3 THE DONATO HAIRSTYLING PROGRAM The Hairstyling Program at Donato Academy incorporates theory and practical learning in four Elements. Each Element is designed to introduce the core knowledge and skills required to be a successful stylist or colour technician. Lectures and demonstrations will focus on areas including hair and scalp analysis, product recommendations, customer service, retail selling and professional image. Program Length: 44 Weeks Number of Hours: 1,500+ Tuition: $8,880 Kit Fee: $1,760 Text Fee: $950 Uniform: All black or black bottom and white top, professional look, closed-toe shoes ELEMENT ONE Hair Theory One Service Lab 1 Core Hairstyling 1 Salon Operations ELEMENT TWO Cutting Techniques Basic Service Lab 2 Academy Clinic One Chemical Treatments - Perms + Relaxers Core Hairstyling 2 - Intro to Colour ELEMENT THREE Cutting Techniques - Advanced Service Lab 3 Academy Clinic Two Core Hairstyling 3 - Advanced Colour ELEMENT FOUR Practical Salon REGISTRATION Students are required to have their OSSD (grade 12 diploma), or equivalent, as well as transcript. Otherwise, students are required to write the CAAT test. Students taking the CAAT test will be charged a non-refundable $40 fee to write this test in addition to the Registration Fee. Proof of photo identification such as a Driver's License, Passport, Citizenship Cards or Provincial ID is required, as well as proof of Social Insurance Card. A Registration Fee of $100 is required to process the application. Registration Applications can be downloaded online at obtained in person at our Academy or at one of our Donato Salon and Spa locations. PAYMENT OPTIONS Payments can be made Monthly, or in full. Our admissions personnel will help you to determine what payment option is most convenient for you. Post dated cheques must be provided for the complete academic term.

5 JOHN DONATO John Donato was born in Toronto to a family of hairdressers. His childhood was spent on the floor assisting stylists and technicians in his father s hair salon where ultimately he learned at an early age that hair amplifies style. John s formal training as a hairstylist took him from Toronto to Los Angeles, London and Paris, where he was exposed to the highest level of the hair styling craft. Upon his return to Toronto, John began operating his first hair salon and participating as a guest artist at international hair shows in the fashion capitals of the world. It was also at that time that the opportunities to work internationally on photography sets, in television studios, and at fashion shows added further dimension to his career. With the beauty industry community being a continual source of inspiration, fused with his vision and perseverance, twenty-five years later John continues to grow and gain momentum with his enterprise. John has been presented with numerous beauty industry awards including North American Editorial Stylist of the Year, Canadian Hairdresser of the Year, and Avant Garde Stylist of the Year to name a few. He owns three full-service Donato Salon + Spa locations in the Greater Toronto Area, in addition to the Donato Academy of Hairstyling and Aesthetics.
