, networking, operating systems, middleware and, of course, the development of the actual application. Skyscape PCF enables developers to simplify and focus on creating business value via the development, testing and scaling of the application. Skyscape PCF designed for digital applications. It enables customers to achieve much faster time to value as code can simply be pushed to the Application Platform, enabling scalability of production applications through very simple commands. Skyscape PCF helps developers achieve truly representative non-production environments to improve the quality of testing. PCF removes the cost and complexity related to the provisioning, management and scaling of underlying infrastructure, OS and middleware components as these are all provided as an integral part of the application platform. Customers can spend more time developing and coding with less focus upon operating and administrating systems, allowing more investment in development and new functionality.
Classification: Open 3 Trial Service Skyscape encourage customers to evaluate the functionality of Cloud Foundry via the Skyscape Assured Public Cloud Foundry service, which provides consumers with an immediately available and elastic multitenant application platform which is ideal for trials and proof of concept exercises. Information Assurance The Skyscape Private Cloud Foundry platform is designed and optimised to meet the unique information assurance needs of UK public sector organisations. UK Sovereign cloud platform delivered from two secure UK data centres by a UK company with SC cleared UK staff Suitable for all data classified at OFFICIAL, including OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE data under the Government Security Classification Policy (GSCP) Suitable for legacy IL2, IL3 and IL4 (by aggregation) systems under the Government Protective Marking Scheme (GPMS) Extensive independent validation of alignment with the CESG Cloud Security Principles Built on accredited PSN infrastructure enabling secure, compliant access via both PSN Assured & PSN Protected networks Independently certified against ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and members of the Cloud Security Alliance Secure (List X) and resilient (Tier 3) UK data centres facilities capable of hosting data classified at SECRET Product Features Skyscape Private Cloud Foundry provides a flexible and scalable application compute platform designed for developers who just want to publish their code, and offers the following benefits: Based on the leading open source application computing platform, Cloud Foundry, which enhances application portability and reduces lock-in Focus upon your application, not your infrastructure; Increase time-to-value - Rapidly deploy environments to get your code from repository to production within minutes Easily, instantly and elastically scale to thousands of users Total control over the amount of instances allocated to your application as your requirements change or evolve Built in application health management helps to reduce traditional cost associated with application monitoring, whilst still enabling the highest level of application availability Repeatable environments and code deployments, mitigating against misconfiguration or dependency issues Capitalise on existing investment; Compatibility with popular development frameworks and languages familiar to developers Interoperable with other Cloud Foundry providers allow re-use of existing deployments Compatible with the majority of existing Heroku buildpacks
Classification: Open 4 Flexible and extensible; A true cloud service, with no set-up fees. Billed by the hour / resources used enabling significant cost savings if instances are scaled down when not needed and simply scaled out when they are Includes associated Cloud Foundry bundled open source data services totally free to use but with all published applications and data services being supported by the global Cloud Foundry community Assured Security the service is hosted on Infrastructure which is available at both Assured OFFICIAL and Elevated OFFICIAL security domains, hosted in highly resilient Tier3, UK sovereign data centres and benefits from Protective Monitoring Green the Skyscape service is based in UK data centres which offer market leading efficiency around power and cooling Technical Features Skyscape Private Cloud Foundry provides the following technical features: Total Platform Isolation Based on open source Cloud Foundry 2.x Free HTTP Routing, Traffic and Load Balancing Supports many popular development frameworks and languages: Java Spring Ruby Sinatra Node.js Provides popular open source data service packages deployable within the Cloud Foundry platform, all supported by the global Cloud Foundry community; these services include: MySQL, the open source relational database Postgres, relational database based on PostgreSQL MongoDB, the scalable, open, document-based database RabbitMQ, for reliable, scalable, and portable messaging for applications Extensible to support external data services hosted on Skyscape IaaS (for example Microsoft SQL, Oracle or others), along with additional Skyscape services such as Hadoop in the Cloud Skyscape use VMware vsphere as the hypervisor for the underlying IaaS service and open source Cloud Foundry as the application platform Service Options Typical use cases should be based upon true cloud applications (for example Digital Applications) requiring a higher level of data isolation, which are designed to expect and tolerate component failure in production environments where disposable, stateless compute resources can be utilised.
