26 Parents of students who are in-district (live in this school s geographic boundaries) and qualify for our Optional program need to complete the application and submit all proper documentation to White Station Middle School. These parents do not need to go through the application process online or the in-person application process at the Board of Education.
27 Online Application Procedures To submit an online application, the student must currently attend a Shelby County School in grades kindergarten through eleven. Students attending an ASD school, Shelby County Schools Campus School or a charter school cannot apply online, since we do not have access to their report cards. Parents of eligible students for the online application process can pick up a bar-coded ticket application January 27 th from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm or January 28 th, 29 th and 30 th from 7:00 am until 5 pm at the SCS Board of Education. If you have a bar-coded application, you can submit an application online by going to the Optional Schools website. You will receive a computergenerated receipt. If you complete the online application, you do not need to return to the Board of Education on January 31 st. In order to use the bar-coded application online, the online submission must occur prior to January 31 st at 5 pm. NOTE: The online application process is not available if you choose to have your child privately tested or if test results other than the TCAP Achievement Test is submitted. Applications or required documents must be submitted in person or by mail.
28 In Person Application Procedures You may submit an application in person if you do not have web access or if you prefer not to submit an application online. You must apply in person if you choose to have your child privately tested or if you use a test other than the TCAP Achievement Test results. If your child is currently not enrolled in a Shelby County School (Campus School, ASD school, private, independent, parochial, or a charter school), you must apply in person. You may pick up a bar-coded application January 27 th from 6:30 am until 5:00 pm at the SCS Board of Education auditorium or January 28 th, 29 th and 30 th from 7:00am until 5:00 pm at BOE, Room 106. Then, to apply in person, you must bring the application with all proper documentation on January 31 st between 6:30 am and 5 pm to Board of Education auditorium. After January 31 st, applications may be submitted to the Board of Education, Optional Office in Room 106. However, bar-coded ticket applications may not be used after 5pm on January 31 st.
29 Applications for Optional School with proper documentation attached may be mailed to: Department of Optional Schools and Advanced Academics Shelby County Schools 160 S. Hollywood, Coe-106 Memphis, TN Applications received in the mail will be processed at the end of the work day. Bar-coded applications may be mailed but must be received by January 31 st at 5 pm. Bar-coded applications will be processed in numerical order, with the last four digits of the bar code number holding your place in line.
