5 CLOUD SOLUTIONS DEFINITION CLOUD COMPUTING IS... In the simplest terms, cloud computing means storing and accessing data and programs over the Internet instead of the computer hard drive. This means that with an online connection, cloud computing can be done anywhere, with any device, anytime. Benefits of cloud computing services: No wasted capacity > if extra capacity is required, it can be purchased as needed, rather than over-specifying hardware and storage in advance to cope with future needs. Conversely, extra capacity can be handed back and de-provisioned if no longer required. No in house equipment acquisition and maintenance > there is no hardware or environment maintenance to be considered in maintaining cloud based IT-infrastructure. Access to data anywhere > / documents stored with cloud providers are accessible through any internet connected device with a web browser. Synchronization of data across devices > following the support for mobile devices, it is also possible to use cloud services to synchronies data across many devices, both portable and desktop. Minimize licensing new software > Allows to stretch and grow without the need to buy expensive software licenses or programs. Sustainable solution > Businesses using cloud computing only use the server space they need, which represents (i) lower costs, (i) more efficient energy consumption (iii) smaller carbon footprint.

Per year, PT s Cloud Service allows a Medium- Size Enterprise to save, on average: FINANCIAL: savings of 80% as a consequence of the non acquisition and maintenance of technical equipment and respective energy consumption. ENERGY: consumption reduction of KWh. CO2 EMISSIONS: savings of 6.6 tonnes. TO PORTUGAL TELECOM Offering excellence cloud solutions is one of PT s top priorities as one of the companies efficient response to the currently data tsunami.