Classification: Open 5 The service is powered by Skyscape Compute-as-a-Service and Skyscape Cloud Storage with underlying application instances being targeted to specific availability zones. The underpinning Cloud Foundry services are also distributed across multiple availability zones to increase fault tolerance, helping to ensure your applications remain highly available and resilient. Backup/Recovery and Disaster Recovery As standard, localised component failures are tolerated within the infrastructure by eliminating single points of failure (including physical server failure or disk failure). Although Cloud Foundry is designed to deploy and manage stateless apps (applications that can be killed and re-instantiated without risk of data loss), customers should ensure they maintain a master copy or backup copy of any persistent or dynamic data hosted on this service (i.e. MySQL DB); for example by using Skyscape s Cloud Storage. Service Levels Skyscape will use reasonable endeavours to monitor the services and resources that underpin the Cloud Foundry platform, and to ensure that the availability of Assured Public Cloud Foundry in a given calendar month equals 99.50%. If the availability of the service is less than the associated availability commitment, the customer may request service credits for the service within 30 calendar days of the service being deemed unavailable. For more detailed information on our SLAs please request the Skyscape SLA definition document. Skyscape provide both an availability SLA and response time SLA for Assured Public Cloud Foundry as per the following table. Incident response Service credits Availability (monthly*) 99.50% P1 within 15 minutes P2 within 4 hours P3 within 24 hours P4 within 72 hours 3% of monthly spend for affected Cloud Foundry platform * Availability indication based on an average 730hrs per month. This excludes planned & emergency maintenance. Unavailability definition Where the Cloud Foundry environment becomes unresponsive due to a fault within the Skyscape s controlled Cloud Foundry infrastructure and services; Where fault is within Skyscape controlled components such as the virtual infrastructure, storage, power and physical firewalls & routers etc. Where fault is within the Skyscape maintained Cloud Foundry services (i.e. router service, DEAs, Health Manager) Exclusions from any unavailability definitions or calculations shall include; Where fault rest with external connectivity providers (e.g. internet, PSN) and components collocated at Skyscape Any fault deemed to be within the consumers control (i.e. any fault related to code owned and controlled by the consumer In addition, Skyscape also provide an availability service level target on the Skyscape API and Portal i.e. the ability to login to manage your environment via portal, create support tickets and use other functions. Access to the API allows direct commands to be sent to the environment for programmatic control of the Skyscape Compute Service.
Classification: Open 6 Target Availability (monthly*) Target Availability (monthly*) 99.90% Service credits 1% of monthly spend per 1% below service level target or part thereof Pricing Model This service is primarily based upon deployed digital applications coupled with underlying application compute instances required to support the varied workloads placed upon each application. Private Cloud Foundry has been designed to provide the additional assurance of a totally isolated application platform. As the platform is not shared with other consumers, the pricing reflects the fixed cost of providing the supporting infrastructure (i.e. the Starter Pack ) as well as an elastic element related to the dynamically scaling portion of the applications (i.e. the Application RAM ): Assured OFFICIAL Elevated OFFICIAL Starter Pack (including 8GB application RAM) 2,500 per month* 3,000 per month* Each Subsequent 1 GB Application RAM (or part 0.15 per GB/hr 0.18 per GB/hr thereof) * Please note this product has a minimum 3 month commitment The pricing for the following items can be found in the Skyscape Pricing Guide. Data ingestion and extraction Connectivity options Skyscape Cloud Storage In addition, customers may choose to use a specialist partner for a variety of enablement services and customers may also choose to use software services which might require licenses or support subscriptions as shown in figure 2. For clarity, Skyscape do not mandate either the use of partners or the necessity to procure licenses/subscriptions. 1. Size the Platform Amount of Application RAM Persistent Storage capacity Connectivity 2. Select your partner Assessments PoC/PoV Agile Software Development Training 3. Licenses & Subscriptions External data services (e.g. Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Mongo etc) Figure 2 Platform as a Service Pricing
