4 Section 1 Instaation Checkist 1. Verify that the foowing items are avaiabe: o Power Xpert Gateway (PXGX) UPS Card package contents (card, cabe, Quick Start Instructions) o Phiips screwdriver o Avaiabe USB port on a computer running Microsoft Windows o Web browser (Microsoft Internet Exporer version 8.0 and higher, Mozia Firefox, or Googe Chrome are recommended) 2. If you are going to use Dynamic Host Configuration Protoco (DHCP), provide your oca network administrator with the card's MAC address. The MAC address is ocated on either the shipping box abe or the abe on this card. o MAC Address 3. If you are not going to use DHCP to provide any of the settings isted beow, contact your oca network administrator for the settings. In the tabe beow, check the DHCP check box or enter the vaues for manua configuration.you wi reference this data ater in the procedure. 5 Section 2 Insta the Card Note: The hot-swappabe PXGX UPS card can be instaed without turning off the UPS or disconnecting the oad. To insta the PXGX UPS card: 1. Verify that a six DIP switches on the card are in the OFF position (see Figure 1). OFF ON Figure 1. Verify DIP Switches are OFF 2. If not aready done, record the MAC address for future reference (see the Instaation Checkist on page 2). 3. Remove the X-sot cover from the UPS. Retain the screws. Note: If another card is aready instaed with an attached communication cabe, disconnect the cabe and then remove the card. 4. 6 5. Side the card into the open sot and secure with the screws removed in Step 2 (see Figure 2). On the Features tab, cick the Downoad Configuration Fie ink to downoad the configuration fie. 8. Save the driver configuration fie (powerxpert.inf) to the C: drive using the defaut ocation or a foder you seect. Note the path of the downoaded fie on your computer. 7 Section 3 Connect the Card to the Computer To connect the card to the computer: 1. Pug the sma connector at the end of the suppied USB configuration cabe into the setup port on the card (see Figure 3). Pug the other end of the USB cabe into the USB port on the computer. The Windows operating system detects new hardware. Note: If a message indicates that the device driver software was not successfuy instaed, cick Ignore. Note: You may see a pop-up message window that shows Found new hardware. 8 3. Connect an active Ethernet cabe (not suppied) to the Upstream Ethernet connector on the PXGX UPS card (see Figure 4). 4. If you are connecting to another PXGX UPS card or other Ethernet device, connect an Ethernet cabe (not suppied) to the Downstream Ethernet connector on the PXGX UPS card. Wait for the power ight and status ight on the instaed card to iuminate. This takes about two minutes. 6. 9 7. Did the Power Xpert Gateway software open to the PXGX UPS card page? If yes, the driver has aready been instaed automaticay. Either verify the IP address assigned through DHCP or manuay enter a static (fixed) IP address for the card s network connection: a.to verify the DHCP-assigned IP address, go to page 13. b.to manuay enter a fixed IP address, go to page 16. If no, the driver has not been instaed. Go to the next section, "Insta the Driver Software" on page 8 in order to confirm that you have the most current USB Driver software. 10 Section 4 Insta the Driver Software The steps you use to insta the driver software depend on your operating system (OS). This procedure provides instructions for instaing driver software on a Windows 7 OS. Note: Note: Note: Windows 8 steps are basicay the same as Windows 7, athough the diaog dispays may differ somewhat. The PXGX UPS and PXGMS cards use the same driver. You can use either the Device Manager path or the Devices and Printers path to browse for the driver software and insta it. This procedure uses the Device Manager. To insta the driver from the Device Manager: 1. Cick Start in the Start bar. Type Device in the search box. 2. Seect Device Manager from the ist above the search box. The Device Manager opens. 3. Locate RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget under either Other Devices or Network Adapters (see Figure 5). If you do not see RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget in either ist, you do not have a cabe connected to the card. Connect the computer to the card. Go back to Step 1. If RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget is isted under Other Devices, the driver is not instaed. Go to Step 4. If RNDIS/Ethernet Gadget is isted under Network Adapters, a driver is instaed aready, but it may not be the most up-to-date driver. If a pop-up message dispays, The best driver is aready instaed, cick Cose and go to Step 10. Otherwise, go to Step Seect Browse my computer for driver software (see Figure 6). Cick Next. 12 Figure 6. Update Driver Software Window Search Method 6. Cick Browse. The Browse for Foder diaog dispays. Seect the foder that contains drivers for your hardware. Cick OK. The Browse for driver software on your computer page dispays. 7. The path to the powerxpert.inf fie dispays in the Search for driver software in this ocation box. Cick Browse and navigate to the powerxpert.inf fie you aready downoaded. Seect the fie and cick Next (see Figure 7). If a pop-up message dispays, The best driver is aready instaed, cick Cose and go to Step 10. Update Driver Software Window Browse for Driver Software Note: If the message Windows can't verify the pubisher of this driver software dispays, seect Insta this driver software anyway (see Figure 8). Figure 8. Windows Security Message 8. When the driver software is updated successfuy, the message Windows has successfuy updated your driver software dispays (see Figure 9). Either obtain the DHCP-assigned IP address or manuay enter a fixed IP address: Note: To obtain the IP address assigned through DHCP, continue to "Obtain a DHCP-Assigned IP Address" on page 13. To manuay enter a static (fixed) IP address for the card s network connection, continue to "Assign an IP Address Manuay" on page 16. 15 Section 5 Obtain a DHCP-Assigned IP Address To obtain the IP address through DHCP: 1. Ensure the PXGX UPS card is sti connected to the computer over the USB cabe. Aso ensure that the network cabe is connected from the PXGX UPS card Ethernet port to the network connection. 