Specifically, the goal was to learn about using Complex Instruction, an equityoriented group work pedagogy, to support prospective teachers in engaging their marginalized students in mathematical tasks. Teach Math Dissemination Conference/ Working Group Jointly hosted by the Michigan State University and the University of Arizona in collaboration with the University of Washington. The purpose of this meeting is to compare results of trying aspects of the research team s curriculum designed for use in elementary mathematics methods courses to help preservice teachers learning to connect to children s mathematical thinking and children s home and community-based funds of knowledge in mathematics instruction.