Classification: Open 7 Step 1: Size the Platform Application Memory (RAM) each application consists of a collection of one or more instance. Instances are used to provide scale and resilience to an application and so the number of instances depends on the application requirements. Our service is priced upon the cumulative memory your application consumes rather than the number of individual instances, with each GB beyond the initial 8GB (provided within the Starter Pack) priced from 0.15 per hour Note: Cloud Foundry data services will require additional instances when deployed within the Cloud Foundry Platform. The memory these instances consume will count towards your cumulative application memory, and billed as above Storage all instances come with ephemeral, non-persistent storage and so customers are advised to store their data assets on Skyscape Cloud Storage currently starting from per GB per month (see related service description in G-Cloud Digital Marketplace) Step 2: Select your partner (optional) Skyscape provide an open-source Cloud Foundry application platform on which developers can deploy, test and scale digital applications Customers who have (or are developing) in-house skills and experience with compatible Cloud Foundry (e.g. IBM Bluemix, Pivotal CF, etc.) development frameworks and services will be able to gain benefit from using Skyscape Private Cloud Foundry directly Customers expecting a service providing an IaaS or SaaS experience will require a specialist partner to provide training, software development or advisory services Skyscape can introduce customers to a variety of partners in our partner programme, many of which have appropriate Specialist Consulting Services in G-Cloud Digital Marketplace Step 3: Licensing and Subscription (optional) Skyscape Private Cloud Foundry is powered by Cloud Foundry, the leading and most prevalent opensource PaaS Open source Cloud Foundry does not entitle customers to commercial support; however support is available from the global Cloud Foundry open source community Should customers wish to benefit from a commercially supported Cloud Foundry product, customers are able to engage with one of the many emerging Cloud Foundry consultancies (e.g. CloudCredo, AnyNines, etc.) or commercial vendor (e.g. IBM Bluemix, Pivotal CF, etc.), and arrange to deploy their services upon Skyscape s IaaS platform Commitment Discount Consumers commit to spending a specific minimum amount each month for a minimum of 12 months. The discount level attained is based on the total spend committed for qualifying Skyscape products (for example Skyscape Cloud Storage is excluded). To achieve the discount, the consumer will fix a value that they will commit to spend for each month of the term. This must be in a single PO with each month as a separate line item. As Consumers can consume more than their committed amount each month, they must also add an additional line item and value to cover any over spend. This must be part of the same PO.
Classification: Open 8 If the consumer has an existing contract, they must accept a contract change notice and set the values as outlined above. Where multiple contracts are affected any changes will be made via a side letter. Points: PO Value < 250K 0% 250K- 499K 9% 500K- 749K 13% 750K- 1,499k 16% 1,500K + 19% Discount Level Individual projects or departments (billing entities associated with each monthly spend) can be amended during the year through discussion with and agreement from Skyscape; however the committed value cannot be reduced midterm Consumers only get a discounted rate for each month, up to the set monthly figure i.e. not for over usage At the end of each month Skyscape will do one of two things If the actual usage is above the committed value, Skyscape will take the value from the monthly commitment line item and the remaining balance from the Overspend line item If the actual usage is below the set value, Skyscape will bill the consumer the committed value At the end of the 12 months, Skyscape will rebate the consumer the value of the applicable discount over the 12 month period minus any over usage for the last month. For example, the invoice for month 12 is for the committed consumption plus any overuse at standard prices with the potential for a 12 month rebate If the Overspend PO line item value is spent prior to the 12 months, the consumer must issue a top up PO value for the remainder of the 12 months or increase their spend and commit to a further 12 months The consumer will pay for any usage above the set amount at tfhe standard rates The discount is set based on the committed PO value, not the actual usage Related Services This service may be bought in conjunction with the following other MDS G-Cloud services: Compute as a Service Managed Server Cloud Enablement Connecting to the Cloud