2. If your Web browser aready open to the defaut IP address, go to Step 3. Otherwise, perform the foowing: Open your Web browser. Enter: Note: Log on as administrator. The defaut username and defaut password are admin. The PXGX UPS card Web page dispays. If the system is unresponsive and you cannot make any seections, the browser may be running in compatibiity mode. To disabe compatibiity mode, go to "Disabe Browser Compatibiity Mode" on page Seect Network from the Configuration menu. The Network page dispays (see Figure 10). 4. Under IPv4, the Automatic Configuration: DHCP Enabed setting checkbox shoud be enabed by defaut. Make sure the checkbox is checked (enabed) before continuing. 5. Scro down to Name Service and expand the seection to update the next two DHCP settings (see Figure 10): Check the checkbox (enabe) for Use DHCP (when enabed) to get name services. 16 6. Cick Appy. Figure 10. Name Service Settings 7. Seect Yes for the message, Do you want to save the Network Configuration? 8. Wait for approximatey two minutes for the card to reboot. Initiay, a ights wi be it. You wi know the card has finished rebooting when ony the top ight (Status) and the bottom ight (Power) remain it. 9. Open a browser and enter the defaut IP address ( ). 10. When prompted, og on as administrator. The defaut username and defaut password are admin. 17 11. Cick Network in the menu ist. 12. Does the IP address dispay? Note: If yes, uncheck (disabe) the DHCP Enabed box and seect Appy. At this point, the DHCP address is saved as a static IP address. Note: If no, go to "Assign an IP Address Manuay" on page 16 to manuay obtain a static IP address for the PXGX UPS card. For detaied information, refer to the Eaton Power Xpert Gateway (PXGX) UPS User s Guide, which is avaiabe through a ink on the Documentation tab on the PXGX UPS product Web page. 18 Section 6 Assign an IP Address Manuay To manuay assign a static (fixed) IP address for the card: 1. Ensure the PXGX UPS card is sti connected over the USB cabe and the network cabe is connected from the PXGX UPS card Ethernet port to the network connection. 2. If your Web browser aready open, go to Step 3. Otherwise, perform the foowing: Open your Web browser. Enter: Log on as administrator. The defaut username and defaut password are admin. The PXGX UPS card Web page dispays. Go to Step 3. Note: If the system is unresponsive and you cannot make any seections, the browser may be running in compatibiity mode. To disabe compatibiity mode, go to "Disabe Browser Compatibiity Mode" on page Seect Network from the Configuration menu. 19 Figure 11. Disabe DHCP Setting 4. Uncheck the DHCP Enabed checkbox to disabe DHCP and aow you to manuay configure the IP address (see Figure 11). 5. Refer to the "Instaation Checkist" on page 2 in this book. Enter the IP address, Netmask, and Gateway addresses in the IPv4 > Manua Configuration section. 6. Cick Appy, then cick OK to confirm. 7. Optiona. If you are using a host name, or host names, for controing access to the card: Type the server IP address in the Name Server box. (Up to three IP addresses can be entered.) Cick Appy. 20 8. Open a browser and enter the fixed (static) IP address. 9. Log on as administrator. The defaut username and defaut password are admin. When the PXGX UPS card Web page dispays, you know the fixed IP Address is working. 21 Section 7 Disabe Browser Compatibiity Mode Browser compatibiity aows Web pages designed for oder versions to dispay propery. If data does not dispay propery on your PXGX UPS card Web page, the browser compatibiity mode shoud be disabed. To disabe the compatibiity mode: 1. Open your Web browser. 2. In the Menu bar seect Toos > Compatibiity View Settings. The Compatibiity View Settings window opens (see Figure 12). Figure 12. 23 Section 8 Register a PredictPuse Subscription PredictPuse is a remote monitoring and management subscription service that coects and anayzes data from connected power infrastructure devices, providing Eaton with the insight needed to make recommendations and take action on your behaf. This service has imited avaiabiity outside of the United States. For more information go to Note: Contact your Eaton service representative for avaiabiity of PredictPuse in your region. Use either the universa PredictPuse Subscription Wizard or the PXGX UPS PredictPuse setup feature to configure your profie and register the Eaton UPS devices monitored by PredictPuse. The universa PredictPuse Wizard can be downoaded from the PredictPuse web site to begin your subscription registration. Using this method, you can register devices individuay or as a group. However, the atest firmware for the PXGX UPS and PXGMS cards contain a PredictPuse activation set-up feature. As ong as these cards are on your network, you can quicky activate subscriptions without the wizard and save time. To begin registering with the set-up feature, foow this procedure. An e-mai with additiona instructions to finish registering and configuring your card is automaticay sent to the provided e-mai address. To register an instaed PXGX UPS card for PredictPuse: 1. Locate the PredictPuse seection under the Configuration menu on the Power Xpert Gateway window. Note: Note: If there isn't a PredictPuse seection, either update your firmware or downoad the universa PredictPuse Wizard from and foow the instructions in the Wizard and subsequent e-mai messages. 24 2. On the Power Xpert Gateway window, seect Configuration > PredictPuse (see Figure 13). Figure 13. Registering a PredictPuse Subscription 3. Confirm that the checkbox for Enabe PredictPuse is checked (enabed). 4. Compete the foowing fieds: Contact Name: First and ast name of the contact person. Contact Emai: E-mai address of the contact person for event data. Confirm Emai: E-mai address again for confirmation. Country: Country where the main contact resides. 5. Cick Appy to save. 6. 25 7. A progress message box informs you that registration is in progress. When the first step in registration competes successfuy, the contact person identified on the PredictPuse settings page wi receive an e-mai with additiona instructions (see Figure 14).
