1 N S F A S R E C R U I T I N G M A N D A T E The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) is a public entity accountable to the Department of Higher Education and Training. It provides financial assistance to eligible students at public universities and at Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges throughout South Africa. These vacancies exist in Cape Town. NSFAS is in the process of implementing a new operating model as part of its organisational transformation programme. Currently, funding is allocated to universities and Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, which then manage applications by students for funding; payment of fees; and distribution of allowances to successful applicants. In future, students will apply directly to NSFAS, and NSFAS will manage the disbursement of funds to institutions for fees and residence, and to students for allowances such as food and books. CORDYS INTEGRATION SPECIALIST (PERMANENT POSITION JOB GRADE 11-12) POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the ICT Senior Manager (Application Development and Support) the role will be responsible for the following main areas: Design the integration and application architecture for the operating model using Cordys BOP4 software. Work with business/system analysts to design and implement the Cordys integration environment Driving the ongoing management of the integration bus within the organization 1

2 KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS: 1. Design the Integration bus Identify all required functionality Identify the various interfaces that will be needed to enhance NSFAS systems Design User Interface, BPM and Web Services Design procedures/standards to manage the integration layer. 2. Maintain Cordys integration bus: Develop the Cordys architecture that will meet the required functionality. Configure/build the Cordys applications to meet the organisation s requirements. Prepare technical documentation for new and existing applications Perform unit and system integration testing. 3. Ongoing management of Cordys environment Perform unit and system integration testing. Provide support to users on Cordys. Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities to implement further Cordys functionality that will add value to the organization. DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or similar relevant qualification At least 7 years of specialist experience working with core integration technologies; At least 5 years experience working in a similar integration environment; Experience of development of interfaces software: Understanding and experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Software development experience using Java, Microsoft.net or C++ languages 2

3 Experience with use case modeling Experience in software development to common coding, version control and architectural standards Knowledgeable in software quality concepts such documenting source code and software language specific code quality practices Understanding of software development team management support tools such as JIRA, ANT or similar task, issues and software build tools Experience in applied unit testing Experience writing database access code Understanding of system architecture and component-based architecture and design Experience with software version control systems, preferably Subversions Experience with SOA, portal, J2EE, and Microsoft technologies, such as: o Portals/Portlets (e.g. Vignette, WebSphere Portal, WebLogic Portal) o Content Management (e.g. Documentum, OpenText, SharePoint) o Programming Structures (e.g..net, J2EE, XML, Struts) o Business Process Modeling (BPM) Tools (e.g. Oracle, Eclipse, Cordys, WebSphere) o Cloud Computing Integration (e.g. Amazon, Google, HP) o Server Integrations (e.g. WebSphere, Cordys, Tibco) o Operating environments (UNIX, AIX, Solaris, AIX, Windows) COMPETENCIES: Experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Agile/Scrum Experience in Software development using integrated development environment Eclipse etc. Solid experience in System/application architecture - SOA, J2EE, Object Oriented Analysis and Design Experience in Middleware/Integration Technologies Integration development experience (BPM, ESB, MOM) 3

4 Solid experience in service & interface design (Web services & REST) Solid experience in Java development (Certified Java Programmer qualification advantageous) Application level knowledge of Software Design Patterns Personal attributes Accountability Creativity Analytical Influential Interpersonal Relationships Results Driven Innovative Flexible Ability to work under pressure JOB DETAILS Job grade: Remuneration: R R Total Cost to Company per annum inclusive of all benefits and company contributions. Included in the above remuneration is the company contribution to our compulsory pension fund (15%), medical aid contributions and an annual bonus. 4