Classification: Open 9 Appendix On-boarding and off-boarding On-boarding Within 20 business days of acceptance of an order, Skyscape will create the Cloud Foundry platform and send the consumer a welcome pack which includes the URL for the Skyscape customer portal and associated authentication details. Off-boarding Consumers are expected to maintain a master copy or backup copy of the data used in Skyscape Platform as a Service. Hence, there is no requirement for the consumer to transfer their data out of the solution at the end of the contract. Rather, the consumer merely has to securely delete the data prior to the termination of the contract. Service management Skyscape may use an established Cloud Foundry consultancy or Digital Team as a sub-contractor for specialist services. Service constraints Skyscape will adhere to the following in terms of maintenance windows; Planned Maintenance means any pre-planned maintenance of any infrastructure or core platform relating to the services. Skyscape shall provide the client with at least twenty four (24) hours advance notice of any such planned maintenance: Planned maintenance of Skyscape s infrastructure relating to the Services shall happen between the hours of 00:00 and 06:00 (UK local time) Monday to Sunday and/or between the hours of 08:00 and 12:00 (UK local time) on a Saturday and/or Sunday. No planned maintenance will take place on a Saturday unless agreed in advance by both parties; Planned Maintenance shall be excluded from any availability calculation in regard to service credits but shall be included in the monthly service reporting; Emergency Maintenance means any emergency maintenance of any of the infrastructure relating to the Services. Whenever possible, Skyscape shall provide the Client with at least six (6) hours advance notice: Whenever possible Emergency Maintenance of Skyscape s infrastructure will happen between the hours of 00:00 and 06:00 (UK local time) Monday to Sunday and/or between the hours of 08:00 and 12:00 (UK local time)on Saturday and/or Sunday unless there is an identified and demonstrable immediate risk to a Clients environment; Emergency Maintenance shall be excluded from any availability calculation in regard to service credits but shall be included in the monthly service reporting. Each instance of Private Cloud Foundry can scale to a maximum of 200GB of Application Memory. Any additional Application Memory will need to be provisioned on an additional Private Cloud Foundry platform. Training Skyscape have a number of partners who are able to deliver additional services such as training, support and advisory services. Skyscape would be pleased to introduce you to such partners where appropriate. Skyscape will also be developing a number of videos, help guides, manuals and FAQs to help train and instruct future users so that are up and running quickly and easily. Ordering and invoicing Skyscape Private Cloud Foundry is offered subject to availability. Billing for the service is monthly in arrears. Payment can be via purchase order and direct debit.
Classification: Open 10 Service lead time Setting up a Cloud Foundry platform will typically be completed within 20 business days from acceptance of order. Shorter deployment times are typically achieved and can be prioritised upon request. Termination Terms At the point of termination, all consumer data, accounts and access will be permanently deleted, and will not be able to be subsequently recovered or restored. Costs There are no termination costs for this Service. Consumers are responsible for extracting their own data from the platform if required. Skyscape may make an additional charge for transferring data out of the service. Data restoration/service migration In many circumstances, Skyscape can help facilitate a bulk migration to the platform using local data import. This is priced on a time and materials basis from the Skyscape SFIA rate card. Customer responsibilities The control and management of access and responsibilities for end users including appropriate connectivity, security and accreditation if required. Where access is required over N3 or PSN, the consumer is responsible for adhering to the Code of Connection and assigning appropriate IP addresses from their own allocation to their services hosted on the Skyscape platform. Management and administration of layers above the Cloud Foundry platform (e.g. code development, data services, continuous integration, DevOps, data ingest, etc). Procurement of any additional Partner services, product licenses or subscriptions as required for the consumer s specific implementation. Consumers must be aware of the variable nature of the billing based on usage. The consumer is also responsible for ensuring only appropriate data (e.g. OFFICIAL) is stored and processed by applications on this environment and that they comply with the Skyscape Security Operating Procedures (SyOps) and other information assurance requirements as specified in Skyscape System Interconnect and Security Policy (SISP) and associated accreditation documentation sets. Financial recompense model Consumers may be entitled to financial recompense as outlined in the service level section of this document. Technical requirements Consumers have a number of options to choose from with Skyscape to access their environment dependant on their requirement.
